SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
A few minutes ago…
Stephanie and Alanis sat by Joey’s bedside. Alanis was still in a sling, but was now able to get out of bed.
STEPHANIE: I wonder where my parents went a while ago.
ALANIS: Me too.
Stephanie put a hand on Alanis’ shoulder.
STEPHANIE: Hey, it’s gonna be okay.
ALANIS: I know. I’m trying to stay strong, but…it’s been two weeks already.
STEPHANIE: It has, but these things take time. Remember when my Dad was in a coma a few years ago after fighting that creepy lookalike of my Uncle Bo in the DiMera Tunnels?
Alanis nodded.
ALANIS: I do. I know sometimes things like this can take a long time. I get that.
STEPHANIE: It’s okay if you’re not okay. You know that, right?
ALANIS: Yep.
She sighed.
STEHANIE: Have you been able to sleep much?
ALANIS: Every now and then. It’s gotten better since I got moved into this room. I think maybe I need to talk to Brandon about different ways to calm myself down since I can’t really do yoga in the hospital.
STEPHANIE: That’s a good idea.
ALANIS: Thanks for being here, Steph.
STEPHANIE: Of course.
Suddenly, the machines hooked up to Joey started beeping loudly.
ALANIS: What’s that?
STEPHANIE: I have no idea. I’ll go find a doctor!
Stephanie quickly got up and left. A moment later, she came back with Carly and a few nurses, who immediately began looking over Joey.
ALANIS: Dr. Manning, what’s going on?
CARLY: From what I can tell, it looks like Joey might be waking up.
Now
Steve, Kayla and Stephanie stood in the hallway outside of Joey’s room. Alanis, in a wheelchair, was also there.
KAYLA: So what exactly happened?
ALANIS: I don’t know. Steph and I were talking one minute, then the machines just started making a lot of noise.
Kayla sighed and nodded.
KAYLA: All right. I’m sure Carly will give us an update when she’s done.
A moment later, Carly walked out of the room.
STEVE: What’s the story?
CARLY: He’s awake.
BRADY PUB
Shawn-D clapped Bo on the shoulder.
SHAWN-D: I gotta be heading out soon, I’ve got the evening shift tonight. But we’re definitely gonna have to catch up more later.
BO: Absolutely, man. Your Mom tells me you’re doing good on the force. I’m proud of you, bud.
SHAWN-D: Thanks, Dad.
Shawn-D and Bo hugged.
BO: Belle.
BELLE: So good to see you again!
BO: You too.
BELLE: We’ll be in touch soon. We need to have you over for dinner sometime.
BO: I’d love that!
Belle and Shawn-D said their goodbyes, then left. All the others who didn’t live at the Pub had already gone home, except for Hope and Aiden.
CHELSEA: So, where are you staying?
BO: Well, the last day or two, since I got here, I’ve been staying at the Salem Inn.
CHELSEA: The Salem Inn?!
AIDEN: Which is totally unnecessary. Both Hope and I have told you you could stay with us.
BO: Yeah, I know, but I don’t wanna mess things up for you guys more than I already have. At least not on my first week back in town.
HOPE: Ugh, Brady you are so stubborn!
BO: Look who’s talkin’!
CHELSEA: Well, you’re not staying at the Salem Inn anymore, Dad. You’re staying here.
BO: Chels-
MAX: Bo, come on. You and I both know that arguing with Chelsea never gets us anywhere.
Bo sighed.
BO: That is true. All right, thank you.
CHELSEA: You’re welcome. I’ll go get your room ready.
HOPE: We should probably be going. We’ll…we’ve got a lot to talk about.
BO; That we do.
AIDEN: Which I’m certain we will in the days to come. It is good to see you, Bo, no matter how strange the circumstances.
BO: You too, Jennings. Fancy Face.
HOPE: Brady.
Hope and Bo hugged.
HOPE: Thanks for putting this all together, Chels. You too, Max. Especially on such short notice.
MAX: No problem. When you told us we needed to have an emergency family meeting, we had no idea what to expect, but this was a great surprise!
After a final round of hugs, Aiden and Hope left.
SALEM PIER
Silver waved to her mom as her car drove away. She, her girlfriend Neveah, and Sydney were wearing dresses for tonight’s Last Blast Dance.
SYDNEY: This is gonna be awesome!
SILVER: I know! I’m so excited!
NEVEAH: Me too! I’ve been waiting for this since the announcement that it was coming!
Together, the girls followed a group of their fellow students to a boat at the end of one of the docks.
