Too bad Philip missed the good part & only heard the bad part...Personally I feel if they get involved more as friends they still need to take it slow.. No shirts being ripped & such.. Make it slow & romantic instead...

Great chapter Kpatch. I feel bad for Philip but he shouldn't have been eavesdropping or should have listened longer. It looks like it may take Chloe awhile to heal. I guess that means more angst.

THE CONDO, TWO MONTHS LATER, BACK IN THE PRESENT
Parker: Ma, could you please stop pacing. You’re making me dizzy. Chloe: He’s not coming home. I just know it. Parker: Who’s not coming home? Chloe: He’s spending the night with her. Parker: Ooh, a sleepover. Chloe: What am I saying? If he wants to spend the night with his new girlfriend, he has every right. I had my chance, so I have no right to be jealous. Then ... why am I?
THE CONDO, THE NEXT MORNING
Philip was reading the Wall Street Journal when Chloe joined him in the living room.
Philip: Parker napping? Chloe: Yes. Um, what time did you get home last night? Philip shrugged without looking up from his newspaper. Chloe: Oh. Sorry. I guess that was a personal question. Philip grunted. Chloe: So how’s it going with you and Veronica? Philip: You mean Valerie. Chloe: You like her? Philip: Why do you ask? Chloe: Just making conversation. Do you? Philip: Do I ... what? Chloe: Do you like her? Philip: Yeah. I do. Chloe: Hmmm. Philip: What? Chloe: Nothing. She just ... Philip: She just what? Chloe: Nothing, nevermind. Philip: Chloe, come on. If you have something to say, just say it. Chloe: I just don’t think she’s your type. He put the newspaper aside. Philip: What? You never even met her. How would you know? Chloe: Because. I know your type. And she’s not it. Philip: You know my type. Chloe: Yes I do. Philip: Okay, and what’s my type? Why don’t you tell me? Chloe: I don’t think so. Philip: Come on. You started this game. What’s my type? Chloe: Well, she has to be beautiful. Philip: Okay, Valerie is beautiful. Chloe: She is? Philip: Yes. Keep going. Chloe: She should have a good figure. Philip: She does. Chloe: I mean a really great figure. She should be well-endowed. Philip almost made a comment about Melanie and then thought better of it. Philip: You think I’m that superficial? Thanks a lot. Okay, so what else? Chloe: Okay, she has to be smart. Philip: Veronica is smart. Chloe: You mean Valerie. Philip: Valerie. Right. What else? Chloe: You like a girl with a sense of humor. Philip: Check. Chloe: And she should be talented. Philip: Talented? Wait a minute. It sounds like you’re describing yourself. Chloe: Well thank you, Philip. That’s very sweet. But no, I’m not the right girl for you. Philip: I know. You keep telling me that. Chloe: But I do think I could find you the perfect girl. Philip: Thanks, but if I need help, I’ll sign up for e-Harmony. Chloe: That’s a great idea! Philip: I was joking, I’m not signing up for e-Harmony. Chloe: No, not that. I meant for me to find you the perfect girl. Philip: Excuse me Lucy, but why would you want to do a thing like that? Chloe: Because, this woman will end up being Parker’s step-mother. Philip: Ha! Now you’re marrying me off? Chloe: Think about it Philip. I have a stake in this too. Philip: No you don’t. Chloe: Yes I do. Philip: Chloe, I appreciate the offer, and I promise if I have trouble meeting women, you’ll be the first to know. In the meantime, I’ll handle it without your help. Chloe: Philip... Philip: What? Chloe: Before, when you said the woman I was describing sounded like me, um, what if it was ... me? Philip: What do you mean? Chloe: I mean, well, if you were interested in me, would you tell me? Philip: Yes, you know I would. Chloe: Suppose you didn’t know how to tell me? Philip: Chloe, you of all people know that I’ve never been shy about telling a woman how I feel about her. Chloe: I guess not. Philip: I have a conference call I need to jump on. I’ll be in my study. Chloe: Philip, wait. Philip: What is it now? Chloe: Are you going to see Valerie again? Philip: Probably.

Really Chloe, did you expect Philip to remain celibate forever? Never date? He's not going to beg & plead for you... Just tell him you love him, you both can take it slow but you want them to be together.

Great chapter Kpatch. I like seeing Chloe jealous. I bet Philip liked it too. I love this line:"Chloe, you of all people know that I've never been shy about telling a woman how I feel about her."

THE CONDO, PHILIP’S STUDY
After his conference call was over, Philip sat in his office, perplexed over the conversation he had with Chloe. In one breath she says she wants to fix him up with a woman, and in the next breath she wants to know if he’s interested in her. She was driving him crazy with all these mixed messages. He would drop Valerie in a heartbeat to be with Chloe. Philip ran his hands through his hair and he decided that Chloe was spending too much time alone. She needed to think about something other than herself. Or Parker. Or him. He picked up the phone and made a call.
A SHORT TIME LATER
Philip came out of the study and found Chloe in the kitchen. Philip: Want to go out with me tonight? Chloe: Excuse me? Philip: I think you need a change of scenery. You need to get out. Chloe: I do? Philip: Yes. That’s why I just got us tickets to the Chicago Symphony. Chloe: You hate the symphony. Philip: I don’t exactly hate it. But you love it. Chloe: I ... I don’t know what to say. Um, what about Parker? Philip: I called Lucinda. She’ll be over at 6:00. You and I can have a nice, leisurely dinner out and then go to the symphony. Chloe: But ... Philip: Ah ah ah. No buts. I’ll pick you up at 6:00. Philip winked at Chloe and went back to his study.
