Chapter 17 AIRPLANE SYDNEY: That was the first time I was ever able to tell anyone that I loved them. CERI: I'm glad you were with me in there. SYDNEY: I'm glad I was, too. CERI: Let's see. What other good times have we had? Oh, remember the time we compared scars? SYDNEY: Oh, yeah. That was just shortly after I got shot at by my da...by E.J. SYDNEY'S BEDROOM – FLASHBACK It had been about a week and a half Sydney had gotten shot by E.J. She had come home after only a few days, but had been told to take it easy for a while. Ceri stopped by and knocked on the door. SYDNEY: Come in. Ceri walked in the room. She was carrying her backpack. CERI: Hey. SYDNEY: Hey. Ceri kissed Sydney. Then, she sat on the edge of the bed and set her backpack down. CERI: How are you feeling today? SYDNEY: A little better, thanks. First day back on solids, so I've had some toast and eggs. CERI: That's nice. SYDNEY: Yeah. And my stomach only hurts a little when I try to get up too quickly. But, that'll get better with time. Ceri nodded. She picked up her backpack and went inside of it. CERI: I brought some more bandages, in case you needed any. SYDNEY: Thanks. That's sweet of you. CERI: Well, you are my girlfriend, and I want to take care of you. SYDNEY: You are. And I love you for that. CERI: Well, I love you, too. SYDNEY: Even though I've got a hole in me? CERI: Of course. SYDNEY: Have you seen it? Sydney pulled up her shirt a little bit, revealing a white bandage over a small portion of her stomach. She peeled the bandage off, showing Ceri where the bullet had hit her, which had left a scar. SYDNEY: It's gross, right? She quickly put a fresh bandage on and covered it up. Ceri stood up, kicked off her shoes, and put her right leg on the bed. SYDNEY: What are you doing? Ceri pulled up her left pant leg. CERI: See this? She pointed to a scar that ran from her knee to halfway down her shin. SYDNEY: How did you get that? CERI: I got it when I was about twelve. Rhiannon and I were playing with this one former friend of mine, a girl named Lillith. Anyway, we were playing in a field near our house, and I tripped over a piece of gardening equipment, resulting in this thing. SYDNEY: Ouch! CERI: Yeah. But, it got better. And, so will yours. It just takes time. SYDNEY: Yeah. CERI: And, of course, I love you. I loved you since I first met you, and I will always love you. Never forget that. SYDNEY: I won't. And, I love you, too. More than I can say. Ceri pulled her pant leg back down, got up on the bed, and laid next to Sydney. CERI: I'm glad you're feeling a little better. SYDNEY: Thanks. Me too. Ceri and Sydney kissed.

Wow, so Lilith was a problem from the beginning. Why do I think Ceri's accident was her fault somehow? LOL Great flashback and great chapter André DiMera!

Chapter 18 AIRPLANE SYDNEY: Hard to believe that it's six months we've been together. Ceri nodded. CERI: I know. Sometimes it seems like forever, then other days it seems like no time has passed at all. SYDNEY: Yeah. Ceri put her head on Sydney's shoulder. CERI: Remember the day you proposed to me? SYDNEY: Of course. It was a beautiful day. SALEM HIGH AUDITORIUM – FLASHBACK Ceri walked in. Sydney stood on the stage. There was music playing. Click here to listen to it. CERI: Hey. SYDNEY: Hey. Ceri walked onto the stage and she and Sydney kissed. SYDNEY: How are you? CERI: I'm good. How are you? SYDNEY: Great. CERI: That's good. So, what's this big surprise I've been told to come here for? I see that you're playing our song. SYDNEY: Yep. And the surprise is coming in a minute. But first, dance with me. Ceri smiled and took Sydney's hand in hers. The two danced together until the song finished. SYDNEY: And now, it's time for the surprise. CERI: Okay. SYDNEY: I'm a little nervous. So, this, um, might take me a minute. CERI: It's okay. Take as much time as you need. SYDNEY: Ceri, I love you. CERI: I love you too. SYDNEY: And, these last two years have been the best of my whole life. CERI: Mine too. SYDNEY: You've made me the happiest girl in the world. And I never want it to end. I want to be able to spend the rest of my life with you. Now, of course, we'll wait until after graduation. And, I just want to know...if you think you'd... CERI: Sydney, are you asking me what I think you're asking? SYDNEY: Yeah. A tear came to Ceri's eye. Not out of sadness, but of joy. SYDNEY: So, what do you think? I guess I'll do this the traditional way, even though I don't have a ring yet. Sydney took Ceri's right hand. She knelt down on one knee. SYDNEY: Ceridwin Lynette Alamain, will you marry me? Ceri gasped. CERI: Yes! Of course I will! Sydney took the ring out of the box and slid it onto Ceri's finger. Then, she stood up and the two kissed.
AIRPLANE CERI: I loved that day, and every day we've spent together since. SYDNEY: Me too. Ceri and Sydney kissed. PILOT (VO): Ladies and gentlemen, we are now beginning our descent into Cardiff Airport. We ask that, if you have gotten up, you please return to your seats at this time and fasten your seatbelt. We also request that you put all electronic devices away, and put the seat back tray table back in its upright position. We thank you for your cooperation during the flight and for traveling with us on Air Wales. We hope you have enjoyed the flight and will consider traveling on Air Wales in the future. SYDNEY: Well, here we go. Ceri and Sydney took each other's hand.

Chapter 19 CARDIFF BAY – Cardiff Carrying their suitcases, Ceri and Sydney walked into the middle of the bay area. CERI: Cardiff! SYDNEY: Cardiff! Ceri pointed to a slab of pavement. CERI: Look at that. SYDNEY: What? Ceri led Sydney over to a pavement slab just outside of the Wales Millennium Centre. CERI: This is it! SYDNEY: For real? CERI: Yep. This is the entrance to Torchwood 3! SYDNEY: Awesome! So, this is where the Rift is, then? CERI: Definitely! SYDNEY: Sweet! Wonder if anything will come out of it. CERI: Probably not. It's been inactive for years. SYDNEY: Yeah. Plus, last time anything came out of the Rift, it was a homicidal blowfish. The girls laughed, and carried on walking. CARDIFF MARRIOT HOTEL Later, Sydney and Ceri had gotten to the hotel and were unpacking their things in the room. SYDNEY: I know we've only been here for about half an hour, but I love this place already! CERI: Me too! SYDNEY: I've always wanted to stay at a Marriott Hotel! CERI: So have I. I'm glad we were able to get in. SYDNEY: Thanks to you making these awesome reservations. CERI: Well, I figured since this is the last three nights of our honeymoon, we should do it in style. SYDNEY: Nice! CERI: Wanna go swimming in a bit? SYDNEY: Sure. But first... Sydney picked up an envelope that was in her suitcase. SYDNEY: I have something for you. CERI: Really? Sydney nodded. SYDNEY: It's in here. CERI: What is it? SYDNEY: Well, you need to open it. Sydney hands the envelope to Ceri. Ceri opens it and pulls out two tickets. CERI: No way! SYDNEY: Mmhmm. CERI: I don't believe this! SYDNEY: Believe it! CERI: You got us tickets to the Doctor Who Experience?! SYDNEY: Yep! CERI: This is fantastic! Ceri and Sydney hugged. CERI: Thank you so much! SYDNEY: You're welcome. We're going tomorrow afternoon. CERI: I can't wait! This is gonna be awesome! Ceri and Sydney kissed. SYDNEY: I love you. CERI: I love you. They kissed, then Ceri hung the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.

Cardiff reminds me of one of my favorite books of all time which was set in Wales — The Citadel by AJ Cronin.

Chapter 20 CARDIFF MARRIOTT HOTEL Next morning, the girls were still in bed. Sydney was first to wake up, and laid her head on Ceri's shoulder. A short time later, Ceri woke up. SYDNEY: Hey. CERI: Hey. How did you sleep? SYDNEY: Awesome. You? CERI: Great. SYDNEY: That's good. Sydney kissed Ceri along the neck, up her cheek, and finally on the lips. The girls laughed. CERI: That is a beautiful pool at this hotel. SYDNEY: It totally is! This whole place is beautiful. Makes me kinda wish we could stay here. CERI: Yeah, I know what you mean. SYDNEY: So, you ready for today? CERI: So ready! SYDNEY: That's good. So am I! CERI: This is gonna be awesome! Then again, any day I get to spend with you is the best. SYDNEY: Aw! The girls kissed again. CERI: So, you ready for breakfast? SYDNEY: Maybe in a few minutes. Sydney pulled the covers up a little higher. SYDNEY: First... The girls began kissing. CERI: Mm. I like this idea. They laughed, and then resumed kissing. CARDIFF BAY Later, the girls were making their way down the street. CERI: I'm so excited! SYDNEY: Me too! This is gonna be awesome! I'm so glad you got me into Doctor Who, and all of its various spin offs. CERI: I'm just glad you enjoy them! SYDNEY: I really do! As they got closer, their excitement built higher. Then, they were on the steps outside of a large building with a large sign that read: “The Doctor Who Experience”. CERI: Look at that! SYDNEY: It looks so cool! CERI: It's beautiful. Just then, a man walked past them. MAN: Excuse me. Ceri did a double take, as she got a brief glimpse of him. CERI: Did you see that? SYDNEY: What? CERI: That man. Was that...? Sydney followed Ceri's gaze. SYDNEY: No, I don't think so. CERI: I think it is! I mean, they do film in Cardiff, after all. SYDNEY: True. Maybe it is. CERI: We've gotta find out! SYDNEY: Well, let's go in, then! So Ceri and Sydney set off inside after their mystery man.
