Looks like there will be a limited revival series that picks up where the original Gilmore Girls left off, and with most of the original cast. OMG. I really hoped for something like this when the show originally ended. So excited. Gilmore Girls Limited-Series Revival Set at Netflix — This Is Not a DrillSources confirm that Netflix has closed a deal with Warner Bros. for a limited-series revival of Gilmore Girls penned by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and exec producer Daniel Palladino. Although negotiations with the cast are only now beginning, I’m told all of the major players — most notably Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson — are expected back for the continuation. Additionally, per multiple insiders, the revival will consist of four 90-minute episodes/mini-movies. Reps for Warner Bros. and Netflix declined to comment for this story. The deal allows Sherman-Palladino — who left the original series prior to the final season amid a contract dispute with Warner Bros. — to conclude Gilmore Girls as she always intended, right through to those elusive final four words. AS-P addressed the possibility of a revival over the summer when she reunited with the show’s cast at the ATX TV Festival. “It would have to be the right everything — the right format, the right timing,” she said. “If it ever happened, I promise we’ll do it correctly.” When I interviewed AS-P in 2009 at Entertainment Weekly, she conceded that the events of the show’s final seventh season didn’t match up with the end game she envisioned for Lorelai, Rory & Co. “I haven’t [actually] seen the last season,” she said at the time, “but I heard about it from other people.” Even back then, AS-P remained hopeful that she would get to conclude the Gilmore story on her terms, via a limited series or movie. “The beauty of Gilmore, and the beauty of family-relationship shows, is you never really run out of story,” she said. “You’re going to battle your family until you’re all in the ground. Those things never resolve, doesn’t matter how much therapy you get. Ten years later, there’s still going to be [material] there to mine and to delve into.” Gilmore Girls premiered on the now-defunct WB network in 2000, before transferring to spinoff net The CW in 2006 for its final season. tvline.com/2015/10/19/gilmore-girls-revival-netflix-new-episodes/

Thanks Kpatch. I never was into that show but my sister loved it. I'll have to make sure she knows. I'm sure she'll be happy.

I loved this show. I did not love the ending because it wasn't written by Amy Sherman-Palladino. I'm excited to revisit the Gilmore family. However, I really hope they address Edward Hermann's death. I don't want Richard to be off on business. Families experience tragedy and loss. It's sad but I do hope that his death is written into the plot.
I'm excited about this. I hope it doesn't disappoint. I've been waiting for years to find out what ASP had planned for the show's final scene. All we know, I believe, is that it's between Rory and Lorelai. I think ASP also said it's set in the diner.

Today's the last day of the bingeathon. I'll miss it. It's kept me company all week.
Who are everyone's favorite GG characters? How about least favorites?

Favorites: Rory, Jess, Lorelai, Luke and Emily.
Incidentally, of Rory’s three main boyfriends, I think Jess was the best, and was really hoping they’d end up together.
Least: Dean, Logan and Straub (Christopher’s father).

I've only watched the first 7 episodes so far. I like Emily even though I feel like I shouldn't.

Emily is a very complicated person, fluffysmom. There are times I loved her, and times I strongly disliked her. On the whole, I think she tries to do what she thinks is best, but that’s often at odds with what Lorelai thinks. On the whole, however, she ended up being one of my favorite characters!

I consider Emily the third Gilmore Girl. She was always a favorite of mine as well. Kelly Bishop made her into a three dimensional character. There were times her performance broke my heart.
I also loved Luke, Dean, Mrs. Kim, Michel, and Marty.
Didn't much like Christopher, Sookie, Jess, Taylor, Anna, TJ, or Lucie.
The finale is currently on UPTV.

I consider Emily the third Gilmore Girl. Kelly Bishop made her into a three dimensional character. There were times her performance broke my heart. That is so true, Kpatch! Especially in A Year in the Life (which should be out on DVD tomorrow!). She has some of the best scenes in the show! The first time Richard had a heart attack, and the scene where Emily demanded he let her go first...that was powerful. Especially in hindsight, considering what happened with Edward Herrmann.

Monica and I have been watching the series. We are a little over half way through season 5. Tonight we watched Emily and Richard's vow renewal ceremony. I'm looking forward to watching more tomorrow.

Emily and Richard’s vow renewal is one of my favorite episodes! I also really like the flashback episode in season 3 where Lorelai gives birth to Rory! There are just way too many good episodes to count! Hope you and Monica are enjoying the series, fluffysmom!

I love Gilmore Girls, in fact I'm semi addicted to it, but there are things I hated about the show, like how no man was ever good enough for the Gilmore Girls. I was not a Christopher fan, but remember the first episode where he was introduced and Lorelai and Chris had sex on the terrace of her parents' home, then Lorelai acts like it was a horrible event that was all Christopher's fault. Later in the episode he asks her to marry him and she makes fun of him and puts him down with no regard for his feelings. She had high expectations of men, but she didn't give much of herself. Same with Rory. I also hated how Rory reacted nearly every time someone hugged her. She was awkward and surprised by the hug and acted like she was doing the other person a favor by hugging them back. fluffysmom is watching the next to last season now, so I'm being careful not to spoil anything. I'll say more when she's done.
