As for Stephanie giving back the ring. I thouht that if it was the girl that broke of the engagement then the ring was retuned, but if it was the boy that broke of the engagement the girl keeps the ring. (That is how it happened with my brother and the way it was explained to me at the time. I was pretty young then) As for Melanie and Chloe they did get married no need to return the rings.

You're right. That's the way I've always heard it too. I think what's strange is, even though these people have broken up ages ago (at least to us anyway) they're all still wearing their rings. If I were to tell my husband I wanted a divorce, the first thing I would do is take my ring off. I don't think I'd give the engagement ring back, but I would at least take it off.
