Just loved the chapter. Parker is just so sweet. I was so hoping that Chloe would tell Philip how she feels. Instead she tells him she was going to tell Parker good bye. Kpatch will have to knock some smarts into them when she sees them. Thanks Kpatch.

Chloe you need to take Lucinda's advice and go after what you want! Looking forward to the convention and Chloe getting to sing again. Parker is sooo funny. He needs to set his parents straight.

OCEANSIDE RESORT, KEY WEST, FLORIDA CHECK-IN DESK, THURSDAY AFTERNOON
Rachel: Come with me, Chloe. Chloe: Where are we going? Rachel: You and I are going to get massages. Chloe: I need to rehearse. Rachel: You need to relax. Afterward, we’ll go find the nightclub manager. Come on. Oh, Philip, will you be okay by yourself? Philip: I’m pretty sure I can find my way around. Rachel: Good. Stay out of trouble.
MIXER, THURSDAY NIGHT
All the conference attendees were invited to a networking mixer on Thursday night, the first night of the conference. As she was deciding what to wear tonight, Chloe heard Lucinda’s voice in her head telling her not to stand on the sidelines and pout. Chloe took Lucinda’s advice to get in the game, and she pulled out all the stops. She put on a red dress that showed off her assets. Low-cut, but not too low cut, short, but not too short, tight, but ... well maybe it was a little too tight, but it was designed to remind Philip of the first time they danced together.
Chloe briefly chatted with the DJ, then she looked around the expansive ballroom and she didn’t see Philip. Or Rachel. That made her uncomfortable. Maybe they were ... just then, she felt a tap on her bare shoulder. Man: Would you care to dance? Chloe: Oh, no, thank you. I’m waiting for someone. Man: My name is Jason. Jason Matthews. And you’re...? Chloe: I’m Chloe. Jason: Nice to meet you. Can I buy you a drink? Chloe: It’s an open bar. Jason: That was a figure of speech. Even though Jason was a handsome man, Chloe only had eyes for only one man and right now her eyes continued searching the room for him, while Jason continued talking. Finally, Chloe saw Philip across the crowded room. He was at the bar, and he was with Rachel. Chloe: I see my friend over by the bar. Excuse me. Chloe headed for the bar, but she really didn’t want to talk to Philip while Rachel was with him. Luckily, she watched Rachel leave Philip’s side. This was the chance she’d been waiting for! She went over to the bar and snuck up on Philip.
Chloe: Buy me a drink, soldier?

I liked the nod to North Shore...Jason Matthews. Love it that Chloe chose a red dress to remind Philip of their first date. Looking forward to the bonus chapter later! Thanks Kpatch!

MIXER, THURSDAY NIGHT
Chloe headed for the bar, but she really didn’t want to talk to Philip while Rachel was with him. Luckily, she watched Rachel leave Philip’s side. This was the chance she’d been waiting for! She went over to the bar and snuck up on Philip.
Chloe: Buy me a drink, soldier? Philip turned around. He looked at Chloe and eyed her up and down. Philip: Damn. You look ... whew ... breathtaking. Chloe: Thanks. And you look devastatingly handsome. Who picked out your outfit? Your wife? Philip was confused for a second, and then he realized that Chloe was being playful and flirtatious. He was happy to play along. Philip: Um. I’m not ... Oh, we’re pretending we don’t know each other? Okay. No. I’m not married. Chloe: Are you kidding? A great catch like you is single? Philip: A woman who looks as good as you makes me glad I’m single. If I was married, I’d need to go to confession. Chloe: Does that mean you’re Catholic? Philip: No, but I had a strict upbringing. So ... top shelf vodka martini? Chloe: Maybe later.
On cue, a familiar song started playing. Please click the link to listen to it.
Chloe: Why don’t you ask me to dance? I mean, as long as we’re both dressed for it. Philip smiled and took Chloe’s hand as she led him onto the dance floor. He took her in his arms and they began to dance.
Philip: I Need You. Chloe: What did you say? Philip: They’re playing our song--"I Need You." Did you ask the band to play this? Chloe: What? Does that seem like something I would do? Philip: Actually, no, it doesn’t. You ... you should wear red more often. Chloe: Why? Philip: Because it makes you look ... young. Chloe: Is that a compliment? Philip: Yeah, it is. Chloe: That reminds me ... while I was in my hotel room pouring myself into this dress, I heard this funny noise at my window. Philip: What kind of noise? Chloe: It sounded like someone was tossing pebbles at the window. Philip: Ha. It was probably just some lovestruck teenager. But you should call the police, just to be on the safe side. Chloe: But what if he’s cute? Philip: Oh. Well if he’s cute, then he certainly shouldn’t go to jail. They both laughed. Philip: Can we get serious for a minute? Chloe, we never got the chance to talk about last night. Chloe: There’s a time and place for talking, and a time and place for dancing. Right now, we’re dancing.
Chloe rested her head on Philip’s shoulder and he rubbed his nose against her neck, savoring the moment, but knowing it might not last. They both closed their eyes while they danced. Chloe: You’re a good dancer. Philip: You’re a good teacher. Chloe: You’re a fast learner. Philip looked at Chloe. Philip: Chloe, there’s something I need to tell you.
Meanwhile, Rachel came back to the room and spotted them dancing. She felt a pang of jealousy because what she was witnessing didn’t look like “just friends” as Philip had insisted. She realized she’d have to “up” her game, so she approached them and touched Philip’s arm. Rachel: Mind if I cut in? Philip looked at Rachel, then at Chloe, and he didn’t know how to respond. Chloe bit her lip and held her tongue. She smiled graciously. Chloe: Not at all. He’s all yours.
Chloe left Rachel and Philip, and she headed for the bar.
