Chapter 479
CHEZ ROUGE
After lunch, the three were sitting at the table talking. Vivian had just left the table for a moment.
NICHOLAS: I’m sorry about Aunt Viv. She can occasionally be a bit protective.
HADLEY: Oh, it’s okay. I don’t mind.
NICHOLAS: Don’t get me wrong, I love her the death. I mean, she practically raised me. She almost thinks of me as a son sometimes, and she’s always been like a second mother to me. But, there are times when she goes a little too far.
HADLEY: I really don’t mind. She seems nice, in a unique way.
NICHOLAS: She can be. Just…
Nicholas hesitated.
HADLEY: What?
NICHOLAS: Be careful around Aunt Viv.
HADLEY: What do you mean?
NICHOLAS: Like I said, she’s very protective of me.
HADLEY: Mr. Alamain, I thought we agreed that this was a business arrangement.
NICHOLAS: You know that, and I know that. I’m not sure that Aunt Viv does, though. I don’t want to alarm you, I’m just saying, be careful with what you say around Aunt Viv.
HADLEY: Well, I’m sure she wouldn’t do anything...extreme, right?
Vivian walked back to the table.
VIVIAN: Well, how are we doing?
NICHOLAS: We’re great.
VIVIAN: Excellent. I must say, that was a marvellous lunch, Nicky. Now, if you don’t mind, I think I’ll have Ivan take me home.
NICHOLAS: Oh, are you sure?
VIVIAN: Yes. I so enjoyed getting to see you hard at work. And, it was wonderful to meet you, Hadley. I’m certain we’ll be seeing more of each other.
HADLEY: I hope so. It was nice meeting you.
Vivian kissed Nicholas on the cheek.
VIVIAN: I’ll see you at home, darling.
NICHOLAS: have a good afternoon, Aunt Viv.
DIMERA MANSION
PETER: Mind if I come in?
Tony stepped to the side to let Peter walk in.
PETER: Place hasn’t changed much since the last time I was here.
TONY: No, it appears that some things never change. You’ll have to excuse me, but I wasn’t quite expecting to see you.
PETER: No, well, you wouldn’t have been. I didn’t make my return known to anyone. I’m sure you know why, or can at least guess.
TONY: Please, do tell.
PETER: I’ll give you a hint. It has to do with a man who shares your face.
TONY: Ah, André. I might have known.
PETER: Yep. The last time he and I were in the same place, things didn’t turn out so well. Speaking of which, where is he?
TONY: He’s gone underground. No doubt sulking in one of the secret rooms or possibly the tunnels.
PETER: Good to know. Well, at least he’s not out in the open.
TONY: No, but I should caution you, it’s when he’s not seen that André is most likely to cause trouble.
PETER: I’ll keep that in mind. Now, pardon me for asking, but it looks like you were on your way out. I hope my sudden reappearance hasn’t interfered with anything important.
TONY: No, I was on my way into work from taking a lunch break.
PETER: Well, then I won’t keep you. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of time for us to catch up this afternoon. I’ll just get my things set up here. It’ll give me a chance to look around, see how things are.
TONY: All right. Well, I’ll see you later, then.
PETER: I look forward to it.
Peter grinned as Tony walked out the door.
PETER (under his breath): And I look forward to having the Mansion to myself for the next few hours so I can find out what André’s up to.
