I just don't want to see Philip and Chloe's characters get ruined by the writers with Philip's exit story. If the writers were to have Philip leave town to start a new life, they would either have to have Philip walk out on Chloe and Parker because he can't handle being a father to Parker and that would make Philip look like a really horrible person especially after all the promises he made to be there for Chloe and Parker or otherwise Philip would have to take Parker with him wherever he goes and that would mean he would end up going back on his promise of allowing Chloe to be a part of Parker's life since Parker needs both of his parents and once again Philip would look like a terrible person. If the writers don't kill off Philip in some way, Philip's character would end up being totally ruined forever if Philip would decide to come back to Salem. The only other way the writers could have an exit story for Philip where Philip doesn't look like a bad guy is if Philip takes a job in Chicago in order to start a new life for him and Parker because he is having a rough time dealing with everything that has happened to him in the past few months and he needs to get away from Salem to deal with fixing his messed up life. While Philip is living in Chicago, he and Chloe could share custody of Parker since Chicago is not that far away from Salem. Chloe could make trips to Chicago offscreen to go visit Philip and Parker since Philip has full custody of Parker. No matter how the writers decide to write Philip's exit story, I just hope that Philip's character is not totally ruined because of it because I would like to be able to have Philip come back to Salem in the future if JKJ would reprise the role to be a family with Chloe and Parker.

Wonderful ideas... but I think the writers will have Parker's daddy become Daniel after all. At least I hope so because of what you said, I don't want to see Philip just leave his son. He would never do that and I really would hate to see him be a daddy off-screen ala Lucas... That one makes me nuts also.

I really don't think Parker's paternity is going to end up being changed to Daniel. With all the upcoming spoilers out there, the writers are clearly trying to move Chloe and Daniel out of each others orbits. Daniel is going to end up being paired up with Carly and Jennifer for awhile since there is a lack of guys in that age group to be paired up with both women. Also there is a new guy who will be arriving in Salem soon after Philip is gone to be paired up with Chloe so it is quite obvious that the writers want to have her with a guy more her age since they went out of their way to create a new character in Chloe's age group for her to interact with because of the departure of Philip from Salem.
I can't see any reason why the writers would want to tie Chloe forever with Daniel by making him Parker's father. It just wouldn't make sense since the writers are trying to move them away from each other at least for the time being. It would actually make more sense to keep Philip as Parker's father even if Philip is not in Salem because Chloe would be forever tied to the Kiriakis clan which is one of the 4 core families of days and it would create angst for her by having Victor and Kate trying to interfere with how Chloe raises Parker since Philip is not around and it would help Chloe become a stronger character by having her go up against Victor and Kate and trying to prevent them from raising Parker the way they want to.
I could totally be wrong and Parker may end up Daniel's before Philip leaves but I just don't see it happening at least not for right now. Maybe in the future if the writers need a new storyline ideas for Daniel then they may change Parker's paternity but for now I think he is going to remain Philip's.

I agree with your thinking, karebr. From a soap opera drama and complication standpoint, it would be better to keep Philip as Parker's father. Now if Philip and Chloe were to become a couple, then they might have Daniel as Parker's father, just to keep things off balance.

While it would make an easy out for Parker to be Daniel's (to give Philip a reason to leave) I really don't want that to happen either.
Maybe Brady and Chloe get closer and Philip realizes that, even though he loves her, he needs to get out of Salem for a while and give Chloe a chance to find her happiness. This gives Parker a chance to stay Phil's son, whilst allowing Phil to leave.
But would you rather Philip leave or be recast?
