Good thinking Phillip. If they did have sex and things still didn't work out they would always wonder if having sex before the imposed time limit was up was the cause!

I like that Chloe is having a hard time with this. She's the one who needs it the most. She thinks she can just go straight back to how things were between them and having sex with Philip is only going to convince her that the work is all done.

Chapter 16a
They arrived at the condo and boarded the elevator. Philip pressed “19” then slyly smiled and pulled Chloe into his arms. She laughed lightly and clasped her hands behind his neck. Turns out Chloe wasn’t the only one who was thrilled to have this chance to start over.
Now that they were alone for the first time all evening, Philip was going to show her how he felt. “I’ve been dying to do this all night,” he told her, immediately capturing her lips and kissing her all the way up to the 19th floor.
When the elevator doors opened, Chloe looked at Philip. “Want to take another ride,” she asked seductively.
Philip stepped back and led her out of the elevator. They walked slowly down the corridor with their arms draped around each other’s backs until they reached the door to the apartment. Chloe faced Philip. “You know,” she said sliding her palms under Philip’s leather jacket and over his shirt, “our date doesn’t have to end here. Why don’t you come in for a while.”
That comment jolted Philip back to reality. Was she kidding? Sometimes she totally bewildered Philip.
His mind quickly ran through several responses, and he dismissed them all. Honesty. They were supposed to be open and honest with each other. Philip took Chloe’s hands off his chest and he held them tight. She looked a little frightened, waiting for him to respond, so he made an effort to speak calmly. “Chloe, we just finished talking about this. And we agreed. Sweetheart, why are you making this so hard?”
“I’m not. I mean, I don’t mean to make this harder,” she said, pulling her hands out of his. “I know I promised to be less aggressive about this but … ugh.” She turned away from him and leaned her forehead against the door until he placed his hands on her shoulders, gently turning her back toward him.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he said soothingly. “Talk to me, sweetheart.”

I'm glad Philip is taking Dr Richards' plan seriously. Chloe is determined to rush into things and mess them up again and he is not letting her.

I'm sure it's challenging to be kept at arm's length when you are craving physical intimacy. It's probably more so when you have previously been in a serious relationship with them.

Chapter 16b
“I know I promised to be less aggressive about this but … ugh.” She turned away from him and leaned her forehead against the door until he placed his hands on her shoulders, gently turning her back toward him.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he said soothingly. “Talk to me, sweetheart.”
She looked into his eyes and nodded. “Like I said, I missed you, Philip. All of you. And there was a time when I didn’t think we’d ever be together again. And I mean it when I say I feel so grateful that you’re giving us another chance. But, to be honest, I get scared that this won’t last, so I … I don’t know. I guess I’m not really making sense.”
“No, you are,” he smiled, letting his hands drop to his sides. “You’re actually making a lot of sense and it’s good that we’re communicating like this, like Dr. Richards said. I want you to be able to tell me how you feel.”
Chloe squeezed her eyes shut. “In that case, I can tell you that I feel like I’m gonna screw up again. I feel like it’s just a matter of time before I lose you.”
“Why?”
She opened her eyes to look at him. “I don’t know. I guess it’s because nothing good ever seems to last.”
“I understand how you feel, sweetheart,” he said, reclaiming her hands. “I feel that way too sometimes. Actually, most of the time. That’s been our history since we were teenagers, both together, and with other people. So … let’s not let that happen this time.”
“You make it sound so easy. But how?”
“First of all, let’s take some pressure off.” He smiled and took her face in his hands. “I’m not going anywhere, okay? You’re not gonna lose me. You haven’t lost me yet, right?”
Casting her eyes downward, she said, “Not for lack of doing some really stupid things.”
“No arguments there. Hey, look at me, Chloe. We’re taking this slow, remember? I want this to work out just as much as you do, maybe even more. We have so much at stake, not the least of which is the fact that I love you.”
“I love you too, Philip,” she said, almost sadly.
He leaned in and kissed her lips slowly and sensually. It was so hard to keep his head when he was kissing her. He could lose himself in an instant and she probably wouldn’t resist. When his hand slid from her shoulder to her chest, he abruptly pulled away and took a step back, relinquishing all contact. “Okay then. I’d better go.” He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’ll see you tomorrow at the office. Good night.”

Ok....feels like we're making some progress here, but I think a visit to Dr Richards is in order. Kpatch....will you be so kind as to give us some previews over the holiday weekend? |

I'm glad they are communicating honestly. Chloe wants to have sex because she's afraid they'll break up again... but she needs to learn to stop doing things out of fear! I hope they see Dr. Richards again soon.
Previews please... gotta know SOMETHING about what's happening next.
