BRADY PUB
BO: I was legally dead, for about an hour, maybe slightly less. Hope, you were there when it happened. A lot of the rest of you were there earlier that day, too.
Hope nodded.
BO: Well, shortly after I was declared dead, the nurses came to take me away. Turns out, though, they didn’t take my body to the morgue.
SHAWN-D: Where’d they take it?
BO: A compound out in the middle of the Mojave Desert. A compound owned by the DiMeras.
JOHN: The DiMeras, of course.
BO: Well, one specific DiMera. Stefano’s oldest and favorite daughter, Megan Hathaway.
Several people gasped. John raised an eyebrow.
SHANE: Megan Hathaway is alive?
BO: Shouldn’t be a surprise.
HOPE: That’s true. Like Bo said, she was Stefano’s favorite daughter. Plus, she’d hardly be the first DiMera spawn to rise from the dead.
SHANE: That is true.
CIARA: I’m sorry, who’s Megan Hathaway? Aside from what you’ve already said, I mean.
BO: Megan is a former friend of mine. Actually, a bit more than a friend. She and I went to high school together, and we dated before your mother and I met, Ciara. We broke up after high school when I entered the Merchant Marines. Her mother didn’t like me much. She made it look to Megan like I had left her, and to me like she had left me. A few years after I came back to Salem, so did she. By that time, I was madly in love with Hope here. Megan couldn’t handle that. She went crazy, tried to force me to get back together with her by claiming we had a child together. When that didn’t work, she tried to kill Hope.
HOPE: She would have succeeded, too, if it weren’t for Larry Welch. That’s probably the only good thing that man ever did.
SHAWN-D: I’m getting some serious Jan Spears flashbacks here.
BO: You’re not wrong. The similarities between Megan and Jan are eerie. Anyway, it turns out Megan survived Larry electrocuting her, and she went into hiding for thirty years. Part of that time, she spent recovering, with Stefano making sure that she got back to full health. The rest, she bided her time, occasionally spying on us, looking for her moment to strike. According to her, she came close to it a few times, but when she found out that I was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, she found her chance.
CHELSEA: So these fake nurses, they took you to this Megan Hathaway lady. How did she cure your brain tumor?
BO: The prisms.
CHELSEA: The what, now?
HOPE: Many years ago, Stefano faked having a brain tumor in order to convince Megan and André to help him find three prisms. The prisms were created by scientist Victor Chorvat, the father of Larry Welch. According to Larry, if the right person used them, the prisms could create cures for all manner of diseases.
BO: Exactly. Even after Stefano’s ruse was exposed, Megan never gave up looking for the prisms. Once she was healthy enough, she sent out some lackeys to find the prisms. By the time I died, she had retrieved all three. She had a scientist, some guy named Belman-
CIARA; Belman? Isn’t that…
Ciara looked at Trix.
BO: What?
STEVE: Vivian Alamain has a doctor by the name of Vincent Belman. According to her, Belman was a protege of our old buddy, Dr. Wilhelm Rolf, until he got tired of being an underling and struck out on his own.
BO: Sounds like the guy I met. He did mention Rolf once or twice. So, this Dr. Belman, he used the prisms to bring me back and cure the brain tumor. Megan also had him do a bit of poking around in my mind, made it so I would listen to her demands.
SHAWN-D: She didn’t keep you in a cage, did she?
BO: Not exactly. My cage was more metaphorical than yours. I was, essentially, her slave, but I had freedom to move around the compound.
ROMAN: So how’d you get back here nearly seven years later?
BO: I’m not gonna lie, it took me a while. When I woke up, Megan and Belman had already done the brainwashing. But even when I woke up, I felt like something was missing. I was in a relationship, albeit a forced relationship with Megan, but it was like it wasn’t the real me. I didn’t know what I was doing. Sorry, Fancy Face.
HOPE: Bo, you didn’t know what you were doing anymore than I did when Stefano made me think I was Princess Gina.
BO: Still, even though I was in this relationship, I felt like it was hollow. Like there was something missing, something big. Then I started getting memories. At first, they were just little flashes of things. Sights, sounds that I couldn’t make much sense of. Over time, they started getting stronger, more vivid. Then one night, about a week or two ago, Megan and I were sitting on the patio of the compound, listening to the radio as we watched the sunset. It was some oldies station. They played that song, Fancy Face. Our song.

BO: And everything came back. Pretty quickly, I figured out what was going on. But I didn’t let on that I knew. Megan excused herself to freshen up. She tried to convince me to come with her. Instead, I convinced her to let me stay out on the patio. I don’t know if seven years of having me constantly by her side made her soft, but she actually bought it. Once she was inside, I booked it outta there as fast as I could. I didn’t have any I.D. or money, all of my things had been left at the hospital seven years ago. So, over the next week and a half, I slowly made my way back here. Once I got those memories back, Fancy Face, I knew I had to come back to you as quick as I could. Back to you and our family.
