I am still not sure how I feel about it. I keep thinking about it. I look forward to what the new writers have in store for him. That being said, as long as he is out of Sami's orbit, I am happy for him to stay. If they are gonna go another Ejami route then hells no! Get the heck out of salem please and thanks  |

Now that DD is okay ... Glad to see you out of hiding:-)
I will just say this one thing. SOD would only make that announcement if they got it from JS' camp or Days and I don't remember Days ever releasing a statement about an actor's exit that mentioned contract negotiations. This has the smell of ploy to me as well. I've seen other actors try this as a desperate last try; I've never seen it turn out well for the actor.

I doubt there's anywhere to go with EJami. In fact, it looks like their only real option is EJole, IMO. Even though there are a lot of EJami fans (of which I am an ex) I hope the writers (or whoever is listening) aren't going in that direction.
EJami is over. Sami is played out. I'd be happiest if Lucas came and swooped her off to Hong Kong.

If Nicole chooses to be with EJ, and he does the proper amount of atoning, I'm cool. They have a lot of chemistry and it looks like EJ is realizing that he screwed up with Nicole and now he's going to have to win her back. I like seeing him with that wistful look in his eye. I can pretend it's for me.  |

I remember something like this happening to Alison Sweeney last year around this time. Alison's contract renewal was delayed and when asked about she just said they were still in talks. This is more along the lines of I'm not getting my way so let me try strong arming you by taking it public - TPTB tend to frown on that and dig their heels in more. |

As long as they write an interesting storyline for EJ, I don't care if he stays or goes. It does look like he still has feelings (as much as he can) for Nicole and I read that they (EJ & Nicole) would be involved in a storyline, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out!!

I agree with those saying this smells like a ploy to me. This is what I think. I think that their negotiations broke down and he announced to the show that he was leaving Days. The show probably didn't expect him to leak the information to SOD during relaunch week and especially the day AFTER some of the Days stars were tweeting about good ratings for Mon, Tue, Wed. IMHO, I think he tried a last minute effort to sway the show his way and what likely occurred was the show telling SOD they were still in negotiations to stop the onslaught of calls, tweets and posts about this at a time that they were trying to focus the majority of that toward the reset episodes and the day after Marlene tweets a very cryptic message suggesting that Lucas Horton might be back in May of 2012. Do you still find it a coincidence that SOD came out with this on Thursday? I think not.
If there is anything to learn from this is that James has absolutely no loyalty to Days and frankly I don't blame him with the way they chose to treat the actors that were very loyal to the show. But if anything I hope that Days learns that maybe now it he perfect time to at least rest the character for six months and see how it goes from there. This kind of negotiation very rarely ends well for the actor, especially on Days.
