"It sounds like a soap opera name."

Well, Grant seems like a creeper, and someone who doesn't take no for an answer. I'm glad Chloe stood up for herself.

Grant didn't want to take no for an answer. I like his soap opera name.

Chloe handled that well, especially since she couldn't catch Philip's eye to get him to come rescue her.

Chapter 17c
Chloe placed her order and handed the cashier her frequent customer card and a five dollar bill.
Grant quickly said, “Let me get that.”
“No,” she said firmly, blocking his hand from scanning his ApplePay information. “Thank you, but no.” Chloe turned to the cashier, took her change, and left the restaurant.
Grant and his coworker ordered their coffee and sat down at a table, coincidentally the table right next to Philip’s.
“Did you see that girl, Chuck?” Grant asked his friend.
“Yup, hot stuff.”
Philip shifted in his seat and briefly looked up from his laptop to glance at the men sitting a table away, annoyed that it was getting loud here in his makeshift refuge. Don’t they know there are people trying to work here?
“Beyond! I’ve never seen a woman that beautiful.”
“Or that stacked,” Chuck interjected.
“Oh man. I think I’m in love.”
“Nah. You’re just horny,” Chuck disagreed, nudging his colleague with his elbow. “When was the last time you had a date?”
“Shut up,” Grant said. “I go out plenty. And I’m going to get that girl to go out with me.”
“How do you know she isn’t married,” Chuck asked.
“How do you think? No ring,” Grant said, holding up his hand. “She wasn’t wearing a ring. And if she was involved with someone, she’d have said so.”
“Maybe. Or maybe she didn’t get the chance during your ten-second one-way conversation,” Chuck noted sarcastically.
“Damn,” Grant said, slapping his forehead with his palm. “She never told me her name. Suppose I never see her again?”
“I know her name,” Chuck said almost teasingly, calmly taking a sip of his coffee.
“What??” Grant’s eyes went wide. “How do you know her name?”
“I also know where she works,” Chuck sighed.
Grant grabbed his friend’s arm. “Tell me!”
Chuck smiled slyly. “What’s it worth to you?”

Argh. While I'm not opposed to Philip experiencing a touch of the green-eyed monster, he needs to maintain calm here...and not punch Grant or jump into something Dr Richards wouldn't approve. (But I wouldn't be disappointed for Chloe to get some new bling out of this....maybe emeralds??)

I sure hope Philip is able to keep his cool. Though, with these two around, it would be understandable if he didn't.

Ugh those guys were gross. Philip had better not think Chloe encouraged the attention. They have enough problems.

I wonder if Philip is paying enough attention to realize they are talking about Chloe. This could get very interesting or very ugly.

I'm sure Chloe has experience in shutting down guys like these two.

Chapter 17d
“Damn,” Grant said, hitting the side of his head with his palm.
Philip grumbled and rolled his eyes. Then he patted his shirt pocket, suddenly remembering that he’d brought his earbuds with him. He took them out of his shirt pocket, then reached into his pants pocket and took out his iPhone. He connected the buds to his phone, placed them in his ears, and clicked the white noise app. Ahhhh. Peace and quiet.
“Alright alright,” Chuck laughed. “Her name is Chloe and she works for Titan Media.”
Grant appeared to be impressed, but skeptical. Squinting at Chuck, he asked, “How the hell do you know all that?”
“Easy. She was wearing a security I.D. badge around her neck.”
Grant’s jaw dropped and he quickly rose from his chair.
“Where are you going,” Chuck asked.
Walking away, Grant said, “To the lobby to check the building directory and find out what floor Titan is on.”

Noooo. Of all the times to put in your earbuds Philip! And Grant... Can we say stalker? Geez. Hope we don't have a reverse of the original problem with Philip thinking Chloe was with this idiot when she wasn't. Great chapter Kpatch! I'm in suspense here waiting to see what happens next.
