Possible Nathan recast (Read 930 times)

I don't know for sure if he is auditioning for the role of Nathan or not but I saw this tweet to Casey and Molly on twitter from Colin Owens about him auditioning for a role on Days and the resemblance he has to Mark Hapka couldn't help but make me think that he may be a recast for Nathan now that Melanie doesn't have a love interest on the show anymore with Dario gone. His resemblance to MH is just too uncanny for it not to be a recast of Nathan

Even though I would LOVE to see Mark Hapka return, I can live with a Nathan recast. I just hope and pray to the soap gods that this means that Nathan is finally on his way home to Melanie and this BS with Brady is over and done with permanently.

They may want to actually have a Horton man in Salem. There is no one for Melanie now unless she gets in a triangle with Chad and Abby. I hope if Nathan returns that he's written much better this time.

I would love Mark to come back but I'd accept a Nathan recast with him in the role. I loved Melanie with Nathan. I would love to see that pairing get a real shot.

That pairing never had a chance with all that awful writing. It was like they made it up as they went along. Maybe a better story with Nathan being a stronger character could work. It's all just speculation now. This could be a brand new Horton or new character.

For all the hype about "learning their lesson" and rebuilding around characters the audience recognizes they sure are repeating the same tired practice of building around newbies ... lame newbies at that. I don't care whether it's Nathan or a different new character it's all the same. Nathan is just an invented "Horton". I could care less about him no matter who is in the role. They need to do something with the 20s crowd but another Nathan or any other boy for the sole purpose of giving Melanie something to do is just more of the same waste of resources that have left Days in last place.

Nope he didn't.I'm wondering though,with Mel hanging out with the teenies,are we supposed to forget that she was past college age and married to Philip?The show hasn't had her mention him once since just after she met Dario.

I completely agree with you. I would love to see Melanie/Nathan get a real chance. If not Nathan, then I would want to see Dario return. In my opinion, Nathan and Dario were Mel's best matches.

As for Philip, I will always believe that he belongs with CHLOE or STEPHANIE. The biggest mistake that Days did was not use Philip's history with Chloe. Another blunder was getting rid of Steve and Kayla when Stephanie and Philip were starting to date, considering the history with Steve and Victor. That could have been a GREAT storyline. Bottom line, Philip should NOT have been paired with Melanie in the first place. Same rule applies to Brady, he should not be paired with her either.

It could be pure coincidence that this guy looks so much like MH and plus we don't even know for sure yet if he even got the part that he auditioned for. Also he may not even have auditioned for the recasted role of Nathan and he could just end up being some college student that is hanging out with Melanie, Chad, Abigail, Will, Sonny, and Gabi. We also don't even know if he is going to be casted as a love interest for Mel. For all we know he could be being brought on as a love interest for Gabi now that Will is going to be gay or he could even end up being another gay character that Sonny will be with while Will finds out that he is gay. I do have a feeling that he is going to end up being a Nathan recast though since according to Molly's tweets she is supposed to have a storyline coming up in 2012 for Melanie and more than likely it will probably have something to do with her and Nathan getting back together since it seems like the new writers really want to keep Melanie in the Horton's orbit.

As much as I have never been a really big fan of Nathan's especially since he was never truly developed as a character, I wouldn't be opposed to him being brought back if the new writers take their time and develop the character more by focusing on his medical career and living up to the Horton name. I also think that we should learn a little bit more about who exactly Nathan is. I would much rather have Lucas or even Bill or Mike be brought back if the show really wants to bring on more Hortons but I do understand that the younger age group needs to be developed more and the best way to do that is to have more of them be from the core families of Days like the Hortons. Thing is it would actually be better to have a Brady be brought into that age group since both Abigail and Will are Hortons and the only Brady in that group is Will.

Melanie and Nathan were really cute together when they first met and stated hanging out together. It was a real shame when DH decided that she needed to have Philip and Melanie get married just so that Vivian and Carly could have a storyline when they came back. I really think that I could have gotten behind a Mate pairing if DH didn't make Nathan look so pathetic just so that Melanie would choose to be with Philip. I hated that DH decided not to go with Mate and instead decided to go with Phelanie and Nathan/Stephanie pairings instead. I just hope this time if Nathan does come back to be paired with Melanie that the new writers take their time and develop them as a real rootable couple.

I am glad that Melanie is now hanging out with the college kids since she seems to fit in better with them than she did with Philip and Chloe. Melanie is not that much older than Chad and Abigail. In fact she may only be a year older than them if even that. We have no idea what her real age is. Melanie actually annoys me so much lesser when she is hanging out with the college kids and I think that one of the best things so far that the new writers have done is move her into that age group and wipe out the fact that her and Philip were ever married. There really is no reason why that marriage even needs to ever be brought up since Philip is not even on the show right now and Melanie is moving on with her life.

One of the biggest things I have always hated about DH's writing is that she refuses to acknowledge history of characters. She did that with both Phloe and Broe. In 2008 when Kate had her cancer that would have been the absolute perfect time for Chloe to help Philip deal with the fact that Kate had cancer. Both Philip and Chloe were involved in Chloe's cancer storyline in 2002 and DH could have used their history of Philip being there for Chloe while she was sick as a way to reintroduce just how close of a relationship Phloe had back in high school and how Philip always tried to be there for Chloe even when Brady was trying to push him out of the picture. DH could have used Kate's cancer storyline to bring Phloe back together. Just another missed opportunity by DH to give Phloe a real chance at an adult love story.
