I enjoyed the father and son talk. I liked Parker asking if Nancy loves Philip.

Chapter 12a


After leaving Parker's room, Philip walked into the living room, hands in his pocket. “Hmmm. … Chloe?” He wondered where she went. He turned around and looked toward the hallway. There was a light on in the master bedroom. So he walked back down the hall and knocked on the door which was halfway open. “Chloe? You in here?”

“Come on in,” she said from inside.

When he opened the door the rest of the way, he saw Chloe folding some clothing and putting them into a drawer. She had changed from her work clothes into a heather blue scoop-neck t-shirt and workout shorts. Her hair was pinned up in a careless bun. Damn she looked hot. Looking up at Philip, she smiled and her eyes lit up the room. “How did your talk with Parker go?”

“It went fine, but he needs to work out his anger issues.”

“I know.”

“When is his next appointment with Mary?”

Chloe picked up her phone and accessed her planner. “Day after tomorrow.” Heading toward the bed, she asked, “Is he sleeping?”

Philip ran his hand through his hair and looked away. The sight of her voluptuous body was making it difficult for him to think. “He’s working on it.” With a half-smile, he said, “He’s not a big fan of your mother, you know.”

Laughing, Chloe replied, “Is anybody?”

“Well, your father.”

“Craig is a saint,” Chloe said, plopping onto the bed near the headboard and crossing her legs, Indian style. She patted the mattress to invite Philip to sit next to her.

He hesitantly walked over and sat against the headboard on his side of the bed, resting one leg on the mattress and keeping the other one firmly on the floor. “Chloe …”

“Philip. … Oh. Sorry, you go first.”

“You know, we talked about everything on the drive back from the doctor’s office, except ….”

“I know, but,” Chloe interrupted. “I don’t agree with her suggestion, do you? I mean … no sex?? Isn’t that a little extreme?”

Philip took a deep breath and nodded.

“Good,” Chloe immediately commented. “Then we’re on the same page.”

How did I know that something like this was going to happen? ...sigh... There was a reason for that suggestion...

But....but....she must've had a REASON for telling you that, guys! Shouldn't you give this a little more time since you've just now started repairing your relationship? Sigh.

As much as I love Philip and Chloe wanting a reunion, they really should listen to Dr. Richards. There's a reason she said no sex. They can live without it.

I am hoping that one of them hears Dr. Richards voice in their head and Philip goes to his own bed in his home. They don't need to mess this up by sleeping together too early!

Chapter 12b


“I don’t agree with her suggestion, do you?” Chloe asked. “I mean … no sex?? Isn’t that a little extreme?”

Philip took a deep breath and nodded.

“Good,” Chloe immediately commented. “Then we’re on the same page.”

She leaned closer and ran her hand down Philip’s arm, but before she could kiss him, he took her hand from his arm and held it.

“Chloe, I …. Honestly? I don’t know whether Dr. Richards’ advice is good or bad or right or wrong. But I do know this. We’re paying her a lot of money because she’s supposed to know about this stuff. She’s tops in the field. Hell, we’re trusting her with our son’s mental health so that must mean we believe she knows what she’s doing, right?”

Chloe reluctantly nodded, so Philip continued. “She supposedly knows more than we do about making a relationship work, Chloe, because up to now, neither one of us has been successful at it.”

“So … what are you saying?”

“I’m saying we should at least give it a try,” Philip said flatly.

Annoyed, Chloe pulled her hand away and looked downward. “That’s not what I expected you to say,” she mumbled.

“Hey,” he said, touching her chin so she looked up at him. “Don’t think that means I don’t want you, sweetheart. This has nothing to do with the way I feel about you. In fact, a little encouragement from you, and I’d throw the doctor’s prescription right out that window.” When Chloe’s sad face transformed into a smile, he felt his resolve melting a little. “Uh. But … that’s probably not the best idea for us, sweetheart. We said we want to try and make this work, right?”

“Of course, Philip. I want to do more than just try. I want to succeed this time.”

“Okay, good,” he smiled back at her. “Then we are on the same page. So, I’m gonna just get …. um ….” Philip pointed toward the door to indicate his intent to leave, but his eyes locked with Chloe’s, and he lost his train of thought.

“You’re gonna just get what,” she asked, looking from his eyes to his lips and back again.

“I’m … not sure. I can’t remember what I was going to say,” he mumbled an instant before he leaned over and captured her lips.

Ok, Kpatch, are you going to leave us hanging like that over the weekend? Or can we persuade you to some previews?

Those two are hopeless. This pattern doesn't work. Hopefully they'll stop themselves. I can't believe I want them to NOT have sex, lol! But the payoff will be worth it in the end.

I was all ready to be proud of Philip and then he gave in and kissed Chloe.

What a cliffhanger! What a week! Previews are necessary for MY mental health
