I'm mixed. I am sort of liking him on the screen. Yeah, he's done damage, and I'd have cheered, but I actually want to see what Days has in store for him.

As much as JS/EJ is a major part of Days, I really hope that TPTB don't go out of their way and offer JS some outrageous contract to keep JS with the show. I like JS as much as anyone else does and I think he is a really good actor but I am not going to think it is going to be the end of the world if JS leaves and I would hate for Days to offer JS a huge amount of money to keep him that could be used to bring back other actors and characters. JS may have a huge fanbase that would stop watching when he is gone but he is not the only actor on the show that does have a huge fanbase. BD/Lucas has a huge fanbase too (probably almost as big as JS's) and if he was brought back a lot of his fans would return to watching Days and that would help make up for the fans that leave once JS leaves. I don't want to see TPTB kiss JS's ass to keep him especially since lots and lots of other big actors have left the show before and the show didn't fall apart.
I know Days is in need of a really good villian right now since Stefano sooner or later will probably end up leaving the show since JM is really getting up there in age and EJ would have been a real good person to take over for Stefano but Chad could just as easily be written to become the next Stefano with some good writing. I do wonder if JS does leave the show if EJ will end up being liking Stefano where he is killed off in a way that allows him to rise back from the dead like Stefano used to do all the time in case JS ever does decide to come back to Days. I really think that it might do Days some good to have EJ disappear for a while and have either Chad or Lexie take over the Dimera empire or even have a new villian be brought on the show to cause trouble. Maybe Ian Buchannan is being brought on to be a villian or Quinn is being brought on to resurrect the Alamain's as being the next villian family on the show if the Dimeras are put on the backburner for a while. Also the Kiriakis family used to be villians too back in the Days so the focus could go back to them being the villians on the show especially if Philip was to come back and take over for Victor now that he is going to be marrying Maggie.

That is a great post Karebr with some great points.
I like the idea of Quinn coming back to resurrect some Alamain stuff. Also, like the idea of Chad heading to the dark side. Not so much like EJ or Stefano but I think it would make for great turmoil between he and Abigail. NOt just her nagging on him about being a DiMera either as that got old fast. I also was kind of thinking they were hinting at a Abigail/Chad/Melanie triangle in the recent episodes and I think it would be another drawing factor between them seeing as Melanie likes the bad boys and that she would be more accepting of his DiMera lifestyle then Abigail ever would.

I think Days would be incredibly stupid to not do everything in their power to keep him on. I'm not even a big EJ fan anymore (thanks to Higley), but James Scott has a huge fanbase and now is not the time to alienate those viewers.
