When I saw it was a cruise ship, I thought it was going to be Doug and Julie. Maybe Steve found a way out of Melaswen.

Chapter 24

SHIP
Hope and Aiden boarded the ship. Hope smiled when she saw Steve.
STEVE: Dudes! Welcome!
Hope and Steve hugged. Steve and Aiden shook hands.
STEVE: Welcome to the S.S. Bo Brady.
HOPE: You named it after Bo?
STEVE: Sure did.
AIDEN: So, you're captaining this ship?
Steve shook his head.
STEVE: No, our captain will reveal himself in due course. I am the first mate, though. Good to see you again, Aiden.
AIDEN: Likewise.
HOPE: When exactly did all this happen?
STEVE: Well, after Bo passed, as you know, I took his motorcycle for a ride to clear my head. After a couple weeks, I came back and found that the entire town of Salem was deserted.
HOPE: So we were moved to Melaswen after Bo's death.
AIDEN: Melaswen?
STEVE: Yep. An island just outside the Bermuda Triangle that's identical in every way to Salem. And yeah. Sometime in the weeks following Bo's death, you all got moved here. The only question is, by whom?
HOPE: That's easy. André. We already know that he owns the island.
STEVE: True. Had an idea that you might have been sent here again. So, I went traveling until I could find someone willing to get me a boat. Met our captain. He didn't have a name for this boat, so I named it for him. Explained the situation, and he brought me here.
HOPE: And here you are.
STEVE: Yep. So, let's gather everybody up and get 'em off this god forsaken rock.
HOPE: We will. But, first thing's first. You need to get back to your family, and we all need to have a town meeting.
STEVE: Great. Let's get Roman on that, then.
AIDEN: We kinda can't.
STEVE: Why not?
HOPE: A lot's happened in the months since we got taken here. Among other things, the town's got a new commissioner. Me.
STEVE: Well, congrats.
HOPE: Thank you.
STEVE: So, what happend to Roman?
HOPE: Roman's dead.
STEVE: Dead?
Hope nodded.
HOPE: André caused an explosion shortly after we found out that we weren't in the real Salem. Roman and I were in a cop car. Roman flew through the window and landed facedown on the pavement.
STEVE: Dammit! Well, one thing's for sure, when we get off this place and find André, we're gonna make the son of a bitch pay.
HOPE: Get in line, Steve. There's a lot of people who want to make Stefano's demented nephew pay. And we will.
Hope and Steve hugged.
HOPE: I'm just so glad you're back. I know Kayla will be, too.
STEVE: Me too.
KAYLA: Me too.
Steve, Hope and Aiden turned to see Kayla and Joey standing on the boat.
JOEY: Dad!
STEVE: Joe!
Steve ran to his family and pulled them into a hug.
STEVE: Sweetness! Oh, sweetnes it is so good to see you!

Aww yay! Steve and Kayla are reunited! I really hope all this is real. I want to know who the captain is.

Chapter 25

HORTON TOWN SQUARE
The next day, Hope and Rafe had called everyone they knew into the square. Well, everyone except for the DiMeras, that is. Hope had assumed, correctly, that they were behind everyone being on Melaswen in the first place. Steve gave everyone the story of his travels since Bo's death.
KAYLA: I knew you would come back to me.
STEVE: I always do, sweetness.
Steve and Kayla kissed.
AIDEN: So, what now?
HOPE: The plan from here is that we all get on the ship. Steve and our captain will be able to navigate us back home.
SHAWN-D: What about Belle? She and at least one other person are still in a coma.
KAYLA: Dr. Jonas, Dr. Horton, his daughter, Dr. Banning, Maxine and myself, as well as the other doctors, will be looking after them.
TOMMY: Thankfully, their condition is stable enough so that the move will not affect them. I assume that the ship does have a medical ward, Steven?
STEVE: It does, yeah. And, you can just call me Steve. Or Patch, whichever.
JOHN: Or dead-eye.
Steve and John chuckled and shook hands.
JOHN: Good to have you back, partner.
STEVE: You too.
SCOTTY: So, who is our captain? And where is he?
STEVE: He's running a little late. He'll be here, though. Don't worry.
FRANKIE: So, we get on the ship, and then what?
HOPE: We go home. To the real Salem.
LUCAS: Isn't Melaswen in the Bermuda Triangle?
STEVE: Close. Very close, actually. It's right next door. If we happen to veer off even a little to the right, we'll be in the triangle. But, don't worry, this dude is a skilled captain.
ABE: Personally, I am looking forward to being home. This could definitely work, people. If this captain Steve's gotten is as good as Steve says he is.
STEVE: He is. Trust me.
Steve's phone went off.
STEVE: He's here. Ladies and gentlemen, your captain.
A young man, a few years older than Shawn-D walked into the Sqaure.
CAPTAIN: Hey, everybody.
Justin, Adrienne and Sonny walked to the front of the crowd.
JUSTIN: Alex?
CAPTAIN: Yep. I'm back.
Alexander Kiriakis walked over to his parents and youngest brother and gave them a big hug.
ADRIENNE: I'm so glad you're home!
ALEXANDER: Me too, mom. Me too. Dad.
JUSTIN: Alex.
ALEXANDER: And Sonny. What's up, little bro?
SONNY: Not much. Excited to get back home.
ALEXANDER: Well, wait no more.
Alexander walked over to Hope and Steve.
ALEXANDER: If everybody would please follow me, the S.S. Bo Brady awaits.
Everyone clapped and cheered.

Alexander! Yay! Can't wait to see what he's like.

John and Steve crack me up. Steve and Kayla are so sweet together. Glad they're on the same page.

Chapter 26

S.S. BO BRADY
It took several hours, but eventually, everybody in the town (sans the DiMeras, naturally) had packed up their things and boarded. Steve blew the horn of the S.S. Bo Brady, and it left the docks, and Melaswen behind. Steve and Kayla had gotten their own room.
KAYLA: I cannot tell you how happy I am that you're back.
STEVE: Not half as happy as I am to see you, sweetness. I'm just sorry that it took me so long.
KAYLA: I always knew you'd come back to me. Always.
STEVE: Must be that woman's intuition you keep tellin' me about.
Steve and Kayla laughed, and kissed.
KAYLA: You do know that I would have come with you, right?
STEVE: I know. Next adventure, I promise, you'll get to come with. I promise.
KAYLA: Good. So, did you get the answers you needed?
STEVE: I think so. I think I've finally made peace with it.
KAYLA: It's hard. It's been hard on all of us. But, the important thing is, we're together now.
STEVE: Now and forever, sweetness.
Steve and Kayla kissed again. There was a knock on the door.
STEVE: We're busy!
The knock came again.
KAYLA: Just get it. Whoever it is, they don't seem like they're gonna go away.
Steve walked over and opened the door. Jade entered. She looked pale.
KAYLA: Jade?
JADE: Hi, Dr. Brady. Is Joey here? I need to talk with him.
There was a knock on the door of the room Chase and Aiden had taken.
CHASE: Come in.
The door opened, and Claire walked in.
CLAIRE: Hey.
CHASE: Hey.
CLAIRE: I hope I'm not interrupting. I just wanted to see how you're doing.
CHASE: Great. Got my stuff in here, thanks to my dad, Hope and Ciara.
CLAIRE: That's good.
CHASE: What about you?
CLAIRE: Oh, yeah, totally. I got my stuff all together. I'm a couple doors down. Room 102.
CHASE: That's good.
CLAIRE: Yeah. So...you wanna hang out, or something?
CHASE: Yeah. I'd like that. Did you want to go somewhere and talk? Or, we could stay here, if you'd rather.
CLAIRE: Either way.
CHASE: Take a seat.
Chase nodded to the bed. Claire sat down. Chase rolled his wheelchair next to her.
CHASE: So...
CLAIRE: So...
CHASE: I'm glad you came to see me.
CLAIRE: Yeah?
CHASE: Yeah. I like you, Claire.
CLAIRE: I like you, too.
CHASE: So, I was wondering if we could maybe talk about what you said that one night.
CLAIRE: Which night?
CHASE: The night of the explosion. The night we kissed. The night you told me you loved me.

I love your version of Steve and Kayla! They are so sweet and loving, as it should be!

I am so excited about Chase and Ciara's talk. Eager to see what happens next.
