Do you have a favorite dish that you look forward to eating every Thanksgiving? Or a new recipe you are looking forward to trying this year?

Stuffing! I also love Ron's homemade cranberry sauce. It's almost like dessert. It's so good. Oh, and pumpkin pie. I love pumpkin pie. What are the rules? Do I have to choose just one? LOL.

My favorites -- stuffing with gravy, turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy and of course, gravy with gravy.

I like turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, pecan pie, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, broccoli salad, pretzel salad, homemade rolls and stuffing (I can have them if made with einkorn flour) and veggies with dip. Cranberry sauce is about the only thing I don't care for, but I will drink it if it is juice. I'd also have to make the pretzels for pretzel salad so chances are I won't be having that. Someone around here called themselves Glutarded and that would be me as well.

We have soooo much food it's hard to choose, but I've always been partial to stuffing. A lot of my favorites I can't eat anymore because I'm on a low sugar diet (I'm pre-diabetic). I am still mourning the loss of peanut butter pie.
Anyway, I make a sugar free noodle kugel every year which I've already made this year and am looking forward to eating, and this year we will have a sweet potato/squash dish I'm looking forward to trying. My uncle is on a low fat vegan diet and my sister-in-law is vegetarian so there's always some interesting dish for them that I enjoy as well. Also we have sugar free cranberry sauce. I believe this year there's a no sugar added apple pie on the dessert table too.

Pretzel salad is good stuff. It is more of a dessert. It is best the day you make it because the pretzels will get soggy if you save it for the next day. It is an old recipe from the 70's I think it might have been put out there by the Jello people.
STRAWBERRY PRETZEL JELLO SALAD 2 c. crushed pretzel sticks 3/4 c. melted butter 3 tbsp. sugar 8 oz. cream cheese 1 c. sugar 8 oz. Cool Whip 1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry banana Jello 2 c. boiling water 2 (10 oz.) pkg's. frozen strawberries, partially thawed Mix first three ingredients and press in bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees (metal pan) or 325 degrees (glass pan) 8 minutes. Let cool completely. Beat 1 cup sugar and cream cheese. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over pretzels. Mix Jello and water until dissolved. Add strawberries. Stir into Jello, then set aside for 10 minutes. Pour over cheese mixture. Chill.

I am going to try to make Maggie's Lemon Squares. I'll let you know how they turn out.

I am going to try to make Maggie's Lemon Squares. I'll let you know how they turn out. I wonder if they are the same ones Lucy makes in the Peanuts Cookbook. It is Aarons book from his childhood and he makes them.

It's hard to choose because I love it all but probably the candied yams and the much-maligned green bean casserole. Everyone makes fun of it but I LOVE it. I even love the leftovers.

I love sweet potatoes, stuffing with lots of gravy, and rolls because I love bread...and then I hit the dessert table. We always have Watergate Salad, or as my grandma called it for us grandkids...Green Slime.
Watergate Salad
Ingredients 1 (4 ounce) package instant pistachio pudding mix 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple with juice, undrained 1 cup miniature marshmallow 1⁄2 cup chopped nuts (we use pecans) 1 3⁄4 cups non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
Directions Stir pudding mix, pineapple with juice, marshmallows and nuts in a large bowl until well blended. Gently stir in whipped topping. Refrigerate one hour or until ready to serve.
