Chapter 473 KIRIAKIS MANSION PHILIP: Father, please. VICTOR: That’s a serious question. I am genuinely beginning to wonder if you’ve lost your mind. Philip, what on earth are you thinking, getting involved with Melanie Jonas again. PHILIP: I’m not getting involved with her again. VICTOR: You know this will only end badly. You do know that, don’t you? She’ll end up breaking your heart like she did last time. PHILIP: That was a long time ago. Things have changed. VICTOR: Nobody changes that much. PHILIP: Would you rather it was Chloe I was going after? VICTOR: Believe it or not, I almost think I would. Honestly, son. I cannot believe that you’d allow yourself to get roped into this. PHILIP: Father, if you would let me finish, please. I said that I am not going to be involved with her again. This is a search and rescue mission. And even if I did want to be involved with her again, which I’m not saying I do, but even if I did, Melanie likely doesn’t remember me. Or, if she does, she probably doesn’t remember our relationship. I mean, you remember what Brady was like when he was like when Abe found him. VICTOR: I do, indeed. The poor lad didn’t know himself from Lexie Carver. Victor shook his head. VICTOR: Nonetheless, I also know you. You have brains, Philip, but when it comes to women, you start thinking with your other head. You have a certain knack for being seduced by women like Chloe Lane, Stephanie Johnson and Melanie Jonas. PHILIP: Look, when you gave me the job of CEO and announced your retirement, you told me that it was my turn to be in charge, that I had to make the tough decisions. Well, I am. This is my decision, and it’s final. I wasn’t telling you because I wanted your opinion, I was telling you as a courtesy, and to explain my absence over the next few weeks. VICTOR: So, that’s your decision, then? No matter what I have to say about it? PHILIP: Yes. VICTOR: Good, you’re finally beginning to act like a man. Now, as for the company, I assume you won’t just be leaving it unattended while you galavant off to God knows where in search of your ex? PHILIP: Of course not. I have a bit more sense than that. On the way home from D.C., I made a few phone calls, and I believe that I have found some suitable temporary replacements. VICTOR: Replacements? As in plural? Philip’s phone went off. He looked at it. PHILIP: They’re here now. A moment later, Henderson walked in. HENDERSON: Mr. Kiriakis, your guests have arrived. PHILIP: Bring them in, please, Henderson. And, they’re not guests, they’re family. HENDERSON: Very well, sir. Henderson walked out. A moment later, two men who looked to be a few years older than Sonny, walked in. MAN #1: So, this is the famous Kiriakis Mansion, huh? MAN #2: Nice! VICTOR: My word. Is it- PHILIP: Yep. Father, I’m sure it’s been a long time since you’ll have seen either of them, so let me reintroduce to you Joseph and your namesake, Victor Kirakis II. MAN #1: Actually, I’d prefer it if you called me Jody. MAN #2: And I go by Vic now. Hey, Big V. It’s been a long time.

Well, this is interesting! I wonder how Victor is going to react to seeing Sonny's brothers. I had to laugh at Victor's assessment of Philip because it sounded like a perfect description... of Brady. Great chapter André DiMera. Will there be previews?

Joseph and Victor! Great choices by Philip. Boy, his father really put him through the wringer with all these questions. As I recall, Philip always called Victor "Dad." EJ called Stefano "Father."
Great chapter.

I'm looking forward to seeing Sonny's brothers in Salem. I enjoyed Philip and Victor's conversation. Will there be previews André DiMera?

Hahaha! Vic sounds like he's going to be fun. I can already see Victor's skin crawling with the nickname Big V.
I'm kinda sad to see that Victor feels that way about Melanie. They had developed respect for each other that was on a different level than anyone else. It was definitely different from the respect that we would expect, but for those two, you can't expect normalcy. LOL

Glad you guys are enjoying the story! Thanks for commenting!
Next week... Justin and Adrienne's twin sons have come home to Salem! JODY: So, this is the Kiriakis Mansion, huh? VIC: Hey, Big V! This week, Philip gives them their duties. PHILIP: We have to go over a few things. Meanwhile, Vivian continues plotting her next move. VIVIAN: Well, this should be interesting. And Hope has an idea. HOPE: What do you think? All this and more next week on THE MELASWEN PARADOX!

Ooh I can't wait to see what the twins do. I'm sure Victor will just love dealing with them. Lol I'm curious what Hope's idea is. Vivian's plan should be fun. Great previews André DiMera.

Chapter 474 SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL David stood at the nurse’s station. He watched as several doctors and nurses passed by. One of them was Carly. David looked, but tried to make it look like he wasn’t. Kayla walked over. KAYLA: David, hi. DAVID: Hey, Kay. KAYLA: What brings you here? Is everything all right? DAVID: Oh, yeah. Totally. I’m just meeting Scott for lunch in about ten, fifteen minutes. Say, while you’re here, i wanted to ask you your opinion about something. Have you got a minute? KAYLA: I’m sure I do. I just need to put some files in my office. Do you mind coming with? DAVID: Not at all. David followed Kayla as she walked down the hall. KAYLA: So, what’s on your mind? Is it medical? DAVID: Uh, no. More personal, actually. KAYLA: David, I thought we discussed this already. DAVID: No, not like that. Believe me, I totally understand that you’re married, and Steve’s actually a pretty cool guy. I’m over that. No, this is about one of your staff. KAYLA: All right. Go on. DAVID: What do you think of Carly Manning? KIRIAKIS MANSION Joseph, or Jody, and Vic were practically identical. Both were wearing suits, but Jody was wearing a straight tie, while Vic wore a bowtie. Victor stood and shook their hands. VICTOR: Well, this is quite a surprise. So, the two of you are taking over Titan while Philip is away, then? VIC: Sure are, Big V. Victor winced slightly. PHILIP: You all right, Dad? VICTOR: Fine. Just a slight twinge. It’ll pass. Now, boys, take a seat. Tell me how things are going at Titan’s Dubai office. Victor sat back down, as did Philip and the twins. VIC: Things are great! JODY: Shares are up, moral’s good, and sales are improving. VICTOR: Excellent. So, when did you change your name? I only ever hear about you from your father, and he still refers to you as Joey. JODY: Of course he is. It’s been a few months. I changed it because I didn’t think Joey sounded professional enough, but I also didn’t think Joseph fit. So, when I got promoted to be co-CEO of Titan Dubai with Vic, I started going by Jody. VIC: And, of course, I’ve gone by Vic since I was a teenager. VICTOR: I see. VIC: Jax is still in town, right? JODY: He goes by Sonny, Vic. He’s gone by Sonny since we were kids. VICTOR: Yes, Sonny is still in town. He manages a club. VIC: Awesome! We’ll have to go check that out! JODY: And see Mom and Dad, of course. Anyway, we’re both really looking forward to working for you, Uncle. VICTOR: Well, technically, you’re not working for me, you’re working for Philip. JODY: Right, of course. PHILIP: Speaking of which, we have to go over a few things with regards to Titan. Philip and the twins stood up. VIC: Right. You lead the way, Phil. See ya later, Big V! Victor winced again. JODY: We’ll see you soon, Uncle. Vic and Jody followed Philip out of the room.

For some reason, I don't trust Vic or Jody. They seem a little shady and pretty disrespectful to Victor and their role at the company.
I didn't remember that David was interested in Carly. I wonder how Kayla will respond.

Hopefully Philip won't be gone long. Vic and Jody don't seem very serious about the job.

Chapter 475 SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL KAYLA: Well, Dr. Manning is an excellent doctor. She’s made great strides in healing coma patients, and she’s always done great work for this hospital. DAVID: I mean, what do you think of her on a more personal level? KAYLA: Carly and I have never had any issues. She’s a good person. Why? What do you think of her? DAVID: I don’t know. I mean, she seems really nice. I don’t really know her, but she’s been cool to me the few times I’ve met her. I’m just not really sure if she’d be interested in a dude like me. Sorry, is this weird, me talking to you about this? I’m only asking because, well, you know, I value your opinion on stuff. KAYLA: Not at all. We know each other well, and I’m glad that we can still talk openly with each other about things. DAVID: Yeah, same here. KAYLA: As for whether or not she’d be interested, the best way to find out is to ask. You never know unless you try, right? DAVID: Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, I think I might ask her for a drink or coffee or something. Thanks, Kay. KAYLA: You’re welcome. David looked at the clock on the wall. DAVID: Well, I should probably go. It’s about time for Scott to go on his lunch break. Thanks again. KAYLA: I’ll see you later, David. Good luck. DAVID: Thanks. David turned and walked out of Kayla’s office. KIRIAKIS MANSION Philip, Jody and Vic walked into a hallway. PHILIP: Okay, first thing’s first, no matter what my father says, you still report to him. I will be unreachable for the duration of my leave. JODY: Understood. PHILIP: And Vic, stop calling him Big V. He hates it. VIC: But I’ve always called him Big V. JODY: Look, when we were kids, it was cute. Now? Not so much. PHILIP: Exactly. VIC: So, what exactly should I call him, then? JODY: Just call him Uncle like I do. PHILIP: Or, just call him by name. Actually, Jody’s suggestion is probably better. Now, moving on, as you both are probably aware, the Kiriakis name is a powerful one. However, you don’t become powerful without gaining some enemies. If you find yourself in a situation in which you need help with a particularly nasty opponent, call this number. Philip handed both of the twins a business card. VIC: Who’s Nico? PHILIP: A long time associate of our family. He’s very good at cleaning up messes and taking care of people who are problems. Use his number when needed, but do not abuse it. Jody nodded. PHILIP: And lastly, be on the lookout for Alamain Industries and DiMera Enterprises. They’re our two biggest competitors, and their home offices are also in Salem. VIC: Don’t worry, Phil. JODY: We’ll make sure we watch out for them. We won’t let you down, Philip. PHILIP: I hope not. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I should be packing. I’ll have Henderson show you to your rooms. Philip walked away.
