Chapter 48

S.S. BO BRADY
It is now a few days later. Down in the lower decks of the ship, Pete was making sure that Gregor was going to recover. He was concious, but lying down. Richard walked up.
PETE: You have news, I assume.
RICHARD: Definitely. You're gonna like this, brother.
PETE: Well, spit it out, man!
RICHARD: I know where Maria is.
Gregor sat up.
GREGOR: Maria? What about Maria?
RICHARD: What? Didn't my brother tell you? Maria got captured by a cop and a former merchant marine. They, the captain, and some ninja in white damn near took the entire ship.
PETE: A few escaped, the bloody rotten deserters!
RICHARD: Anyway, as I said, a cop took her in. She's currently being held in the ship's brig.
GREGOR: I can't believe you two are still following her.
Pete took a knife from his coat pocket. He held it up to Gregor's neck.
PETE: She's our captain, lad. We owe her our lives. You'd do well to remember that.
GREGOR: She's in the brig, cousin. She doesn't have any control over us anymore. We're free to do what we like without having to worry about her.
PETE: There'll be no discussion about it. We're breaking Maria out, and that's final.
GREGOR: How do you propose to do that if she's hold up in the brig?
RICHARD: You forget our skill set, cousin. During our younger days, even before the pirate life, Petey here was an expert at picking locks.
GREGOR: I see. And, you're both sure about this?
PETE: Definitely. We're following Maria to the bitter end. Any more talk of leaving her, and I'll see you hanged!
Johnny walked up to André (who everyone still thinks is Tony) in the hallway.
JOHNNY: So, you're my dad and Uncle André's brother, right?
ANDRE: In a sense. I'm their step-brother. Though, I wish I could say otherwise.
JOHNNY: Why?
ANDRE: I don't know how much time you spent with your uncle, Johnny, but André DiMera was a very evil man. As for your father, well, I didn't know him as well as I should have liked. Though, he did seem to have similar ideals to Stefano.
JOHNNY: And what's wrong with that?
ANDRE: Let's just say that Stefano and I didn't really get along.
JOHNNY: That's unfortunate.
André nodded.
ANDRE: However, onto happier topics. You've grown quite a bit since I last saw you.
JOHNNY: When was that?
ANDRE: Oh, about seven or so years, thanks to Stefano and André. You were just a little boy back then. How old are you now?
JOHNNY: Thirteen.
ANDRE: Doesn't seem possible. You were so young last we saw each other.
André smiled.
ANDRE: Tell me, Johnny, have you ever played chess?
Johnny nodded.
JOHNNY: Uncle André was teaching it to me before we had to get on the ship.
ANDRE: Well, I have some experience in that area as well. If you're interested in continuing to learn, of course.
JOHNNY: Sure. That'd be cool.
ANDRE: Excellent.
André and Johnny walked down the hall.

I wonder if Andre really has Johnny fooled. Johnny kind of liked Andre as I recall.

Uh oh, I wonder what's going to happen with the pirates.

Chapter 49

S.S. BO BRADY
It was now evening. Sydney and Allie were getting ready for bed.
SYDNEY: Mom?
SAMI: Yes, sweetie?
SYDNEY: Where's Johnny? How come he's not getting ready for bed, too?
SAMI: That is an excellent question. And one that I intend to find out the answers to.
ALLIE: He's probably off with André.
SAMI: No, that's not possible. André's not on the ship.
ALLIE: You sure?
SAMI: As sure as I can be.
ALLIE: Okay. 'Cause there's some guy who looks exactly like him on the ship. I saw him earlier when Aunt Hope and Uncle Steve came back with the pirate lady.
SAMI: No, honey, that's not André. That's Tony.
SYDNEY: How come they look alike? Are they twins?
SAMI: Not exactly. André was your nonno's nephew. When he was a young man, your Uncle Tony and your nonno got into a disagreement. Your nonno was so mad at your uncle that he had Tony's cousin, André, change his face to look like Tony's.
SYDNEY: So, why do we call him uncle if he's nonno's nephew?
SAMI: Well, apparently, André is really your nonno's son. At least, according to André.
ALLIE: So, is Tony like André?
SAMI: I don't really know Tony that well. But, from what my mom says, Tony is very nice. He's the perfect gentleman.
SYDNEY: I'm glad. Uncle André kind of scares me.
SAMI: He has that effect on most people. But, don't worry, sweetheart. André's far away now. He's not going to hurt us again.
There was a knock on the door.
SAMI: Come in.
The door opened and Lucas walked in.
LUCAS: Came to say goodnight, since I figured the kids would be getting ready for bed.
SAMI: I'm glad you stopped by.
LUCAS: Yeah?
SAMI: Yeah, of course. Lucas, I'm always happy to see you.
Allie hugged Lucas.
ALLIE: We both are.
Lucas kissed Allie on the forehead.
LUCAS: Well, I'm always happy to see you, too. Good night, kid.
ALLIE: Night, dad.
Allie hugged Sami.
ALLIE: Night mom.
SAMI: Good night, sweetie.
Sydney was next. After Sami had given her a hug and she said goodnight to her and Lucas, Sydney and Allie went off to bed.
SAMI: So, I assume that you came for more than just to say good night to the girls.
Lucas nodded.
LUCAS: Ever since the other day when Tony came back with Steve, Hope and Alexander, I've had this feeling that I just can't shake.
SAMI: What kind of feeling?
LUCAS: I don't know. Something just doesn't feel right.
SAMI: Lucas, if you're worried about André being on board, put that out of your mind. There's no way André could be here.
LUCAS: You sure about that? Because it's not beyond André to make us think he's Tony just to make us feel safe only to tear our families apart.
SAMI: Well, even if he is, which I'm not saying he is, but even if he is André, he won't hurt our family again.
LUCAS: I hope you're right.
SAMI: Lucas, how long have you been thinking that Tony might not be Tony?
LUCAS: Ever since he came onboard. Something just doesn't feel right.
Sami looked down the hall to make sure the girls really had gone to bed.
SAMI: So have I. I didn't want to say it in front of the kids, but I have to agree. There's something not right about this whole situation.

I'm glad Lucas and Sami are onto Andre! And apparently so is Allie. This should be very interesting.

I wonder if they'll go to collect Johnny and see what's what soon.

Chapter 50

S.S. BO BRADY
André and Johnny were playing chess. Johnny moved a pawn forward. André took the pawn with his knight.
ANDRE: Checkmate.
JOHNNY: What?
ANDRE: You're surrounded on all sides. My bishop will take you if you move forward or back. My knight can take you if you move to the right. And my queen will take you if you move the left. And you can't do nothing.
Johnny tipped his king over.
JOHNNY: You win.
André and Johnny shook hands.
JOHNNY: You know, you're almost as good as Uncle André was.
ANDRE (thinking): Oh, Johnny, if only you knew.
There was a knock on the door. André stood and opened it. Sami and Lucas walked in.
ANDRE: Samantha. And Lucas, as well. What a pleasent surprise.
The three pirates walked down the hall to the Brig. Maria was lying on a cot in there.
PETE: Wakey, wakey.
Pete banged the butt of his gun on the door. Maria sat up.
MARIA: Geez, Pete! Way to give somebody a wake up call.
PETE: Only way I know.
MARIA: What are you all doing here, anyway?
RICHARD: I found you in here a few days ago. We stowed away in the cargo hold until we were sure nobody would come looking.
PETE: We're here to bust you out, love.
Pete rummaged around in the pockets of his leather hacket. He pulled out an unwound paperclip and inserted it into the lock. He began twisting it.
MARIA: Good boys.
After a moment, the door opened.
PETE: There we go.
Maria walked out.
RICHARD: So, what's the plan from here?
MARIA: We kill everyone on the ship, starting with the cop and the crew.
GREGOR: We? What “we”? Forget it, sister, we've paid our debt. We're out.
PETE: You don't speak for us, cousin.
MARIA: And don't even begin to think that you've paid your debt.
GREGOR: Look, it's so simple that even you can understand it. You saved us, we got you out of the brig. Consider us even.
Gregor turned, but soon found that Maria had put a sword to his neck.
MARIA: Where do you think you're going?
GREGOR: I told you, I'm out.
MARIA: No, I don't think so.
In the cabin of the ship, Alexander was watching out the window, while Steve was pacing back and forth.
ALEXANDER: Uncle Steve?
STEVE: What's up, dude?
ALEXANDER: Are ou seeing this?
Steve walked over to him. Alexander pointed into the distance.
ALEXANDER: Right there.
Steve looked out of the window.
STEVE: Yep, I see it.
ALEXANDER: I thought so. We'll have to tell the others, I suppose.
Steve nodded.

I wonder what Alexander saw.

I can't wait for Sami and Lucas' confrontation with André and to see Johnny's reaction.
