Chapter 46b
“I think she's taken more than enough breaks,” Chloe said with a roll of her eyes.
“Okay, whatever. Look, I’m tired of talking about Kpatch, okay? Let's get this guest list wrapped up,” he said. Philip returned to reading. “Mary Richards and Dick Van Dyke, and last but not least, George and his wife, another spouse whose name we can’t remember or never knew.” When Philip got to the end of the list, he merely stared at the iPad screen.
Chloe watched his face for a reaction, but there wasn’t any. “Well? What do you think?” she asked. “Any other additions or deletions?”
Philip shrugged. “No. It’s a fine list. Any list without Kate’s name on it is a good list. But I’m not sure I’m on speaking terms with my father after the things he said when he found out we got engaged.”
“Ugh. What else is new?” Chloe remarked.
“I’m just … I’m not sure all these couples are couples anymore. Like Will and Sonny. And Justin and Adrienne. I think Adrienne is with Lucas now, and we already crossed Lucas off the list.” Chloe opened her mouth to say something, but Philip wasn’t done yet. “Billie and Bo and Hope in the same space is a recipe for disaster. And if we invite Nicole, are we going to invite Daniel? You told me they’re together, right?” He turned his head to look at her. “Do you really think all these people will come?”
“Maybe not. But maybe yes. … Philip, if we used relationship status as a criteria for inviting people to our wedding, we’d still have only three people on that list. It’s not our problem if all these people have a history with each other.” She placed her hand on his arm. “Besides, it’s just for one evening. Or afternoon. Or morning. It’s only a few hours, Philip. They can handle being together for a few hours, right?”
Philip thought about holiday gatherings at the mansion over the years, but shook off that thought. Nodding slowly, he looked back at the list. “So, no one from the office? No clients or vendors?”
“I don’t think so, unless you really want to.” She rested her chin on his shoulder for a minute. “I mean, there are a lot of people we work with who I like, but if you invite one, as CEO, you have to invite them all.” Leaning away, she added, “Besides, you know me, I’d rather not open up our personal life to our colleagues. They already know way too much about us. Are you okay with that?”
“Yeah. No argument here. I think we have a winner.” Handing her back the iPad, he said, “Let’s get those invitations in the mail.”
“No. We can’t.”

I'm hoping that the reluctance to send out invites is only because they don't have a date/time/place? And not for other reasons... It was good to see George on the list--you had the fanbase worried, boss! Can we have a contest to name George's wife? My immediate thoughts were Martha (like Washington) and Louise (like Jefferson)...

Wonder why they can't send the invites out in the mail yet. Glad to see George's name on the list. Thanks for the chapter, Kpatch!

I'm glad Chloe isn't letting other people's problems with each other get in the way.
I wonder why she doesn't want to mail the invitations.

So glad that George was finally added to the list. I like Louise for George's wife's name. If she's anything like George, I'm sure she's a spit-fire and softy all at the same time. Just like Louise Jefferson

Hurray for George on the list And I am assuming it's because they didn't finalize a date or venue yet and that's why she held off the invites

I agree that they can't worry about who has past connections when they are making a guest list. Good point about having to invite everyone or no one at the office since Philip is CEO.

Chapter 47a
“I think we have a winner.” Handing her back the iPad, Philip said, “Let’s get those invitations in the mail.”
“No. We can’t.”
“Huh?”
“Um. Philip. We still haven’t finalized a venue. We can’t confirm a date without knowing where we’re getting married. And we can’t get invitations printed without all of the above.”
“Now I remember why we got married at City Hall.” When Chloe gave him a look, he quickly added, “I’m just kidding, sweetheart. Despite having been married three times, I apparently know very little about the behind-the-scenes process,” he noted. “So, when were you thinking?”
“Well.” She bit her lip. “I would kind of like to be a June bride this time. I’ve never been married in June before. Have you?”
Pausing a minute to think, Philip squinted. “Not that I can remember. I know I’ve gotten divorced in June, but I don’t think there are any negative wedding associations with the month of June.”
“So we’re on for June!”
“Let’s do it,” Philip agreed.
Chloe smiled broadly for a second. Then her smile faded. “Now all we need to figure out is where.”
“Oh. Right. There’s that,” he mumbled.
“Would you be opposed to a church wedding?” she asked.
“No, not if the church isn’t.”
“Oh, you mean because we’ve both been divorced. A lot,” she added. “So we can’t get married by a priest.”
He rubbed his chin. “Hmmm. What about Eric Brady? He’s a priest, but he’s a family friend—” Chloe slowly shook her head no. Philip raised his brows. “No? No what? Not a friend anymore or not a priest?”
“Defrocked. But listen, we can get married by a minister. They have fewer restrictions.” She furiously typed something into her tablet. “Ooh Philip! I’ve got it. Look at this. They have a place for weddings at the Navy Pier!”
“On the Ferris wheel?”
“No silly. Here. Look at this. It’s the Crystal Gardens, where we went to dinner on my birthday.”
Philip licked his lips remembering the virtual sex they had as they danced. “I remember,” he said, putting an arm around her and squeezing her close.
“It’s such a pretty setting,” she observed as she pointed at the pictures. “Don’t you think so? Completely glass enclosed, including the ceiling, like a greenhouse.”
Philip took the iPad back and read the description of the wedding venue out loud. “The Crystal Gardens on Chicago’s Navy Pier is home to a beautiful, one-acre botanical garden. The garden is housed in a six-story glass atrium with a 50-foot arched ceiling, and combines the wonder of the outdoors and comfort of the indoors. Beautiful surroundings make it the ideal place to host weddings and wedding receptions. We have more than 80 live palm trees, lush foliage, hanging twinkle lights.” Philip scrunched his face.
“What’s the matter?”
“Hanging twinkle lights aren’t exactly my style.”

I love Navy Pier! Hope they go with Crystal Gardens. Wonder what Philip's problem is now. Can we please have previews, Kpatch?

Crystal Gardens sounds lovely...they just have a morning or afternoon wedding so the lights aren't on. There. Problem solved, Mr Kiriakis.
And previews would be great, if that's doable!!
