Dr Richards has her sassy pants on for this appointment, I think.

Looks to me like Dr. Richards' idea worked, even if Philip doesn't think so at the moment. Great chapter, Kpatch!

Hahaha! Too funny how they walked in ready to fire her and yet here they are having a session with her. Hopefully they will both realize what kind of progress can be made when you actually COMMUNICATE with another person instead of bottling it up.

I think this conversation is going differently than what Philip and Chloe expected.

Love the way this conversation is going! I may be in the minority but I hope they stick with Dr. Richards.

Chapter 65c
Dr. Richards turned her gaze toward Chloe, but continued to address Philip. “You obviously told Chloe about that kiss.”
“I did. Immediately.” Philip looked over at Chloe as well. “I wanted her to hear it from me.”
“And how did you react, Chloe?”
Now it was Chloe’s turn to weigh in. She decided it would be better to mirror the doctor’s calm demeanor rather than Philip’s angry one. She looked up and was about to tuck a hair behind her ear out of habit, but she knew the doctor would read that as insecurity so she refrained. She had no insecurity or hesitation about her response. “Well, I wasn’t thrilled about it, especially at first, but I heard about it directly from Philip, which was a very good thing.”
“Direct communication,” the doctor agreed. “Just as I’ve been recommending.”
“Right. And when Philip explained the circumstances, I understood.” She gave Philip a quick little smile, sensing he needed her reassurance. Then she remembered what she told him. “Oh. And I guess you could say I had a breakthrough.”
“A breakthrough? Can you explain what you mean?”
“Ya. I mean, I can’t believe it, but I wasn’t jealous. I really wasn’t. Angry, sure. But I … well….” Chloe looked at Philip while relating the story to Dr. Richards. “… when Philip asked me if I believe that the kiss was meaningless, I told him yes. I told Philip that I trust him.”
For the first time all session, the doctor showed some emotion. She looked happy. “Chloe! That’s wonderful. So … I guess that’s why you feel you don’t need to come anymore. Because you’ve worked everything out. Philip, that discontent that I’d been sensing was clearly a misread on my part. You are now convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that Chloe is the right woman for you. And as for Chloe, you’ve made amazing progress working through your trust issues. No wonder you want to dismiss me.”
Philip blinked a few times and turned to look at Chloe. She looked as confused as he was. He looked back at the doctor and squinted. “Wait. Are you saying this was … a set up??”

I thought so!
This must have been what Dr. Richards meant all that time ago when she said to herself that she would need to use the Ferguson technique.

Hahaha!! I knew it!
I hope she makes them realize tho that aren't magically healed at this point and that they need to have at least a couple more sessions.

I don't like it cuz I don't like sneaky Nor do I trust it Still hoping she gets sacked I thought Chloe and Philip were making great progress before that little stunt and it was unnecessary If Philip wasn't comfortable talking to her maybe this is what he sensed all along

Chapter 65d
“Philip, that discontent that I’d been sensing was clearly a misread on my part,” Dr Richards said matter-of-factly. “You are now convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that Chloe is the right woman for you. And as for Chloe, you’ve made amazing progress working through your trust issues. No wonder you want to dismiss me.”
Philip blinked a few times and turned to look at Chloe. She looked as confused as he was. He looked back at the doctor and squinted. “Wait. Are you saying this was a … set up?”
“Oh my. No. ‘Set up’ sounds rather underhanded.” There was a mischievous little twinkle in Mary’s eye when she spoke. “I would be more inclined to call it a bit of an unorthodox therapy technique. One designed to cut through the remaining emotional barriers.”
Philip slapped the desk with his palm. “I don’t believe it! But … How in hell did you know I’d kiss another woman?”
“Well I didn’t. However, this technique typically leads to some sort of dramatic outcome.”
“I don’t like being manipulated,” Philip said angrily.
“But it worked,” the doctor stated proudly. “The two of you had been going around in circles for weeks and ending up back where you started. One step forward, two steps backward. One session it seemed like you were doing great, then the next one, you'd be back to your default insecurities and worries. I needed to see more progress by this point.” She looked back and forth between Philip and Chloe’s perplexed expressions. “Philip, it was clear that you weren’t planning on coming to see me forever. You were marking time and I could see you were out of patience with therapy and I’d be damned if I let you walk out of here the same way you came in.” She paused to read the room. “Look, guys, I wouldn’t have tried this three months ago, but I felt you’re both strong enough to handle it, even if you yourselves didn’t know it. So I pushed the envelope. And see?” She opened her arms. “No harm no foul. The end justifies the means. Wouldn’t you agree,” she said, but it was more of a statement than a question.
