Hey Blue Bloods fans. What did you think of the Season opener?
I thought it had some good moments but I was really disappointed in it.
1. I hate how Erin treats Jack like her lapdog who's only good for booty calls. It would be better for her campaign-wise if constituents knew her to be involved in a committed relationship.
2. Frank and the Priest. They reminded me of Dickens' Christmas Carol with the ghost of Christmas present going from place to place. I found those scenes unrealistic and cringe-worthy.
3. Jamie's shooting. While this was good drama, the show shied away from going deeper, which is what they always do. You wanted to see Frank's reaction to learning Jamie got shot. You wanted to see the family visiting Jamie in his hospital room either pre or post-surgery. Suddenly, he's well and not paralyzed. They missed the emotional beats. It should have been a two-part episode, so it didn't feel so rushed and I didn't feel jerked around.
4. Joe. There was no point at all to him being there, and how does he suddenly happen to ride along on Danny and Jamie's cases?
So that's my analysis.

I loved it! I thought the part with Frank and his friend was a little silly but the rest was great. I especially liked how everyone was looking for the same person and Danny and Joe's conversation about the death of Joe Sr. Here's my writeup. www.tvfanatic.com/2022/10/blue-bloods-season-13-episode-1-review-keeping-the-faith/Kpatch the witness Erin was looking for was a confidential informant on a case that Joe was working on. That's why he was involved. Jamie came along because the person believed to have killed the witness was the same one he and Eddie arrested who Erin's office let go.

I'm so confused about Jamie's job. I thought he was in internal affairs and in Friday's show it looked like he was a regular sargeant again, even though he introduced himself as field agent or something like that. That whole storyline was dumb. Of course that girl is going to see Jamie and Anthony tailing her. If it was just Jamie, he could be nondescript, but Anthony can't be.
It wasn't the most dramatic episode ever. I think the only part that held my interest is the recurring psychic. When she was last seen, you got the feeling there was a spark between her and Danny, then nothing.

I thought it was a strange episode. The part with Jamie and Anthony was silly. I'm glad that woman who vandalized Eddie's car realized there were good cops out there but that story was also disjointed. What happened to the kid who attacked the hot dog vendor? He disappeared after he was arrested/released and there seemed to be no point to his inclusion in the story. I liked Frank's dilemma but I didn't know there was some corrupt PC before him. I always thought he became PC shortly after Henry stepped down. I enjoyed Maggie, the psychic, especially her friendship with Baez. Oddly, last time Callie Thorne was on SVU, she was also a recurring character who was attacked. Here's my writeup: www.tvfanatic.com/2022/10/blue-bloods-season-13-episode-3-review-ghosted/

heroicmuse , I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found some aspects disjointed, unfinished and confusing. It wasn't clear that Diane vandalized Eddie's car because she thought Eddie was Luis's girlfriend. You sort of had to infer it. Agree about the kid at the hot dog stand, but I feel like we will see him in a future episode. Jamie telling everyone about his case when he was supposedly in a job that required him not to talk about his work was weird. Then all of a sudden they put two and two together but forgot to tell the audience. Why was Maggie's stabber even running around that night. What was he looking for if he thought she was dead?

I have found Blue Bloods lackluster the last couple weeks and I know why. It's because Jamie and Eddie don't get to share scenes other than the family dinner which doesn't count. I did like the umbrella guy from last night. I think they should keep him on as Danny's snitch.
I just realized that the new captain is the same person who had a problem with her son's baseball team (I think) and was accused of hitting another parent. Isn't that her? I guess they were testing her as a partner for Eddie. It was fine for one episode but not long-term.
I like Baker but not when she's thrust into a major story. Her personality doesn't work for that in my opinion.

I loved last night's, especially Frank's comments at the dinner scene. I did wonder why Eddie and Jamie never had a scene together discussing her issue with McNichols but I guess it's part of their pact not to discuss work. Those protesters shouldn't have been allowed to harass Henry and I thought that Frank's solution was perfect since his hands were tied legally. Another disappointing episode. Virtually no interaction between Jamie and Edie. Edie was only in the episode during the family dinner.
Jamie is the level headed one and Danny shouldn't have held a grudge. I suppose this will be in play during hte remainder of the season.
It was beyond nasty for Erin to put a guilt trip on Joe by saying his father would be ashamed. That is cruel. She's a witch.
I don't care for the way they are using Joe and how he randomly pops up in other stories that he seems to have little connection to.
Frank's whole family should have been at the law enforcement tribute. The hug between Henry and Frank got to me.
