Chapter 17

BRADY PUB
Everybody had gone back to the Brady Pub to reminisce about Roman, as well as catch up with their loved ones. Will and Allie sat at one of the tables.
WILL: I'm glad you're back, little sister.
ALLIE: Thanks, me too.
WILL: I just can't believe it. 13 years old. It seems like just a few months ago you were barely seven.
ALLIE: Yeah, it's kinda crazy.
Allie looked down.
ALLIE: Will, can I tell you something?
WILL: Of course. What's up?
Allie looked back up, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
ALLIE: I know I haven't been around for the last year or so, but...I miss Grandpa. A lot.
WILL: Come here.
Allie and Will stood. Will wrapped his arms around her.
WILL: I know you do, sis. I miss him, too.
The Chief of Police walked over to Hope.
CHIEF: Detective.
HOPE: Chief.
CHIEF: The service was beautiful.
HOPE: Well, I'm glad you could come. What you said about Roman was beautiful.
CHIEF: He was a good man. One of the best commissioners the force has ever seen.
Hope nodded in agreement.
CHIEF: I know this may not be the most opportune time, but could I have a word with you outside?
HOPE: Of course.
Hope and the Chief walked outside. Meanwhile, Sami and Lucas were sitting at a table together. Carrie walked over. Sami stood up.
CARRIE: Sami.
SAMI: Carrie.
They looked at each other, then hugged.
CARRIE: What you said at dad's funeral...that was beautiful.
SAMI: Thanks. So was what you said.
CARRIE: You know he was proud of you. He was so proud of the woman you've become.
Sami and Carrie hugged again.

DIMERA MANSION
Johnny walked into the study, where André sat at the chess board.
ANDRE: You're back.
JOHNNY: You said you wanted to see me after the funeral.
ANDRE: I did. Sit.
Johnny sat across the table from André.
ANDRE: How was the service?
JOHNNY: It was nice. I didn't know Grandpa that well, but it was all right.
ANDRE: And your sister? Where is she?
JOHNNY: She wanted to stay with my mother and Lucas.
André looked up for the board.
ANDRE: Do you play?
JOHNNY: Never learned how.
ANDRE: Then it is time to teach you.
André began setting up the chess board.
JOHNNY: I'm a bit confused about something.
ANDRE: Hm. And what would that be?
JOHNNY: Rex and Cassie. When you first brought us here, you said they were your children. Why did the priest at the funeral say that they're Grandpa Roman's children?

Hope walked back inside. She walked over to Jennifer.
JENNIFER: Hey.
HOPE: Hey.
JENNIFER: What was that about?
HOPE: The chief's appointed a new commissioner.
JENNIFER: Anyone we know?
HOPE: Cuz...it's me. I'm the Commissioner now.

Wow. Well Hope being the commissioner will be interesting. So will Johnny and Andre's apparent alliance.

Loved the moving scenes between Allie and Will and Sami and Carrie! Great to see Sami and Carrie finally getting along.

Great chapter André DiMera. Will there be previews?

Not sure how to feel about Hope as the commissioner.

Great chapter Andre. Loved how everyone is coming together after the funeral and playing nice.

Sydney walked over to Sami and Lucas' table.
SYDNEY: Mom, is it okay if I go play basketball with Ciara and her friends?
SAMI: Sure, baby. Just be careful.
Sami kissed Sydney on the cheek.
SYDNEY: Okay.
SAMI: Wait a minute. Where's your brother?
SYDNEY: He said he went for a walk.
SAMI: Did he say where?
SYDNEY: I think so. I think he said he wanted to visit Uncle André.
SAMI: André?
Sydney nodded. Sami took one of Sydney's hands.
SAMI: Sydney, I need you to listen to me, okay? Now, I know that he's your uncle, and I know this won't sound fair, but I don't want you going over to that house anymore.
SYDNEY: Why not?
SAMI: Your Uncle André...he's not a good person.
SYDNEY: What do you mean?
SAMI: He's just...I don't want you hanging around that house. It's not good for you.
SYDNEY: What about Johnny?
SAMI: I will deal with Johnny. Just, go have fun with your cousin. Make new friends. We might be here for a while.
SYDNEY: Okay, mom.
Sydney walked outside.
LUCAS: You really gonna stay in town for a while?
SAMI: Well, yeah. Carrie, Eric and I have to go through Dad's things. That'll take at least a few days. Plus, there are other things I need to do here. Such as keep my son away from his evil uncle.
LUCAS: Do you want me to go over with you?
SAMI: No, I'll be fine. I'll see you back at the apartment.
LUCAS: Okay.
Sami turned to walk away.
LUCAS: Sami?
She turned back.
LUCAS: Be careful.
SAMI: I'm a big girl, Lucas.
LUCAS: I know. But I also know how devious André can be.
SAMI: And you think I don't?
LUCAS: I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that, if recent events are anything to go by, André's just as bad as always.
SAMI: And so am I.
Sami turned and walked away.
LUCAS (under his breath): That's what I'm afraid of.

DIMERA MANSION
ANDRE: Come now, Giovanni. I'm sure by now you're old enough to understand the concept of adoption.
JOHNNY: I am, yes.
ANDRE: There you go, then.
JOHNNY: That's all it is?
ANDRE: Certainly. Cassie and Rex were Roman's children, but they're mine. I adopted them.
André chuckled.
ANDRE: Actually, I'll let you in on a little secret, but don't tell anyone. Cassie and Rex were never really Roman's children. They were always mine.
JOHNNY: Then why make everyone think they were?
ANDRE: I was a different man back then. I was...temporarily misguided, let's say.
JOHNNY: Oh, okay. But, you're good now?
ANDRE: Oh, I'm so good. I'm much better now.
André rubbed his hands together.
ANDRE: Anyway, down to chess. You see, chess is more than just a simple board game. It is...
Bart ran into the room.
BART: Boss, there's someone here to see you, and they ain't happy!
Sami quickly followed.
SAMI: Get out of the way, Bart.
Bart moved. Sami ran over to the chess table.
SAMI: Johnny, go outside. Right now!
JOHNNY: Mom...
SAMI: Now!
She turned to André.
SAMI: And you...what the hell are you doing to my son?!
André stood up. He and Sami gazed at each other.

Oooh this is going to be an epic confrontation! This is not going to go well for Sami I'm sure.

I love Sami and Lucas. It cracked me up when Sami said she had things to do like get Johnny away from his evil uncle.

I hope Johnny doesn't believe that Andre has changed. However, Sami's behavior will probably make him want to hang around Andre more.

There's the Sami that we all know and love/hate. This is gonna be good.

I have always loved how Lucas and Sami bring out the best and worst in each other and know the other better than they know themselves.

I'm both anxious and nervous about the upcoming Andre and Sami scenes.

I enjoyed the Lumi scene too. I'm not a Sami fan and I'm not an Andre fan, but they were always fun when butting heads. I like heroicmuse's description of an epic confrontation.
