Brady can not miss that meeting with Victor and the other division heads ... I know we already know this is headed toward dark times for Brady but I can't help wanting to see it turn out better for him. Thanks for the chapters Kpatch and giving us insight into Brady's state of mind.

VIENNA, MONDAY MORNING

Brady left Victor a message saying he couldn’t make the conference call today. He could just imagine Victor’s reaction to that, but it probably would be more tame than Victor’s reaction to Titan Europe’s sales figures. Lesser of two evils, Brady decided. So he and Chloe took a taxi to the Opera House this morning, Brady filled out an application, and they waited in the audience for Brady to be called to try out.
Chloe: Are you nervous?
Brady: A little. Been a long time since I sang in public.
Chloe: You’re going to be great. You’re singing my favorite song, so I know they’ll love you as much as I do.
Brady: Ha. I hope not.
He kisses her as he hears his name called.
Brady: That’s me.
Chloe: Break a leg.

Brady walks up to the microphone on stage and the producer asks him a few questions, the first being what is his native language.
Brady: English.
Producer: Do you speak Austrian?
Brady: Ein bisschen.
Producer: Where have you sung before?
Brady: State fairs. College productions. Local theater in the United States.
Producer: Sorry, but we were looking for someone with professional credentials to play the part of Umberto.
Chloe gets out of her seat and walks down the aisle to address the producer.
Chloe: Georg, you have to hear him to appreciate what a wonderful talent he is.
Producer: Ah, Chloe, so this is the person you were telling me about yesterday. Your husband?
Chloe: That’s right.
Producer: Very good. Please proceed, Mr. Lane.
Brady: It’s Black. Brady Black.
Chloe: I have an idea! Georg, would it be okay if I sang with Brady?
Producer: Yes. Please proceed.
Chloe looks at Brady and nods as Brady starts to sing “All I Ask” from Phantom of the Opera, a capela, and Chloe joins in. As they sing, Brady and Chloe get lost in each others eyes and it’s as if there’s no one else in the theater except the two of them.*

Chloe feels so much love for Brady and so much pride as she listens to Brady’s voice fill the room. She feels like her heart is going to burst. After they finish singing, Brady completely forgets he’s on an audition. He gathers Chloe in his arms and kisses her.

Producer: Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Lane. We will be making our decision shortly.

That producer is a moron... Brady already said his last name is Black!

Phantom of the Opera I got to see for free on Braodway (NYC).. I had won the tix in a raffle & my sister & I had such a blast that day!!

Poor Brady. He is getting to be known as Chloe's husband. Not a person of his own. I hated when I was known as Greg's sister. Yup the whole school year that was my name to the teacher. Great chapter Kpatch. Trying to peek at tomorrow's chapter,. but can't find it. LOL.

What a nice chapter. Hated they referred to him as Mr. Lane however I love their singing and I miss it a lot. I wish they would show Chloe singing with Eric's Brady on the show.

CAFE DAMEL, VIENNA

Chloe and Brady are having lunch together, chattering away about the audition.
Chloe: There is no way you won’t get the job. You were amazing. You blew me away.
Brady: I loved singing ... I loved singing with you.
Chloe: It’s sort of addictive, isn’t it?
Brady: I’m still reeling from the high. I can see why you love performing so much.
Chloe: I’m so excited for you. For us. She reaches for his hand across the table. Brady, this is going to bring us even closer. It’s a dream come true. Ever since the first time we sang together in Salem, I dreamed that we would perform together someday. I’m so excited I want to shout. Sorry, am I babbling?
At that moment a group of men enter the restaurant. They are laughing and being a little rowdy.
Brady: Weren’t those guys at the audition too?
Chloe: I think you’re right.

The men pass Brady and Chloe’s table as they head over to another table. One of them stops and looks at Chloe and Brady.
Man: Weren’t you at the audition this morning?
Brady: That’s right.
Man: Congratulate me. You’re looking at the next Umberto in Peasant’s Paradise.
Brady: They made their decision?
Man: Yes! And it’s me.
The man leaves Brady and Chloe to join his friends.
Chloe: Brady, I’m so sorry.
Brady: Yeah, me too. But hey, no big deal, you know? Good thing I didn’t quit my day job.
Brady laughs and tries to sound upbeat. He doesn’t want Chloe to see how disappointed he really is.
Chloe: There’ll be other auditions, Brady. Almost no one gets the part their first time out. But it was good practice for next time, you know?
Brady: Sure. Next time.

I had a feeling that Brady would not get the job. Victor is going to be so angry when Brady does talk to him later. I am not so sure about him not quiting his day job. Looling forward to the next chapter. Thanks for all the fan fiction stories Kpatch.
