Chapter 12

SALEM HIGH
It was the end of another school day. Sydney and Ceri were getting their things from their lockers.
SYDNEY: It's less than two weeks, now.
CERI: I know. I can't believe it. It seems like just yesterday Rhiannon and I moved here and started going to this place.
SYDNEY: It feels strange for me, too.
Then, Rex's voice came over the P.A.
REX (V.O.): Sydney DiMera, please come to the principal's office. Sydney DiMera, please come to the principal's office.
SYDNEY: Wonder what that's all about.
CERI: No idea.
Sydney and Ceri put the last of their books into their bags, closed their lockers, and walked down the hall to the principal's office.

APARTMENT
Topher was pacing around the apartment. Kristen was sitting on the couch.
KRISTEN: Would you stop pacing, please?
Topher stopped in front of Kristen.
TOPHER: This is the first major plan I've ever conceived and you expect me not to be nervous?!
KRISTEN: Look, everything will go fine.
TOPHER: Where is he, then? He was supposed to be here an hour ago?
Drew walked in from another room.
DREW: Just got a text. He got held up because of flight delays. He says he'll be here soon.
TOPHER: Good. Then, we can get to work.

WLL & SONNY'S HOUSE
Will was making cutting up some vegetables, Sonny was reading the paper.
WILL: We got the invitation in the mail today.
SONNY: Well, that's good. Party's at the Brady Pub, I'm guessing, right?
WILL: Yep.
SONNY: Good. That's something to look forward to.
There was a knock at the door.
WILL: I'll get it.
Will wiped his hands on a towel and then answered the door.
WILL: What are you doing here?

SAMI & LUCAS' HOUSE
SAMI: What time did they say they'd be home?
LUCAS: 3 o'clock. But, don't worry, Sami. They probably just got held up in traffic, or something. Besides, it's only 3: 05.
SAMI: I know. I just worry about her, that's all.
LUCAS: Look, Sydney is a great driver. And she's with Ceri. They always look out for each other.
SAMI: I know. I know.
Then, there was a knock on the door.
SAMI: I got it.
Sami walked over to the door and opened it.
SAMI: What are you doing here?

SALEM HIGH
Max was doing some paperwork in his office. His secretary walked in.
SECRETARY: Principal Brady?
Max looked up.
MAX: Yes?
SECRETARY: Sydney DiMera is here to see you, sir.
MAX: Excellent. Send her in.
A minute later, Sydney walked in. Max put his paperwork to one side.
MAX: Sydney, good to see you.
SYDNEY: Thanks Ma...I mean, Principal Brady. You, too.
MAX: Please, take a seat.
Sydney shut the door behind her and sat down across the desk from Max.
MAX: So, how are you?
SYDNEY: I'm good.
MAX: Good. That's good.
SYDNEY: How are you?
MAX: Oh, I”m fine. I can imagine, though, that you're wondering why I've called you here.
SYDNEY: A little, yeah.
MAX: Well, it's good news. Sydney, you've been elected class valedictorian.

I have so many questions!
Who is Drew expecting?
What is Topher's plan?
Who's at Will and Sonny's door?
Who's at Sami and Lucas's door?

I'm glad that you and Kpatch are enjoying this story, heroicmuse! I can tell you that the person that Drew, Kristen, and Topher are waiting for is one of the people on the other side of the door at either Will and Sonny's or Sami and Lucas'. You'll find out both of the answers to who's at the door tomorrow.

Chapter 13

SAMI AND LUCAS' HOUSE
Sami opened the door.
SAMI: What are you doing here...so soon?
Sami wrapped her arms around her older daughter, Allie.
ALLIE: Hi, mom.
SAMI: Hi! It's so good to see you!
ALLIE: It's good to see you, too!
SAMI: Your dad told me you wouldn't be back until the week of graduation.
ALLIE: I didn't think I was. But, then, a few of my professors gave us final papers, instead of tests, so I finished early.
SAMI: That's great! Come on in!
Lucas got up and hugged Allie.
ALLIE: Hey, dad!
LUCAS: Hey, sweetie. How are you?
ALLIE: I'm good. How are you?
LUCAS: We're good. How was the drive?
ALLIE: Good. It's still early, so there wasn't much traffic.
LUCAS: That's good.
ALLIE: So, where's Sydney?
SAMI: Still at school. She and Ceri must have stayed late for something. You hungry?
ALLIE: In a little while. I got a sandwich on the way out here.
SAMI: Well, when Sydney gets home, I'll call Will and we'll all have dinner together.
ALLIE: Sounds great!

SALEM HIGH
Sydney blinked.
SYDNEY: I...what?
MAX: You've been elected as class valedictorian. Congratulations.
SYDNEY: No, I heard what you said, but, what? How is that possible?
MAX: Well, take a look at your grades, Sydney. They've always been excellent, even in your freshmen year when all of that...stuff was going on.
SYDNEY: But, I'm not the smart one in the family. Allie, she's the smart one in the family.
MAX: Allie was valedictorian when she graduated two years ago. And, yes, Sydney, you are smart. Your grades are the best of any student in your graduating class.
SYDNEY: Thanks. Are you sure you're making the right choice?
MAX: I'm very sure.
SYDNEY: Okay. Great.
MAX: I know you've already been measured for your cap and gown, and when it comes in, your stole will come with it.
SYDNEY: Okay. Thanks. So...valedictorians, they have to make a speech, don't they?
MAX: Yep. Just a short one, though. Two to four minutes, tops.
SYDNEY: Oh.
MAX: You've done exceptionally well all four years here, Sydney, especially considering the circumstances of your freshmen and sophomore years.
SYDNEY: Thanks.
Sydney stood and got her backpack.
MAX: Good luck with finals. And, if you need someone to talk to, my door's always open.
SYDNEY: Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow.
MAX: Have a good evening.
Sydney left.

WILL AND SONNY'S HOUSE
Will opened the door.
WILL: What are you doing here?
Without being asked to, Johnny walked in.
JOHNNY: Hello, William, Jackson. It's nice to see you.
WILL: Answer the question, Johnny. What are you doing here?
JOHNNY: Where else would I be a week and a half before my baby sister graduates from high school?
WILL: Well, you should be in England with your grandmother and step-grandfather. Grandpa Roman set up you staying with Susan and Edmund so you couldn't cause anymore trouble.
JOHNNY: And now, that punishment is over. Besides, my dear brother, did you really think I would stay away forever?
Johnny grinned, evilly.

Welcome home Allie! I can't wait for Sami to find out Sydney's good news. I'm a little concerned about Johnny though.

I see Johnny has become his father's son. Wow. I wonder what he's up to, and whether he has anything to do with Topher and Kristen's plan.

Chapter 14

SALEM HIGH
Ceri was waiting for Sydney outside of the principal's office. Sydney walked out.
CERI: Hey.
SYDNEY: Hey.
They hugged.
CERI: How'd it go in there?
SYDNEY: Okay.
There was a long silence as the girls walked down the hallway.
CERI: So, don't keep me in suspense. What did Max say?
SYDNEY: Well...he said I've been elected class valedictorian.
CERI: Are you serious?!
SYDNEY: Yep.
CERI: That's awesome! I'm so proud of you!
Ceri hugged Sydney and gave her a kiss.
SYDNEY: Thanks.
CERI: This is so great!
SYDNEY: Yeah.
Sydney tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
CERI: What? It is great, isn't it?
SYDNEY: I guess. I mean, I'm glad that I got really good grades, and stuff. But...I don't know. I don't really like talking in front of people. Especially not huge groups of people like there's gonna be at graduation.
CERI: So, you're kinda nervous.
SYDNEY: No, not kinda. I'm really nervous.
CERI: Come here.
Ceri wrapped her arms around Sydney.
CERI: You're gonna do fine. I'll help you get ready, if you want.
SYDNEY: That'd be really nice, because I have no idea what I'm doing.
CERI: We'll work it out, together. Just like we always do. It'll be okay, Sydney. No matter what happens, I'm right here. I'll always be here for you.

WILL AND SONNY'S HOUSE
JOHNNY: Did you really think I would stay away forever?
WILL: No, but I was hoping you'd have at least made a bit of a change by the time you came back.
JOHNNY: Oh, come now, William. You should know me better than that.
WILL: I'll ask one more time: why are you here?
JOHNNY: To see my baby sister graduate, of course. Why else? Even though she is a traitor.
WILL:Look, you're here. Okay. Just don't cause any more trouble?
Johnny pretended to look hurt, it wasn't working.
JOHNNY: William! I am shocked that you would say such a thing. To think that I would cause trouble? I'd never.
Johnny smiled. It was the type of smile where Will could tell he was up to no good. Suddenly, Johnny's phone rang.
JOHNNY: I have to take this. Goodbye, William. You'll be seeing more of me very soon.
Johnny walked out.

OUTSIDE
Johnny picked up the phone.
JOHNNY: Hello?
Pause.
JOHNNY: Yes, I'm on my way right now.
Pause.
JOHNNY: Oh, just a minor hold up. Nothing to concern yourself with, auntie.
Pause.
JOHNNY: Yes, I know the place. Will the runt be there, as well?
Pause.
JOHNNY: Whatever. He thinks he's a posh little thing, but he's no less of a snide brat than I was at his age.
Pause.
JOHNNY: Either way, I'll be seeing the three of you soon. Goodbye.
Johnny hung up the phone.

I really wanted Johnny to tell Will "I was hoping YOU would change" too. LOL. I love how Johnny calls Will "William," just like his dad EJ did.

Auntie! Aha. So Johnny is the one that Kristen and Topher and Drew are waiting for!
