On Monday Joey and Lilith have a chat. J.J. takes a big step on Tuesday. The girls return home from their honeymoon on Wednesday, and Sydney finds what's in the jewelry box. No show on Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving! As the story comes to a close on Friday, everyone comes together for the annual Horton tree trimming.

Chapter 26

SALEM PLACE
Joey was sitting at a table in Salem Place. He saw Lilith walk by and got up.
JOEY: Lilith!
Lilith stopped and turned around.
LILITH: Hey.
JOEY: Hey, what's up?
LILITH: I'm on my way out of town.
JOEY: Seriously?
LILITH: Yeah. Coming here was a mistake.
Joey looked puzzled.
JOEY: How so?
LILITH: Well, I only came back here to be with Ceri. Now, I'll never get the chance.
JOEY: Oh, gotcha.
LILITH: Yeah. I've got a flight in a little while.
JOEY: Do you have a ride? I could drive you, if you want.
LILITH: Thanks, but I'm okay. I've got a ride.
JOEY: Okay, if you're sure.
LILITH: Well, thanks for everything.
Lilith went to leave, but Joey called to her.
JOEY: Wait.
Lilith turned back.
LILITH: What?
JOEY: So, that's it? You're just gonna walk away?
LILITH: What else were you expecting?
JOEY: I don't know. But, I thought we had something going on here.
LILITH: What would make you think that?
JOEY: You. You've been all over me for the last week or two. Or, was that just a rebound thing because you finally realized you can't have Ceri?
LILITH: No, it wasn't like that. I just...I wanted to see if there was something there. There wasn't.
JOEY: Well, there was to me. And, that's really sucky to do something like that.
LILITH: Look, I'm sorry for leading you on, love.
JOEY: Whatever.
Joey turned around and went over to the table.
LILITH: Joey...for what it's worth, I really am sorry.
Lilith left. A little while later, J.J. came by.
J.J.: Hey, man. How's it goin'?
JOEY: Not great.
J.J.: Why, what's up?
JOEY: Well, Lilith just left.
J.J.: Oh, gotcha. You really liked her, huh?
JOEY: Yep.
J.J.: I'm sorry, dude.
JOEY: Hey, you know, it just wasn't meant to be. Anyway, you don't wanna hear my problems. How are you?
J.J.: Not bad. So, I was wondering if you could help me with something?
JOEY: Depends on what it is.
J.J.: You know what we did for Ceri and Sydney's wedding?
Joey nodded.
J.J.: How would you like to do that more regularly?
JOEY: What? You mean, form a band with you?
J.J.: Me and, when we need a piano, Rhiannon. We talked about it, and she's cool with it. Plus, it would be a good way to make money between semesters at college, if we get some good gigs.
JOEY: Sure, why not?
J.J.: Awesome!
J.J. and Joey high-fived.
J.J.: But, that's not the only reason I need your help. But, maybe now's not the best time since Lilith's just left.
JOEY: Look, whatever it is, I'll be happy for the distraction. What have you got in mind?

This was a great story. You know, I'm surprised that Lilith hasn't done anything more than she would have because I would've expected her to do more to interfere with Sydney and Ceri's relationship.

Aww I feel bad for Joey. Very excited about the band. And can't wait to see what else JJ is thinking... Is he going to.propose to Rhiannon maybe?

Chapter 27

HORTON HOME
J.J. and Joey were in the garage of the Horton home. Rhiannon knocked on the siding and came in.
RHIANNON: Hey. Got your test.
J.J.: I'm glad.
J.J. walked over and gave Rhiannon a big hug and kiss.
RHIANNON: What's going on?
J.J.: Oh, I just wanted to see you. I've been working on learning a new song.
RHIANNON: Which one?
J.J.: That one by Savage Garden that you really like.
RHIANNON: Again, which one?
Joey sat down at his drums, and J.J. picked up his guitar.
J.J.: This one.

The two slowly came to a stop. J.J. put down his guitar as Rhiannon ran to him and gave him a hug.
RHIANNON: That was beautiful!
J.J.: It's also true. Like I said a couple weeks ago, Rhiannon, I don't know what I would do without you. I don't think I could live without you.
RHIANNON: You'll never have to worry about that. I'm not going anywhere.
J.J.: I'm glad to hear you say that.
J.J. put a hand in his pocket.
J.J.: Because, that makes what I have to say next a lot better. I love you, Rhiannon. I always have.
RHIANNON: I love you, too.
J.J.: And, I never want to spend another moment away from you. No matter what happens, I want to be by your side. Forever. I guess what I'm trying to say is...
J.J. got down on one knee, took a small box out of his pocket, opened it and took Rhiannon by the hand. Rhiannon put her free hand over her mouth. Joey smiled.
J.J.: Rhiannon Eluned Alamain, will you marry me?
Rhiannon put her hand down from her mouth.
RHIANNON: Yes. Yes, I'll marry you!
J.J. put the ring on Rhiannon's finger. Then, he got up and they kissed. Joey clapped.

Aw. I got chills. Seriously. Love it.

Chapter 28

PENTHOUSE
There was a knock at the door. John got up and opened it.
JOHN: Well, well, look who's back in town.
Sydney wrapped her arms around John.
SYDNEY: Hi, grandpa.
JOHN: Welcome back, kid!
SYDNEY: Thanks!
Ceri walked in and also received a hug from John.
JOHN: Welcome back, Ceri.
CERI: Thanks, John.
JOHN: So, tell me, how was the trip?
SYDNEY: It was beautiful!
CERI: It was amazing!
SYDNEY: We spent the week in Wales.
CERI: I showed Sydney where Rhiannon and I grew up.
SYDNEY: It was so cool!
JOHN: That's excellent! I'm glad you two had a good time!
CERI: Thanks.
SYDNEY: How are things around here?
JOHN: Oh, same as always. Nothing really going on. Which can be a good thing.
Ceri nodded.
SYDNEY: I'll be back in a few minutes. I think there's something upstairs that I need to look at.
Sydney walked upstairs and into the room she sleeps in when she stays at the Penthouse. She looked around the room until she found the jewelry box sitting on the dresser. She opened it up, and looked at all of the jewels that were in it. In one corner was a small box. The box that Marlena's ghost had told her about. She picked up the box, and examined it. After a moment, she opened it. Inside was a locket. She picked up the locket and set down the box. The locket was gold and had an “S” engraved on it. She opened up the locket. One one side was a picture of herself and Ceri. On the other, a picture of her and Marlena. Tears began to well up in Sydney's eyes.
SYDNEY: Thank you, grandma.
Sydney sat down on the bed, gazing at the locket. A few minutes passed. Ceri came upstairs.
CERI: Hey, you okay?
Sydney looked up, got off the bed, and hugged Ceri.
CERI: Hey. Hey, what's wrong?
Sydney shook her head.
SYDNEY: Nothing.
CERI: How come you're crying, then?
SYDNEY: I...I'm not crying because I'm sad. I'm crying because of this present that I found.
Sydney handed the locket to Ceri. She looked it over.
CERI: This is beautiful.
SYDNEY: I know.
CERI: Did John give you this?
Sydney shook her head.
SYDNEY: Grandma did. You know how I see her sometimes?
CERI: Yeah, of course.
SYDNEY: At the wedding, she told me that she bought this for us. I guess she knew, even after we'd only been together a few months, that we'd be together forever.
CERI: She was one perceptive lady.
SYDNEY: Will you put it on me?
CERI: Of course I will.
Ceri brushed back some of Sydney's hair and put the locket on her.
SYDNEY: Thanks. Now, I'll always have something with me to remind me of my two favorite women in the world.
Sydney took Ceri by the hand, and the two kissed.
