Thanks for the previews Kpatch. Victor and Maggie's conversation makes me a little nervous.

Chapter 11a
Standing in the doorway of Conference Room A with her arms folded across her chest, Maggie said, “Victor Kiriakis. We need to talk.”
Maggie walked into the conference room and gripped the back of a chair across the table from where Victor sat. “You know some days I wonder how I can possibly love a man like you. And it may not surprise you to learn that today is one of those days. How could you do that, Victor? How can you treat your son so poorly?”
“I am not treating him poorly. I’m trying to get him to understand that his choices have consequences!”
“Are you God?”
“What kind of question is that?”
“Philip and Chloe love each other. They always have and it’s not for you to try and tear them apart.”
“I’m his father!” Victor insisted.
“They’re adults,” Maggie shot back.
“Be that as it may, I’d show him some respect if he displayed some intelligence in his love life.”
“You don’t get to rubber stamp his love life, Victor. And he’s not going to yield to pressure, not when it comes to Chloe. A father’s love shouldn't come with strings, don’t you know that? It should be unconditional.”
“Are you living in Disneyland? Love is never unconditional. It always has strings.” Victor sighed and leaned back in his chair and appeared to be deflated. “Why couldn’t Philip have stayed married to Melanie? She was good for him. She was the right woman for him.”
Maggie rubbed her forehead and focussed on a spot on the wall behind Victor. “Oh I don’t know. If it was up to me, they would have. I think Melanie was happier when she was with Philip than at any other time in her young life. Philip seemed happy too, just as Daniel was happy with Chloe.” Refocussing on Victor, she said sadly, “I happen to agree with you that they seemed so right together.”
Victor’s eyes sparkled. “You’re giving me a new idea, my dear. Let’s bring Melanie home from Europe immediately.”

Resist, Maggie! Stay strong....
TBH—if I were Maggie, I’d be questioning Victor a little more closely about what he said about love having strings attached...

That sounds like a terrible idea. I hope Maggie doesn't give in.

Wow! Victor must have changed his mind about Melanie, since I don’t recall him being too fond of her before. Either way, as nice as it would be to see Melanie again, I hope Maggie doesn’t go along with Victor’s plan.

Hopefully Maggie tells him that’s a dumb idea

Well that was the last thing I expected to see. I know that Maggie wants Melanie to be happy, but even she can't think that this is a good idea. Melanie deserves more than to just be a distraction.
I did love the Melanie and "Poppa Vic" showdowns tho. She had just the right amount of stubbornness and sweetness to get under Victor's skin. If anyone knows how to turn Victor's shenanigans back on him, it's her.

Chapter 11b
Victor’s eyes sparkled. “You’re giving me a new idea, my dear. Let’s bring Melanie home from Europe immediately.”
Maggie shook her head. “Oh Victor, you don’t give up, do you? Then let me give you a quick history lesson. Melanie and Philip may have seemed happy together, but all it took was a misunderstanding with Nathan to push Philip into the arms of another woman. But not just any woman, Victor. He turned to Chloe. And when Chloe’s relationship with my son faltered, she didn’t turn to just any man. She turned to Philip. That wasn’t an accident and it wasn’t a coincidence.”
“Please don’t tell me it was fate,” Victor scoffed. When Maggie gave him a disapproving look, Victor folded his arms over his chest and grunted.
“They say the heart wants what the heart wants,” Maggie explained. “You can’t help who you fall in love with.”
“That’s horse sh—” He stopped himself before cursing. “Hockey, and romantic idealism. I don’t believe for a minute that intelligent human beings have no control over who they fall in love with!”
Maggie raised an eyebrow and looked like she was about to blow her stack. “Do you think I’d be with you if I had a choice?” she blurted out.
Victor’s face fell. Maggie sighed and pulled out the chair she’d been holding. Taking a seat, she said, “I’m sorry, Victor. I don't mean to be cruel, but sometimes you make me so mad with your obstinance. My point is very simple. Philip and Chloe love each other, and you need to accept that.”
“Never!”
Maggie squeezed her eyes shut for a moment as she tried to contain her temper. “Never’s a long time Victor, and it’s going to be a very sad day if you die without making peace with your son.”
“It’s not my choice. It’s his!”

Wow....wasn’t expecting Maggie to let THAT drop, but maybe that’s what it’ll take for Victor to clue in. Also if Victor continues to attack Chloe and Philip, the chances of his seeing Parker much if at all drop to nothing.
Maggie’s absolutely right. It will be sad if Victor dies without making peace with Philip, but (IMO) he’d only have himself to blame. Philip had made repeated attempts to mend fences with Victor but he can never quite meet whatever arbitrary standard Victor sets for him. A shame—most people in Salem would be happy to have someone like Philip as their son....just not Victor, apparently.

I hope Maggie's words sink in. Love for your child shouldn't come with conditions and strings.
Maggie is absolutely right that Philip and Chloe are always drawn back to each other.

I had a feeling once Victor started in about choosing who you love that Maggie was going to say something along those lines. At least there's one sensible person in that family.

I don't know how Maggie puts up with his stubborn streak! I hope she can break through that stubborn exterior, because underneath it all I know he loves Philip and wouldn't want to lose him as a son.
