Sorry about the lapse, guys. That wasn't my intention but the situation was outside of my control. We plan to be back to the regular schedule beginning tomorrow (Monday).

Chapter 3c
Chloe stood inside the lobby of the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center pretending to read the Playbill. Really, she just wanted to get a dose of opera. It had been so long since she’d heard an aria and longer still since she’d sung one.
The muted strains of Mozart made her feel more alive than she’d felt in ages. She’d been walking around like a zombie lately. She hadn’t had contact with anyone outside her parents and her children for months. Other than immediate family, she’d intentionally been staying away from people.
When she told her mother she was taking a walk this evening, she really had no idea where she was going, only that she needed to get out of the house. Then she found herself walking in the direction of Lincoln Center, picking up the pace as she got closer, as if there was a chance someone might stop her from reaching her destination, from fulfilling her dreams. This small moment to herself listening to The Magic Flute—even without a ticket—was heavenly.
She checked the time on her cell phone display and sighed. Placing the Playbill back in the rack, she turned and headed for the exit.

I love that Chloe's connection to music is alive and well in this story (and not as a plot device to get her kidnapped).

It’s nice that Chloe went to see an opera. Hopefully it’ll help.

Of course. Of course she gravitates toward music. Makes total sense. Will this help her get her situation more settled, I wonder?

Chapter 3d
“Uh Parker,” Craig said, placing a hand on his grandson’s shoulder. “Why don’t we let Grandma take Philip to see Holly. You and I have a date with Mr. Sandman.”
Parker looked up at Philip. “Will you still be here when I wake up?”
Philip sighed at the boy’s guilelessness. “Probably not, big guy, but I promise not to leave town without seeing you again. If your mom says it’s okay, I’ll take you guys out for ice cream tomorrow.”
“Yesss!” Parker hugged Philip’s good leg, then turned around and took his grandfather’s hand. “Come on Grampa.”
“Did you really want to see Holly,” Nancy asked after Craig and Parker left the room. Her tone was one of suspicion, the complete opposite of Parker’s. “You know, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
He suspected she didn’t want him to see Holly, but he wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity. “No, I’d really like to.” He hoped he sounded sincere. Maybe he’d find a clue to this whole mystery in the baby’s nursery.
“Follow me.”
Philip entered the nursery and walked up to the crib. Nancy switched the lamp on a low setting so Philip could see Holly. Placing his hands on the railing, he looked down at the baby. Funny, he’d expected her to look like Chloe, but of course she didn’t. She didn’t really look like Nicole or Daniel either though. She had hardly any hair but the hair that she had was strawberry blonde. Her lips were full and pouty and he realized she looked more like Melanie than any of the other adults involved in the child’s creation. Melanie was, after all, this child’s sister.
He reached into the crib to touch the baby’s hand.
“Get away from my baby!”
Philip turned around quickly and saw Chloe in the doorway with her arms folded.

Interesting that the baby looks like Melanie. I see Chloe hasn’t changed from when she first stole the baby.

Great, Chloe is in crazy mode. I feel bad for Holly and Parker. It has to be scary and unpredictable, especially for Parker, to have such an unstable mother.

Chapter 3e
Philip reached into the crib to touch the baby’s hand.
“Get away from my baby!”
Philip turned around quickly and saw Chloe in the doorway with her arms folded. His face flushed at the sight of her. He noticed that she appeared to do a double take, as if she didn’t realize it was Philip until he turned to face her.
Nancy quickly switched off the light, and shooed both Philip and Chloe out of the nursery. “It’s my fault sweetie. I didn’t think you’d mind an old friend looking in on the baby.”
“She’s beautiful, Chloe,” Philip said, trying to sound casual.
“What are you doing here, Philip?” Despite the irritation in her tone, he thought he saw tears in her eyes.
“I was in town on business, so I thought I’d look you up.”
“What kind of business? You don’t even work for Titan anymore.”
Her words stung. “No. But, I’m working on a few other projects.” He briefly glanced at Nancy. “Let’s go out for coffee,” he suggested to Chloe.
“It’s too close to bedtime,” she reasoned.
“Then ice cream.”
“I’m really not hungry,” she stated without emotion.
“Then let’s take a walk.”
“Why?”
“Just to talk. I promise, I come in peace.”
She squinted at him for a long moment before she said, “Somehow I doubt that.”
Nancy approached Chloe and quietly said, “Sweetie, you’re being a little hostile. Why don’t you go for a walk with Philip?”
Her brow wrinkled, surprised at her mother’s suggestion. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Well, you never know. It could be a very good idea.”
Chloe looked sidelong at Nancy. “Alright, fine.” Chloe turned and walked toward the front door. She opened it and stepped into the corridor.

This should be an interesting talk. I’m surprised Nancy wants Chloe to talk to Philip.

I wonder why Nancy is so eager for Chloe and Philip to talk. I also wonder why she's so hostile.

Seriously? She was just bemoaning how she had no friends and never got out of the house and now she's barking to stay in??
I agree with others. The one's I feel the most sorry for are Parker and Holly.
