This pic right here makes JPL look too much like John Black's son, not Victor Kiriakis. JPL will never be Philip. He's too monotone and expression-less. Even when Victor was telling him to get out, we didn't get the heartbreak that I would have expected to see. I can easily picture how JKJ would have played that scene out. We got barely a couple of tears from JPL, but JKJ would have had tears running down his face at Victor's words. Victor's approval and acceptance has always been a huge issue for Philip and there should have been sooo much more emotion from him than what we got. JPL is making Philip seem like an unconcerned, only out for himself person and that was not Philip. And this whole taking Belle back thing. I can't see Philip doing that. They didn't have the ill-fated, star crossed lover romance that they are trying to portray on the screen right now. Belle crushed Philip and I don't see him welcoming her back in his bed as fast as this Philip has. Belle was by no means that one that got away for him. |

I agree with everything that mae00 said only I don't even see him as John black's son either To me he's salems village idiot Not sure why he's there or if I'm suppose to feel bad for him I haven't a clue He gets harder for me to watch which sucks because the Deimos story with victor is actually interesting This guy ruins everything he's in IMO |

doolfan4life - I just meant that his expression resembled that of some of the expressions I've seen from John. John's expressions irk me so that one really turned me off to JPL. The Deimos storyline had so much freaking potential but the writers are destroying it. Victor has built an empire on being crafty & conniving but the writers are making him seem like an old washed-up has been who has lost all sense of his former self. Then the emotionless acting by JPL just makes it harder for me to get into the storyline. So very disappointed with it.

Not only does JPL's Philip not seem like Philip at all because of his expressionless line delivery, body language and facial expressions, but his doesn't dress as well as JKJ's Philip. Philip is a sharp and meticulous dresser who wore his suits well and rarely with his tie not fully tied to the collar of his shirt. He never looked disheveled and rumpled.

Very good points. Philip was always sharp and pulled together unless he was drunk. I don't think Jay as Philip ever wore his overcoat collar up the way John Paul does. Frankly, that doesn't bother me. I see that as JPL trying to create a style for Philip that he can own.

There's an online series called Winterthorne that features a lot of DAYS actors, John Paul Lavoisier being one of them. This man is waaaay better looking when he doesn't talk.  |
