SHAWN-D & BELLE’S HOUSE
SHAWN-D: You cannot be serious!
BELLE: Believe me, I wish I wasn’t.
SHAWN-D: But, she doesn’t have an actual case, she can’t! She tried to kill you on multiple occasions, she threatened Claire, she tried to kidnap her granddaughter. There’s no way she has a case. Does she?
Belle sighed.
BELLE: I don’t know, Shawn. I would need to more fully read over these documents. I’d like to think she doesn’t, but it depends on her record and which judge gets pulled.
SHAWN-D: There has to be some way to fight this.
BELLE: Oh, I’m sure there is, and we’re going to. When I go in to work tomorrow morning, I’m talking to Aiden first thing, seeing what he thinks about the situation. In the meantime, I’m gonna find out exactly what we’re up against.
Shawn-D nodded.
SHAWN-D: Well, knowing Jan Spears, it could be just about anything.
BELLE: That’s what I’m afraid of. Whatever this is, we’re gonna fight it. Jan hasn’t won in the past, and we’re sure as hell not gonna let her win now.
ISA HQ
Steve scoffed.
STEVE: If you think you’re gonna make some kinda deal that ends with you walkin’ off scott free, you’ve got another thing comin’.
ANDRE: Oh, ye of little faith. I’m not asking for much, certainly nothing that extreme. After all, why would I want to leave? I get three meals a day and full access to a rather extensive library. I will admit, the food isn’t exactly the sort of thing I’m used to, but one mustn’t be too picky when in this kind of situation.
JOHN: So, what is it you do want, then?
STEVE: Partner-
John put up a hand.
JOHN: Let’s hear him out. I’m interested to see where this goes.
Steve sighed and put his hands in his pockets. John turned back to André.
JOHN: Go on.
ANDRE: What I’d like is very simple. In exchange for telling you what I know about Michael Von Amberg, I’d like a radio.
John raised an eyebrow.
JOHN: A radio?
ANDRE: That is correct.
John let out a deep breath.
JOHN: Okay, I’ll bite. Why do you want a radio?
ANDRE: Content as I am with the ISA prison’s library, I find that I’m craving something more. I like to keep up to date on the news. Much as I enjoy the incessant hum of the fluorescent lighting, it does tend to get a bit old after a while. A radio would be a welcome distraction.
STEVE: We’ll see what we can do.
ANDRE: Wonderful.
JOHN: We’ll have to clear it with the ISA first.
ANDRE: I would expect nothing less. I’d also like a phone.
STEVE: You’ve gotta be kiddin’ me!
ANDRE; Oh, I can assure you, I’m not.
JOHN: Come on, man! A radio is one thing, there’s a good chance that the top brass may clear that, but a phone?
ANDRE: Those are my terms. If you’d like information on the product of your’s and Princess Gina’s affair, John, I’ll need a radio and a phone.
John turned to Steve.
JOHN: Turns out I should’ve listened to you. This was a waste of time.
ANDRE: I’m sorry to hear that you feel that way. As I said earlier, very few people know the truth of what happened to him after the unfortunate accident that wasn’t an accident and now.
John hesitated, but turned to Steve.
JOHN: Let’s get outta here.
ANDRE: Well, I wish you the best of luck in finding the information you seek by other avenues. Please, don’t forget to write. I’ll be interested to see how you make out.
Without another word, John and Steve left the room, closing the door behind them. They walked down the hall and met with Shane.
SHANE: How’d it go?
JOHN: It didn’t. It was more or less a waste of time. He wouldn’t tell us anything unless we let him have a radio and a phone.
SHANE: The radio I can at least understand, but a phone?
STEVE: Yep. No idea what he thinks he was tryin’ to pull, but we weren’t havin’ any of it.
SHANE: I knew you wouldn’t. Well, I’m sorry your trip was less than successful.
JOHN: Nothing we can do about that, unfortunately. Thanks for letting us have a crack at it, boss.
SHANE: Not a problem. Oh, before you go, do you mind taking a walk with me? There’s someone I’d like you to meet.
STEVE: Sure, lead the way, Guv’nor.
