SALEM HIGH SCHOOL
As the song came to an end, all those who were watching clapped.
PHILIP: Thank you.
CHLOE: Thank you.
Philip and Chloe hugged for a moment, then went their separate ways. Philip walked over to Melanie and put his arms around her.
PHILIP: Thanks for that.
MELANIE: You’re welcome.
Their attention, as well as the rest of the crowd’s, was caught by something in the center of the dance floor. Shawn-D held out his hand, which Belle took.
SHAWN-D: It’s been over twenty years since the first time we did this. And even though we did this at our last reunion, I thought we’d do it again. So, what d’you say?
BELLE: Fine by me. As long as you’ve still got the moves, Brady.
Several people chuckled.
SHAWN-D: As long as you can still keep up, Belle.
BELLE: Oh, that won’t be a problem.
SHAWN-D: We’ll see.
He pointed at the D.J.
SHAWN-D: Hit it!
CLICK HERE to listen to the song that’s playing. The crowd watched on, several of them clapping along to the beat, as Shawn-D and Belle recreated their first dance together. It felt like it had the first time, all those years ago. As the song ended, they recreated the dip.
SHAWN-D: Want me to let go this time?
BELLE: Not on your life.
They chuckled, stood up and passionately kissed each other, to thunderous applause.
Mimi, who was among the crowd, sighed. Another song started.
CLICK HERE to listen to it.
MIMI: Just like the old days.
She felt a hand on her shoulder.
KEVIN: They were quite something, weren’t they?
Mimi turned around.
MIMI: Kevin!
Mimi and Kevin hugged.
KEVIN: Good to see you, Meems!
MIMI: You too! How are you?
KEVIN: I’m great! Still working with Apple, and loving every minute of it.
MIMI: That’s awesome! I’m so happy for you!
KEVIN: Thanks. What about you?
MIMI: I’m good, thanks.
KEVIN: That’s good. Are you here with anybody?
MIMI: Just Shawn and Belle. That’s part of what I meant when I said it was like the old days, Shawn still has two dates.
Kevin and Mimi chuckled.
KEVIN: Well then, may I have this dance?
Mimi took Kevin’s hand and the two went onto the dance floor.
BELLE: So, that was what you had to take care of while Mimi and I got ready, huh?
SHAWN-D: That is correct. What’d you think?
BELLE: Well, I wasn’t expecting it, even though I probably should have been.
SHAWN-D: I like to be unpredictable sometimes.
He winked and Belle laughed.
BELLE: I loved it. And it goes nicely with my surprise.
SHAWN-D: Oh, you have a surprise coming, too, do you?
BELLE: Yep. And I think you’re gonna like it.
SHAWN-D: Color me intrigued, Mrs. Brady.
Shawn-D and Belle kissed.
Jan watched Shawn-D and Belle from afar. Jason strolled over.
JASON: Well, well, Jan Spears. I’d heard you got sprung from the big house recently.
JAN: Word gets around quickly, I guess.
JASON: I see you’re still hung up on Shawn. Kinda surprised you’re not over there trying to get between him and Belle right now, actually.
JAN: Under any other circumstances, I would be. But, one of the conditions of me getting out of jail was that I leave them alone.
JASON: And you’re actually following the rules? Man, you have changed!
JAN: It’s better than going back to prison.
JASON: Hey, I hear you on that. You’re lookin’ good, by the way.
JAN: I’m still not taking you back, Jason.
Jason scoffed.
JASON: Like I wanted you back, anyway. As it happens, I’m already taken.
JAN: Oh?
JASON: Yep. Cynthia Austin’s finally made an honest man outta me.
JAN (under her breath): That’ll be the day.
She cleared her throat.
JAN: Well, good for you guys.
JASON: So, tell me, what kinda trouble are you cookin’ up now that you’re out.
JAN: I’m not.
JASON: Come on, you expect me to believe that?
JAN: I don’t really care what you think. I’m out of jail, and things are gonna be different this time.
Mr. Woods shook hands with Melanie.
WOODS: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Melanie.
MELANIE: Thanks, you too. Philip’s told me so much about you.
PHILIP: Well, he was one of our best teachers.
WOODS: I appreciate you saying that. You all were a great class to have during my first years of teaching.
PHILIP: Thanks, Mr. Woods.
Philip and Mr. Woods shook hands.
SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Chase walked into Claire’s room carrying a to-go bag.
CLAIRE: Well, that doesn’t look…like it came from the…hospital cafeteria.
She and Chase chuckled.
CHASE: Not quite. I figured, since you’re getting better and will be released in a few days, I’d get us a special treat. So, I stopped by the Brady Pub. I’d have been here earlier, but there was a huge line even for takeout orders.
CLAIRE: That’s okay. I’m…glad you brought something.
CHASE: You’re not on any sort of special diet, right?
CLAIRE: Nope, just my normal one.
CHASE: Okay, good. I didn’t think so, but I wanted to double-check. And I’m glad that you’re not, because I brought your favorite.
Chase set a to-go box and drink cup down on Claire’s tray table.
CHASE: We have a Brady Burger with extra sauce, fries and an unsweetened iced tea.
CLAIRE: Aw! Thank you so much! You…are the best!
CHASE: You’re welcome.
CLAIRE: I love you.
CHASE: I love you, too.
Chase set down his to-go box and cup.
CHASE: Now, as your great-grandma would say, dig in.
Meanwhile, Sarah, a few other doctors and several nurses were working on Maisy.
SARAH: Come on, folks, we’re losing her!
As fast as they worked, more blood kept coming. The machines Maisy was hooked up to were beeping frequently. Very soon, she flatlined. Sarah and the nurses made an attempt to revive her, but it was too late.
SARAH: Time of death, 9:23 p.m.
