Oh Philip. So much going on in that head of yours....and being intoxicated on an empty stomach is of no help at all. I'm glad that he's with George. I just hope that he sobers up some and can recall the conversation and realize that George is trying to make him see the whole picture, not just bits and pieces. manly bread....that line cracked me up probably more than it should have

Chapter 37a
The next morning, Parker held each of his parent’s hands as they walked through the lobby of the Randolph Street building toward the elevators. Suddenly, Parker stopped in his tracks. He pulled his hand out of Chloe’s and tried to pull away from Philip, but Philip’s grip was too tight. “Lemme go. I wanna leave.”
Philip squatted down to eye level with Parker as crowds of people who worked in the building flooded past them. “It’s okay, big guy. Your mom and me are right here with you and we’ll be with you all day.”
Parker’s eyes widened. “All day? No!” He turned around and tried to pull away again, but Philip reeled him in and held an arm securely around him.
“Parker angel,” Chloe said as she bent toward him. “I know it seems scary right now, but that’s just for now. You won’t feel that way all day, I promise.”
Parker turned away from Chloe and hugged Philip’s neck. “I wanna go home, Daddy,” he cried. “Please take me home.” Philip glanced at Chloe. He knew it wasn’t helping that both of them felt just as anxious as Parker. Mary told them this might happen, but she said they needed to work through it.
Holding Parker, Philip rose to his feet. “We don’t have to stay all day. Let’s just try an hour to start with.” He tightened his hold on his son. “It’s gonna be okay buddy.” They headed toward the elevator bank.
When Parker saw the elevators getting closer he began screaming. “Let me go! Let me go!”
The three of them entered a crowded elevator and Parker continued screaming at the top of his lungs. The other passengers were staring. Chloe stroked Parker’s back to try and get him to calm down, but by now he was screaming so hard, his face was beet red and he could hardly catch his breath. It reminded Chloe of when he was a baby and he’d cry so hard, he sounded asthmatic.
When they got off the elevator on 16, the executive floor, they attracted a lot of attention. It was about twenty minutes to nine, and a lot of people were already at their desks. As Philip carried a screaming Parker toward his office, many employees stopped them to fawn over Parker.
Hey Parker We missed you You are so cute Why you crying, sweetheart? Want to come help me open the mail? We have chocolate chip cookies from Whole Foods in the break room
Parker stopped crying and lifted his head off Philip’s shoulder. He smiled at the little crowd and held his arms out to Tracy, Philip’s executive secretary. “Is it okay if I take him to get a cookie?”
Philip looked at Chloe and she nodded. “I’ll come with you, Tracy,” Chloe said.

I wonder why Parker feels so much more comfortable with Tracy.
This is hard for everyone. Interested to see what's going to happen with this.

It sounds like Parker really trusts anyone but his parents at the moment Or perhaps cookies are just a good idea lol I still think they could have picked a new daycare It's not completely out of the question and I think it's a fair compromise

I had a feeling once Parker saw his friends at the Day Care, he might feel a little better, but not sure how long that will last. Philip & Chloe needed to show him that the day care is normally a happy place and maybe that feeling will return to Parker soon.

Cookies from Whole Foods - there was Parker's trigger that things were ok. He associates Whole Foods with George and knows that George is a safe place for him. I'm glad he seems so at ease with Tracy but am curious as to why. I'm starting to wonder if he's projecting that "safeness" from Whole Foods onto her because she's the one that mentioned it. I'm sure that Parker had previous interactions with Tracy, but I'm not remembering anything specific.
I'm not a bit surprised by Parker's reaction. Titan is where all of this nightmare started for him. But why was Philip taking him to his office and not to the daycare? I understand that he was upset, but at this point, it's not going to matter where in the building he is. He didn't feel comfortable there at all but seeing his friends might have helped more than just having him locked away in a room by himself.

Poor kid.
I am a little surprised that they're already taking Parker back to the daycare when it seems that there's so much they don't know about what he experienced while he was kidnapped. But the folks at Titan seem determined to make him comfortable, so maybe it's a good idea.
Will we have previews, boss?

PREVIEWSThanks all for reading and commenting all week and continuing to follow the saga. Kudos to mae00 for picking up on Tracy's reference to Whole Foods being the reason Parker reached out to her. Whole Foods appears to be comfort food for Parker's soul. Coming this week, we'll see how all three of our key players fare being back at work and/or onsite day care. Stay tuned.

I don't think Chloe or Philip would leave him in the daycare yet. I think they are taking him to one of their offices right now.
I'm not a bit surprised that Parker doesn't even want to be in the Titan building.

I like the description of his and Chloe's relationship. Wednesday: It's so sweet of George to take care of Philip. Friday: This has got to be so hard for everyone. Glad Parker seemed to warm up to Tracy. Previews: Looks like this'll be an interesting week ahead. Thanks for the chapters and previews, Kpatch .

Chapter 37b
“I didn’t know you were coming in today,” Tracy told Philip, still holding Parker. “Can I bring you a cup of coffee from the break room?”
Philip shook his head no. “Sorry. I should have given you a heads up that we were coming in today.” She nodded and waited for Philip to answer her question. “Oh. No, that’s fine. I’ll get some coffee downstairs at Starbucks later.” He watched as Tracy and Chloe took Parker to the break room and exhaled. He turned and headed to his office.
Philip had just booted up his laptop and was checking the thousands of emails that had come in since he and Chloe went on their trip. That trip seemed like a hundred years ago now.
He sent an email to Titan’s chief security officer asking for a plan to tighten security at the day care center, retrain the staff, and add stronger checks and balances. Then he contacted his corporate communications manager to set up a meeting with him and security. The three of them needed to draft a letter to the employees whose children were enrolled in the onsite day care center. It was important to reassure them in the aftermath of Parker’s kidnapping that their children were safe here.
After a few minutes, Chloe returned with Parker. “He said he wants to hang out in your office,” she told him.
Philip smiled broadly. His son wanted to be here with him. He interpreted that as meaning Parker felt safe with Philip, at least relatively safe, and that was a good sign.
Philip rose from his chair and went over to the closet. “We have some of Parker’s toys in here. Hey Parker, what do you want to play with?” Before Philip knew it, Parker had edged in front of Philip and was pulling out an etch-a-sketch and his video player. Philip smiled and ruffled Parker’s hair. Parker ran over to Philip’s leather couch and made himself comfortable as he slumped down and slipped on the headset plugged into the video player.
“Well okay then,” Chloe said with a smile. “I’m gonna go downstairs to my office.”
Philip was focused on his son when he said to Chloe, “See you later.”
Philip went back to his chair and began deleting unnecessary emails. His eyes traveled to a spot at the edge of his desk. There was a chocolate chip cookie resting on a napkin. “Parker, is this your cookie?”
Parker lifted one of the earpieces from his ear. “I ate my cookie in the kitchen. That one’s for you. Mommy brought it.”
Philip picked up the cookie and looked at it for a minute before taking a bite. He smiled as he brushed crumbs off his shirt. Turning back to his laptop, he pinged Chloe through the Microsoft instant message program on his computer. “Tx 4 cookie. Peace offering?”
She pinged back, “Depends. Did it work?”
He typed back, “It’s a very good start.”

Well, that was nice of Chloe, though she could have said something. I hope she and Philip are both willing to do the hard work needed to repair their relationship.
It's good that Parker wanted to spend time in Philip's office, though the fact that he chose something that involves putting on headphones and not interacting with anyone is concerning.
