Chapter 493
HOPE & AIDEN’S HOUSE
That evening, Claire had arrived at the house. Both Hope and Aiden were still at work. Chase kissed her on the cheek.
CHASE: Just let me change, and I’ll be ready to go.
CLAIRE: Sounds good.
Chase walked up the stairs. Claire turned around and checked me make sure her phone was turned down. Then, she looked at her promise ring. She heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
CLAIRE: Wow, that was quick..
Claire turned around and found Ciara walking down the stairs.
CLAIRE: Oh.
CIARA: Claire, hey.
CLAIRE: Hi.
CIARA: Can we talk?
Claire shrugged.
CLAIRE: Sure.
CIARA: I, uh...I’m really sorry.
CLAIRE: About what?
CIARA: Everything. All the trouble I caused last night, and especially this morning. I knew it was stupid getting drunk, but I did it, anyway, and I know I shouldn’t have. Then I woke up and Trix and I were in bed, and I was just so embarrassed and worried that we had gone too far with each other. And you were so great to me last night and this morning, and I know you were just trying to be a good friend, and I threw it back in your face. I was horrible to you! I shouldn’t have taken things out on you, you totally didn’t deserve it. You were trying to help, and I get that now. I’m just really sorry!
Claire nodded.
CLAIRE: Thank you for the apology.
CIARA: I don’t know what I can do to make this up to you, but whatever it is, just tell me. I hate myself for the way I treated you this morning. I’m so stupid!
Ciara sniffled.
CLAIRE: Hey, stop calling my best friend stupid!
CIARA: We...we’re still best friends?
CLAIRE: Of course we are! Look, Ciara, I might not be thrilled about what you guys did last night, or what went down this morning. I might be a little hurt by what you said, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna be your best friend anymore.
CIARA: Really? Claire, how can you be so nice to me after all the stuff I said this morning?
CLAIRE: Because I know that that wasn’t you. I know you weren’t thinking straight. And, like I said, you’re my best friend and I love you.
CIARA: I love you, too.
Ciara and Claire hugged.
DIMERA MANSION
Melanie backed up slightly.
MELANIE: How do you know my name?
PETER: Melanie, it’s me.
MELANIE: Answer the question. How do you know my name? Who are you, anyway?
PETER: I’m...I’m a friend.
MELANIE: That’s not an answer. How did you get in here?
PETER: Through a door. I found the door to Dr. Rolf’s lab and started walking down the halls.
MELANIE: Does my father know you’re here?
PETER: No, Daniel has no idea.
MELANIE: Daniel? Who’s Daniel?
PETER: Dr. Daniel Jonas, your father.
Melanie scoffed.
MELANIE: My father isn’t Daniel Jonas. He’s André DiMera.
PETER: André?
Peter coughed to keep himself from laughing.
PETER: There’s no way that André DiMera is your father.
MELANIE: He is. I am his youngest daughter, Melanie DiMera.
PETER: No, you’re Melanie Jonas, the daughter of two doctors in Salem, Daniel Jonas and Carly Manning.
MELANIE: You’re trying to confuse me. My father said that someday somebody would try to fill my head with lies. Now, I’m gonna ask you one more time, who are you?
PETER: Man, they said you wouldn’t be yourself, but I didn’t think you’d be this bad.
MELANIE: Unless you want another muffin thrown at you, you’ll tell me, right now, who you are. I will not be asking again.
PETER: All right. All right.
Peter put his hands up.
PETER: I’m someone who loves you.
MELANIE: Still not an answer.
PETER: All right, here’s your answer. I’m your ex-husband, Philip Kiriakis.
