I think Philip would like to have some say in decisions regarding his son. Maybe he wants the conversation to happen naturally at home. I think Philip feels stress and anxiety in Dr. Richards' office.

Chapter 9c
“I just think ….”
“Think what?” Chloe asked. “That things are going to work out for us?”
Philip nodded. “Don’t you?”
Chloe nodded and nudged him playfully. “I’m counting on it. But I guess I’m just being protective of our son. I mean, we followed all of Mary’s other rules. Don’t you think we should follow this one too?”
“I don’t know. I guess.” Philip looked upward. “Yes. Yes, I’m sure you’re right,” he conceded. “We should definitely follow this one too. I’m just anxious to get our life back.”
“Get our life back? By that, do you mean … move back in with us?”
“That’s exactly what I mean. Isn’t that what you want?”
“I’d love that Philip. More than anything, but I think we should consult with Mary about that too.”
Chloe was about to let her head fall onto Philip’s shoulder when he suddenly got up off the bed and started to pace. “Damn. I’m getting a little tired of Mary directing every aspect of my life.”
“Me too. But you said it yourself. She’s an expert on these kinds of things and we’re clearly not. Listen.” Still sitting on the bed, Chloe smiled and reached for Philip’s hand. “I have an idea. It’s kind of a compromise.”

I'm curious to hear Chloe's idea. In general, I think it's important to get Dr. Richards' input. But I can see Philip's point. It's important not to be dependent on her and to make their own decisions about their lives even though they need her support and input. Great chapter Kpatch.

Good for Chloe for doing some problem solving! I totally understand Philip's frustration, but he does need to acknowledge that Dr Richards' ideas have worked so far. I do think he and Chloe would benefit from continued joint and individual counselling even after they are back together. Their problems didn't start overnight and won't be fixed as quickly as they might like.

I can understand both points of view. It's not a good idea for them to let her run their life, but her help is good. Wonder what Chloe's compromise is. Great chapter, Kpatch!

I wonder if Philip will agree with Chloe's compromise. I'm glad they are both on the same page about their relationship.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your patience with me and this story. It's really hard for me not to post every day. If I did, though, the story would be finished too soon and I have nothing to share afterwards. All my "free" time is being spent working on my next novel—Book 2 in the Pass Interference series, which I am obligated to complete by the publisher's deadline. Good news/bad news: There's also a Book 3. I will see if I can squeeze in writing a fanfic in between. Not sure at the moment.
I hope you're enjoying the story even though the chapters are short and posted only a couple times a week. I'm really excited about what's coming though. This week will see the start of one of my favorite vignettes. Breakfast with the Kiriakises! Can't wait to share it!

Chapter 9d
Chloe was about to let her head fall onto Philip’s shoulder when he suddenly got up off the bed and started to pace. “Damn. I’m getting a little tired of Mary directing every aspect of my life.”
“Me too. But you said it yourself. She’s an expert on these kinds of things and we’re clearly not. Listen.” Chloe smiled and reached for Philip’s hand. “I have an idea. It’s kind of a compromise.”
When he looked at her skeptically, she said, “Why don’t I join you guys for breakfast?”
“That’s a compromise?”
“Well kind of. We get to have breakfast together as a family.”
Philip gave Chloe a half smile. “You just want to keep an eye on me and make sure I don’t let Parker have anything he shouldn’t be eating.”
“That’s not true.”
Philip smiled and pulled Chloe to her feet. Putting his hands on her hips, he said, “You have trust issues.”
Chloe chuckled and rested her arms on his shoulders. “I’m working on those … as you know. But don’t you think it would be nice for Parker if all three of us have breakfast together?”
“I’d love it, but you keep saying it’s too soon to tell him.”
“Too soon to tell him about us, yes. We’re not telling him anything without Mary being there. But that doesn’t preclude us from eating a meal together, right?” She played with the hair at the back of his neck. “Unless you really wanted it to just be the two of you.”
He leaned forward and kissed her. “A family breakfast is a great idea. I like the way you think.”
“Sex stimulates my brain activity,” she joked.
“Then we will definitely have to do that more often.”
“So where are you taking him?" she asked. "Please tell me it's not to McDonalds.” Philip’s lips parted but he didn’t say anything. “I see. So,” she thought for a minute. “I know! How about International House of Pancakes? They have a lot of healthy choices, and you can still have your pancakes.”
“I like that idea too.”
“Good!” She stepped away and started walking toward the bedroom door.
“Hey….” Philip caught her hand. Chloe approached him again and he took her in his arms. “Sorry our reconciliation wasn’t exactly the romantic night we planned.”
She linked her fingers behind Philip’s neck. “I don't know what you mean. I thought it was very romantic. Waking me up in the middle of the night and whispering sweet nothings in my ear. It was perfect, Philip.” She kissed him softly.
“I bet I can top last night,” he said as he tightened his hold on her.
“I bet you can, and I’d love to see you try.”
Licking his lips, he said, “Tonight?”
“You’re on, Soldier.”
