BRADY PUB
Shane sat back and smiled.
BO: What?
SHANE: Bo, I’m not asking you to become a full agent again. If you want to just be a liaison, that’s all you have to be. All I ask is that you regularly update the ISA on certain situations which need monitoring. If you don’t wish to go on missions, you don’t need to. Billie only did when she wanted to.
BO: Okay. Well, I’m glad we got that clear, then.
SHANE: As am I. It’s good to have you back, old friend.
BO: Good to be back, boss.
Shane and Bo shook hands.
SHANE: Now, I believe we have a reading to get to.
BO: We do indeed.
Bo and Shane paid their bill, then left.
MARTIN HOUSE
Julie’s phone rang.
JULIE: Hello? Oh, hello darling! How are you? Good, I’m glad to hear that. And how is my lovely granddaughter?
She sat down.
JULIE: Wonderful! The pictures you and Amelie have sent me are adorable! Have you picked out a name for her yet? You cannot just keep calling her Petite Fille LeClair, after all. Oh, thank goodness! What is her name? Oh. Oh Charles, darling, that is beautiful. Yes, I really do love it. All right, what is it? We could all use some good news around here. Oh, a very dear friend of a lot of people here in Salem passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago. Anyway, what’s this news you’ve got? Well, that will be wonderful! Yes, it will be so good to see all three of you and meet little…right, yes, of course. Your secret is safe with me. Promise. All right, darling. You too. Bye.
As Julie had been talking, Benny, her eldest great-niece, walked in. Julie hung up the phone.
BENNY: Hi, Aunt Julie.
JULIE: Bernice, darling, I have wonderful news. Charles and Amelie and their new baby are coming at the end of the month!
BENNY: Oh, that’s great! It’ll be nice to see them again, and meet their baby. Did they name her yet, by the way?
JULIE: They did…but I’m not allowed to say just yet. I have been sworn to secrecy. But, trust me, everyone will find out soon enough.
BENNY: Cool!
PENTHOUSE
All of John and Marlena’s family, as well as several of their friends, had gathered together. Shane and Bo walked in.
BO: Sorry we’re late, folks.
MARLENA: You’re actually right on time, not late at all.
SHANE: That’s a relief.
Aiden stood up as Shane and Bo took their seats among the many people who were already there.
AIDEN: Are we ready to start?
MARLENA: As ready as can be.
Aiden nodded, opened an envelope and cleared his throat.
AIDEN: This is the last will and testament of John Black.
Claire, who was sitting closest to her, took Marlena’s hand.
AIDEN: “I, John Black, being of sound mind, do hereby write my last will and testament. Several years ago, when they were in danger of losing their business, I purchased the Brady Fish Market, now the Brady Pub, for Shawn and Caroline Brady. Though the business is owned by the Brady family, I have retained ownership of the land up until now, the Pub has always been run by a Brady. It is far beyond time that it is properly returned to them. To Max and Chelsea Brady, I leave the deed to their family’s pub, as well as the land it’s on. It is now truly the Brady Pub once again. All of my shares in the Pub are to be divided between Caroline and Shawn Brady’s children: Roman Brady, Kayla Johnson, Kimberly Donovan, Beauregard Brady, Francois Brady and Maxwell Brady.”
Max and Chelsea took each other’s hand.
AIDEN: “As for my fashion company, Basic Black, I leave equal partial ownership to my children, Brady Black, Greta von Amberg, and Isabella Brady. My one request is that they allow those who work there to keep their jobs, so long as they wish to.”
BRADY: We will.
BELLE: Absolutely.
AIDEN: “I leave my shares in Titan Industries to be split evenly between Philip Kiriakis and Brady Black.”
Brady and Philip looked at each other and nodded.
AIDEN: “I leave my shares in EcoSystems to be split evenly between Vivian Alamain, Nicholas Alamain, Carly Manning and Philip Kiriakis.”
Vivian put a hand to her mouth. Nicholas cleared his throat.
AIDEN: “To my business partner, Steve Johnson, I leave my half of the company we created together, Black Patch. I know he will carry on the work we did together.”
STEVE: That’s a fact.
