I hope Philip is calling Victor.
More people knowing could be helpful. The more the word gets out, the more people on the lookout for Parker, and publicity can cause Monica to make a mistake and get herself caught.

Thanks for the previews Kpatch. I'm sure it's next to impossible to think rationally when your young child is missing. So it's not that surprising for Chloe to be blaming Philip right now. His inappropriate relationship with Monica is the reason she would even know Parker.

Chapter 5a
“I don’t care what the police say. I won’t just sit here and do nothing. I need to find him.” Philip scrolled to one of his contacts and hovered his finger over one of the listings. He tapped it and put the phone to his ear. “Pick up dammit.” He waited for the person on the other end to answer. When they did, he said, “It’s Philip.”
Philip related the situation to the person on the other end of the phone. He forced himself to keep the emotion out of it and just explained the facts as he knew them. When there was no reaction, Philip said, “Hello? Dad? You still there? Did you hear what I said?” He looked at the display and saw the call had ended.
Philip’s eyes widened. Victor had just hung up on him. He couldn’t believe it. He thought he and his father could suspend their ongoing feud at a time like this. Parker was Victor’s grandson and he always claimed that nothing was as important as family. Well, maybe that statement didn’t apply to Philip’s family, especially since Parker was his son with Chloe, a woman Victor openly despised.
*
When Victor hung up the phone, he looked over at Maggie lying in bed beside him. She was staring at him with that worried look she perfected. “Victor? It sounded like it was Philip you were talking to.” Resting her hand on his arm, she said, “Something’s wrong. I can see it all over your face. Please tell me so I don’t imagine the worst.”
“It is the worst.” Victor rolled away from her and sat up, his legs dangling off the bed. “It’s Parker,” he said without looking at Maggie. “He’s been kidnapped.”

Victor's response is...odd. But I hope he's getting ready to take some action. (Perhaps Maggie will help here?) I think I have more confidence in his investigators than in just about anyone else as far as finding Parker is concerned.

I hope Victor wasn't involved in this in a bizarre attempt to break up Philip/Chloe. I'm glad Philip called him though.

Glad that Philip called Victor. I'm thinking his lack of response means he's going to do something to help in the search.

I agree with Andre.. Victor had no words because he didn't know what to say, instead he only knows what he will do.

I'm hoping victor hanging up was his subtle way of saying he heard what he needed to and he's on the case no time to waste

I'm surprised that Victor didn't offer some kind of reassurance, no matter how small it might be. Like Philip said, Victor has ALWAYS said that family comes first.
Does Victor know all the intricacies to Philip & Monica's "relationship"? I'm curious to know which facts Philip told him and which ones he omitted. I can't wait to see what Victor does. I'm ready for Parker to be home!

Maybe it's better that Victor didn't say anything. It's very possible it would have been an insensitive remark.

Chapter 5b
Victor rolled away from his wife and sat up, his legs dangling off the bed. “It’s Parker,” he said with his back toward Maggie. “He’s been kidnapped.”
“My hearing isn’t isn’t as good as it once was. It sounded like you said—” Maggie gasped. “Dear god! Victor! Did you say—?” Maggie’s voice caught in her throat and she couldn’t continue. Without turning around Victor nodded.
In a quiet voice, Victor said, “Philip thinks he knows who might have taken the boy, but he has no clue where she might be.”
“She?”
“My idiot son surrounds himself with the wrong people. He always has. First Chloe. Now—” Victor abruptly got off the bed and slid his feet into his leather slippers. He grabbed his cell phone off the nightstand and began to press some keys. He held the phone to his ear as he left the room. “Yes, of course I know what time it is and I don’t care. I need your services immediately,” he said as he closed the bedroom door and stepped into the hallway.
Maggie stared at the spot near the door where Victor had been a moment before. She placed her hands over her face and began to weep. After a moment, she reached for her phone on her own nightstand and pressed some keys. With a shaky voice, she said, “Honey? It’s Mom. Something’s happened and I think you need to know about it.”
*
Since his father was of no use, Philip made a number of calls of his own, to private detective agencies who specialized in missing child cases. He left message after message with answering services. Why did it have to be the middle of the night with no one around? Time was of the essence in a case like this. His father would have these people on speed dial and they’d drop everything for him. But Philip wasn’t Victor and for the first time in his life, he wished he was.

Ok--Victor's reacting and making things happen, even though he's definitely not winning any Father of the Year awards. Maggie's on the phone--to Daniel, presumably, which isn't a surprise but is unfortunate (never been a fan of the character). Philip is doing what he can, but I hate that he's regretting that he's not like Victor. Philip's certainly not perfect but (even though Victor is one of my favorites) I would never want him to be like his father.
Great chapter, boss!

I'm glad that Maggie is calling Daniel. He did raise Parker for part of his life after all and deserves to know. He's also very resourceful himself.
Victor should have let Philip in on the plan rather than being cold and angry and blaming him. It's bad enough Philip is blaming himself.

I'm so glad that Victor and Maggie are springing into action by making calls. I'm sure Victor's endless stream of resources will be able to help.
