HORTON CENTER
ERIC: Okay. What did Dr. Horton say?
JADE: Thankfully, Emmy’s fine. Even though she was willing to steal her from me, Kristen didn’t see any point in hurting my baby.
ERIC: Well, that is wonderful news. I’m very glad for you, and for Emmy.
JADE: Thanks. And thanks again for everything, Eric. You’ve been so awesome during all of this.
ERIC: It’s no problem. Anyway, I wanted to stop by to see how your Thanksgiving was.
JADE: It was okay. Everyone here was nice. And I discovered that Emmy likes stuffing.
ERIC: That’s good.
JADE: How was yours?
ERIC: It was nice. Different without my grandmother there, but it was nice to have a lot of family around.
Jade nodded. Eric handed her the box, which had been sitting on his leg.
ERIC: I brought this for you. I meant to bring it earlier in the week, but I had a few other things to take care of before I could get the chance.
JADE: Oh, Eric. Thank you. You didn’t have to get me anything.
Jade opened the box.
ERIC: It’s no problem. I thought you might like some pumpkin pie, though.
JADE: Well, thanks. I appreciate it.
ERIC: You’re welcome.
Jade and Eric heard a small noise and looked over. Emmy walked into the room.
EMMY: Mommy!
Emmy walked over to Jade and put her hands on Jade’s leg.
JADE: Hey, little girl. What happened to you taking a nap?
EMMY; No nap.
JADE: No nap? What? You’re not tired anymore?
EMMY: No. Up.
JADE: You want me to pick you up?
EMMY: Yeah.
JADE: Okay.
Jade picked up Emmy and sat her in her lap.
JADE: Emmy, you remember Mommy’s friend, Uncle Eric. Can you say hi?
EMMY: Hi.
ERIC: Hi, Emmy. You’re getting to be so big.
JADE: She’ll be 21 months next week.
ERIC: Very good. Well, I’m glad Dr. Horton called and that at least Kristen had it in her heart not to hurt her.
JADE: Me too.
Jade kissed the top of Emmy’s head.

Chloe and Kinsey walked into the waiting room of the law firm that Aiden, Belle and Andrew Donovan shared.
KINSEY: You’re sure this is the right thing to do?
CHLOE: It is. You’ve got this, Kinsey. Like I said, I’ll be right here the whole time.
A minute later, Belle walked out from one of the offices.
BELLE: Hey.
CHLOE: Hey. Good to see you.
BELLE: You too.
Belle and Chloe hugged.
CHLOE: This is my friend, Kinsey Taylor. Kinsey, this is my best friend, Belle Brady.
BELLE: Nice to meet you, Kinsey.
KINSEY: You too.
Belle and Kinsey shook hands.
BELLE: So, why don’t you two step into my office and we’ll discuss what’s going on. This way.
Chloe put an arm around Kinsey and the two followed Belle to her office. All three sat down, Belle behind her desk, Kinsey and Chloe in the two chairs in front of it.
BELLE: So, what can I do for you two today?
Kinsey cleared her throat.
KINSEY: I, um...I kinda got into some trouble and...Chloe thinks I should talk to a lawyer about it.
BELLE: All right. What kind of trouble are we talking about?
KINSEY: Well...I’m sorry, this is really hard for me.
Chloe took one of Kinsey’s hands in hers.
BELLE: It’s all right, take as much time as you need.
Kinsey took a deep breath.
KINSEY: You know those two creepy guys who got killed on Halloween?
BELLE: I do recall that, yes.
KINSEY: I, um, I killed them.

I wonder what Belle will have to say about that. I hope she doesn't jump to conclusions.

Emmy is cute! I hope she's really all right.

Chapter 588

J, D & B LAW
BELLE: Okay, why don’t you start from the beginning? And please, make sure you’re telling me everything.
Kinsey sighed and looked at Chloe. Chloe nodded and put a hand on Kinsey’s shoulder.
KINSEY: It’s a long story.
BELLE: I have plenty of time.
KINSEY: Okay, so it was the night of the party. I was having a bit of wine. The party was boring, since all the hot guys are either taken or gay. Anyway, I went out to just relax with my drink in the hallway behind the cafeteria where the party was being held. This guy came up to me, this Green guy.
BELLE: Artōrius Green.
KINSEY: Yeah. So, he came up to me and was being really creepy. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a bit of flirting, I do it all the time, but this guy was like a top level perv. Anyway, he grabbed me by the wrist and refused to let go. He said he recognized me from when I worked for Quinn Hudson.
BELLE: You worked for Quinn Hudson?
KINSEY: Only for, like, a day, if even. I got freaked out the first time that creep gave me a job. Chloe came to my rescue and got me out of there. That’s how we became friends.
BELLE: Okay, going back to the Halloween party.
KINSEY: Right, so this Green guy said he recognized me and he and his partner, that Dante guy, said that they were gonna make me star in their next “movie”.
BELLE: Movie meaning-
KINSEY: Porn.
CHLOE: If I may interject something in here. Green used to work with Nicole’s father, Paul Mendez, as everything from his cameraman to his financial advisor. And I use the term advisor very loosely, it was more creative financing than actual earning. Green was one of the men Quinn pimped me out to during that dark time in my life.
BELLE: I understand. Kinsey, please continue.
KINSEY: So, I of course said no. I may be flirty, but I’m not a hooker or a pornstar. Well, Green and Dante didn’t like that. They said that I didn’t have a choice. I was freaking out. I thought-
Kinsey let out a sob. Chloe rubbed her back.
CHLOE: It’s okay.
Belle walked over to her mini-fridge, pulled out a water bottle and handed it and a tissue to Kinsey.
BELLE: Take as long as you need.
KINSEY (quietly): Thanks.
Kinsey took a drink from the water bottle and wiped her eyes. She took a deep breath.
KINSEY: I thought they were gonna rape me, or worse. That’s what they implied, anyway. That Dante creep told me struggling would only make it worse, and it looked like he was about to go for his belt. I was panicked. I didn’t know what to do. I tried to get away from him, but that only made Green hold tighter. I was so desperate to get away from him. So, I hit him over the head with the bottle of wine I’d been drinking from. I only wanted him to stop touching me. Then, both guys tried to grab me, so I stabbed them with the broken wine bottle. I didn’t know what I was doing, I swear. I would never purposely hurt anyone, I just wanted them to get away from me. I didn’t mean to kill them!
Kinsey leaned in to Chloe. Belle gave Kinsey a few minutes to calm down. After a few minutes, Kinsey sat back up again, Chloe’s hand in hers.
BELLE: I believe you.
KINSEY: Y-you do?
BELLE: Yes, I do. You were reacting in self-defense to a situation where you were in immediate bodily harm, possibly fatally at harm. You didn’t intend to kill them.
KINSEY: Exactly. So...now what?

SALEM UNIVERSITY
Chase sat in the cafeteria. Claire walked up and kissed him on the cheek.
CLAIRE: Hey.
CHASE: Hey. How was class?
CLAIRE: Pretty good. You?
CHASE: Not bad.
CLAIRE: Glad to hear it.
CHASE: I talked to Maddox this morning.
CLAIRE: And I talked to Alanis.
CHASE: How’d it go?
CLAIRE: It was okay. She was her usual perky self. And I’m beginning to think that you were right, and that maybe we were jumping the gun.
CHASE: I’m not sure. Maddox was pretty cagey when I tried to talk to him. Then again, I wasn’t exactly being subtle, so who can blame him?
CLAIRE: So what now?
Chase shrugged.
CHASE: Dunno, really.
CLAIRE: Guess we’ll have to see what happens when we have practice for karaoke night tomorrow.
CHASE: Yep. This’ll be interesting.
Chase took Claire’s hand.
CHASE: I’m sorry we fought.
CLAIRE: Me too.
Claire and Chase hugged.

BELLE: Now we make our next move. And our next move would be to turn yourself in.
KINSEY: That’s what Chloe said.
BELLE: Chloe is right. It will be better for you, in the long run, if you turn yourself in. You may have to do some jail time until your hearing, but I will do what I can to make sure you don’t do much.
KINSEY: Why? I’m a murderer.
BELLE: You’re not a murderer, Kinsey.
KINSEY: I killed two people. How is that not murder?
BELLE: You killed two people because you were reacting in self defense. From everything you’ve told me, murder was not your intent at all. You feared for your safety, possibly your life, and you protected yourself the only way that you could.
Kinsey nodded.
BELLE: Now, hopefully, your hearing won’t be too far away. At the hearing, I will present a case for self defense, based on what we’ve talked about here.
CHLOE: I’ll help in any way that I can. I’ve had dealings with Green before, and so has Nicole. If there’s any way we can help…
BELLE: Green’s record is being looked into, as is Dante’s. I’m sure there will be plenty for the police to look at. But, having statements about his behavior and actions over the years could be helpful. Now, when you talk to the police, I will be with you. I will advise you on what to answer and make sure the police don’t try to trap you into saying anything that could be taken the wrong way.
CHLOE: I’d like to come, as well.
BELLE: I’m not sure that’ll work.
KINSEY: Please? I need Chloe there! She’s one of my only friends, and she’s helped me through all of this!
BELLE: Chloe can come with you to the station if you’d like. However, once we speak to the cops, I don’t think she will be allowed to come with.
Chloe put an arm around Kinsey.
CHLOE: But I will be here for support and waiting to hear what happens, okay?
KINSEY: I guess.
BELLE: So, are you ready to talk to the police?
Kinsey nodded.

Im glad Belle is on Kinsey's side. Hopefully she supo get bail and then this can be settled quickly.

Im also glad Claire realizes she jumped the gun but I wonder what Maddox might do thanks to Chase questioning him.

Belle, Chloe and Kinsey walked into the station. Shawn-D looked up from his desk and walked over.
SHAWN-D: Belle.
BELLE: Hi, Shawn.
SHAWN-D: Well, this is a nice surprise!
BELLE: Not so nice, actually. I’m not here for a visit, I’m here on legal business.
SHAWN-D: What’s going on?
BELLE: There has been a development in the murder case from Halloween night.
SHAWN-D: I’ll get Rafe, he’s in charge of the investigation.
BELLE: Thank you.
Shawn-D nodded to Chloe and Kinsey, then turned and walked into an office. Kinsey took a deep breath. Chloe put a hand on her shoulder.
CHLOE: Do you need anything? Is there anything I can get you?
KINSEY: Just for this to be over.
BELLE: It will be, hopefully soon.
Rafe walked out of his office.
RAFE: Belle.
BELLE: I’d prefer Mrs. Brady at the moment, since I’m here in my official capacity as a lawyer.
RAFE: Fair enough. What can I do for you?
BELLE: The three of us need to speak in private.
Belle gestured to Chloe and Kinsey. Rafe nodded and motioned for them to follow him. They walked into his office, and he shut the door behind them.
RAFE: Shawn tells me that this is about the double homicide on Halloween night.
BELLE: It is. This is my client, Kinsey Taylor. I believe you already know Chloe Lane.
RAFE: I do, yes.
BELLE: We have something to tell you.
CHLOE (whispering): Go ahead, Kinsey.
KINSEY: I, um...I’m here t-to...to turn myself in. I killed Green and Dante.
RAFE: You did?
Kinsey nodded.
BELLE: It’s not quite as cut and dry as that. My client had reason to believe that she was in physical danger, possibly fatal danger, and that there was no way to get out of it than to use force.
RAFE: I see. Before we go any further, let me just read you your rights.
Rafe read Kinsey her rights, then continued.
RAFE: Since your lawyer is already here, you wanna tell me how it happened?
Kinsey looked at Belle.
BELLE: It’s okay, Kinsey. Tell Officer Hernandez what you told me.
Kinsey took a deep breath and told Rafe about what had happened that night. In another part of the station, John and Steve were looking over CCTV footage from the hospital again. The hospital had sent over a few new tapes from the night of the party. John paused the video he was watching.
JOHN: Hey, partner, come take a look at this.
Steve paused his video and walked over to John.
STEVE: What’ve you got?
John rewound the video slightly and played it. Though her face was hard to see, they saw the altercation between Green, Dante and Kinsey.
STEVE: Well, that is definitely not Nicole or Taylor Walker.
JOHN: Nope. And it also looks like this may have been a crime committed in self-defense rather than murder.
STEVE: You got that right. Only question is, who’s the young lady those two creepers are tryin’ to grab?
JOHN: Good question. I’ll send this through an ISA program, see if we can enlarge the image without pixelation.
STEVE: Either way, we gotta get this tape to Hernandez.
JOHN: That’s a fact.
Rafe sighed after Kinsey explained what happened.
RAFE: And you’ve never encountered either of these guys before?
KINSEY: No.
BELLE: This is a clear case of self defense. As my client has stated, she was afraid that these men were going to rape her, or worse.
RAFE: That’s for the court to decide. Here’s the deal, I’m gonna have to take you into custody for tonight. You’ll have a hearing in the morning to discuss bail and/or argue self defense.
KINSEY: So, you’re keeping me overnight?
RAFE: Until your hearing tomorrow, yes. As of now, you are in police custody.
BELLE: Kinsey, I’ll meet you in the morning to discuss your case before the hearing, okay?
Kinsey nodded.
CHLOE: And I’ll be there, too. We’re gonna get through this, Kinsey.
Rafe stood up.
RAFE: Let’s go.
Rafe put Kinsey in handcuffs.
CHLOE: Stay strong, Kinsey. This’ll all work out.
KINSEY: I hope you’re right. Goodbye, Chloe.
Rafe led Kinsey out of the room.

I hope John and Steve hurry up with getting Rafe that tape.

It's not surprising that Kinsey was arrested for now but I hope gets a fair hearing in court.
