Chapter 53a
That night, Chloe was sitting on the bed slipping into her high heels when she cocked her head to look at Philip. “You know, even after all these years I’ve known you, you still manage to surprise me.”
Philip was adjusting his cufflinks in the mirror. “What do you mean?”
“I’m still in shock that you wanted to dress up for dinner. When we were planning this vacation, you kept saying ‘I wear a suit to work every day and I want to go somewhere on vacation where I don’t need to wear one.” Chloe imitated Philip’s voice as she spoke. “It was like a mantra. I mean, you hired a private yacht so you can do whatever you want and dress however you want, and—”
Philip interrupted. “And tonight I want to wear a suit,” he said matter-of-factly.
“Like I said, you still surprise me.”
“I hope that’s a good thing.”
“It’s a very good thing.” She eyed him up and down. “Speaking of which, you look good, Mr. Kiriakis.”
Philip was about to slip on his suit jacket, but he laid it aside and sat down on the edge of the bed next to Chloe.
She leaned over and kissed him.
Taking her hand in his, he linked their fingers and looked down at their joined hands. His silence was a little disconcerting. “Are you okay, Philip?”
“If you think dressing up was a big surprise, wait until you hear about the real surprise.”
Chloe looked puzzled. “Real surprise? What are you talking about?”

I know what I WANT the surprise to be....but I really don't know what Philip has up the sleeve of his suit jacket!

I'm anxious to see the surprise.
I'm glad Chloe packed appropriately despite Philip telling her he didn't want to wear suits on vacation.

Well captains CAN perform marriages so I see a small intimate wedding ceremony and then a BIG party when they get back to Salem!

Chapter 53b
“If you think dressing up was a big surprise, wait until you hear about the real surprise.”
Chloe looked puzzled. “Real surprise? What are you talking about?”
He nodded. “I want to ask you something.”
“What?”
He looked up and locked eyes with her. “Will you marry me?”
Chloe laughed. “Of course. The invitations are in the mail. No backing out, remember?”
“I’m not talking about that wedding.”
Chloe’s brow knit. “That wedding?? What do you mean by that wedding? What wedding are you talking about?”
“The wedding we’re having tonight.”
“Tonight??”
“You said you want an intimate wedding, and I want to make my Chloe happy.” He kissed her knuckles. “I spoke to Captain Nyland and he agreed to marry us, so … will you marry me … tonight?”
Chloe’s lips parted. “Tonight?”
“You said that already,” he chuckled. “Hey, you want intimate, and I can guarantee this will be intimate. It’ll be just the two of us getting married at sea under a canopy of stars. Pretty romantic, huh?”
She stared at Philip in disbelief. “Incredibly romantic.”
“Of course, we’ll still have the wedding in June at the Crystal Gardens like we planned. I mean, no one has to know about this wedding except you and me.” He paused to chuckle. “And no singing. So…?”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“You only need to say one word.” He looked deeply into her eyes and whispered, “Say yes Chloe.”
“Philip, I’m speechless. You are so sweet to me. … You have no idea how often I wonder what I did to deserve a man like you. So if you want to marry me tonight, the answer is yes. Yes, I’ll marry you tonight. I’d marry you any night. Every night.” She put her arms around Philip and closed her eyes as she hugged him.
He felt his heart soar. “Okay then. Let’s do it.” He rose to his feet and held out his hand.
She slipped her hand into his. Then she looked down at her dress. It was a black dress with three-quarter sleeves, a heart shaped neckline, and flared skirt. There were crystal buttons down the bodice and she wore a gray shawl. “Do I look alright? Is it bad luck for the bride to wear black?”
Philip eyed her up and down and licked his lips. “Not when that bride is you.” He brought her hand to his lips. “You’re perfect, sweetheart. You take my breath away.” He grabbed his jacket with his free hand and slung it over his shoulder. He offered her his arm and when she took it, he said, “Let’s go.”
