I am going to try to make Maggie's Lemon Squares. I'll let you know how they turn out. I wonder if they are the same ones Lucy makes in the Peanuts Cookbook. It's hard to choose because I love it all but probably the candied yams and the much-maligned green bean casserole. Everyone makes fun of it but I LOVE it. I even love the leftovers. YES!! Me exactly! |

My mom used to make Watergate Salad it came out about the time the Pretzel Salad did. Those Jello people were busy flooding us with recipes. There were two more jello recipes we were served but not on Thanksgiving. One had vanilla ice cream as an ingredient and the other those little cinnamon candy hearts and applesauce. Occasionally We did have Watergate salad for Thanksgiving in the late 70's early 80's.

I checked the Lemon Square recipe. I think it is very close to the same one Aaron makes. He used to use lemon zest and he isn't supposed to have that now. He will be able to eat them again with this recipe.

That looks about right. They should be really lemony underneath with the sweetness of the powdered sugar on top.
