Chapter 3
This chapter was meant for Monday morning. But, as I will be busy most, if not all, of Monday, it is being broadcast a day in advance.
THE LOFT
Shortly before Belle had left town, Shawn-D had bought the old loft that he and Belle had lived in when they were in college. He would stay there while Belle stayed with Bo and Hope. Even though Belle had left town, Shawn-D was still staying in the loft. He had missed that loft after he, Belle, and Claire had gone sailing around the world in the Fancy Face IV. One evening, Shawn-D heard a knock on the door. He opened it, and Jan was standing in front of the door.
JAN: Oh, Shawn. Hi. I thought I heard this loft was for sale and I wanted to look at it.
SHAWN-D: It was about a year ago. But, I bought it after Belle and I started having problems.
JAN: Oh. Well...I have to go.
Jan turned to leave.
SHAWN-D: Jan?
Jan turned back to face Shawn-D.
JAN: Yes?
SHAWN-D: Do you have a place to stay? I mean, I know the house you used to live in got burned down. So, if you want, you can stay here for a few days.
JAN: No thanks. I...I have a room at the Salem Inn.
SHAWN-D: All right. Well, if you need a place to stay at any time in the future, just let me know.
Jan turned to leave. But, she thought about it for a minute, and turned back
JAN: Actually...
SHAWN-D: Yes?
JAN: I guess I could stay for a night or two...if that's all right with you, of course.
SHAWN-D: Yeah, that's fine. There's only one bedroom, but I can sleep on the couch.
JAN: You sure?
SHAWN-D: Of course. You're my guest. I won't allow you to sleep on the couch.
JAN: All right. Thanks. I'll just go and get my stuff, and I'll be back soon.
She was back soon, too. Shawn-D couldn't get the thought out of his head, but something was definitely different about her. He could tell from the way she talked and the way she acted. She wasn't her normal self. Anyhow, Jan returned with her belongings soon, and Shawn-D showed her the bedroom.
SHAWN-D's BEDROOM
SHAWN-D: So, this is where you'll sleep. There's a bathroom in the room next to yours. There should be an extra pillow or two in one of the cabinets in the bathroom. I'll be downstairs on the couch if you need anything.
JAN: Okay. Thanks.
Shawn-D went downstairs. Finally, Jan had a moment to herself. She turned on the radio. Click here to listen to the song that's playing:
Shawn-D was right in thinking that she had changed. As Jan got ready for bed, she thought about the person she used to be, and the person that she was now. Sure, she was still in love with Shawn-D, but she wasn't a psycho stalker anymore. Actually, being around Shawn-D was a little bit weird after everything that had happened between the two of them. It was nice to see him again, though. Soon, Jan drifted off to sleep, with thoughts of Shawn-D running through her head. She woke up a few hours later. It took her a few minutes to realize that what woke her up was a loud clap of thunder. She didn't mind that much, though. Still, there was something weird about this storm. Normally, Jan wasn't scared of thunderstorms. But, this time, she could tell something was different. Something wasn't right. That noise. What was the annoying noise in the background? Then she knew. And now, she was scared. There was only ever one type of storm that Salem got that scared her, and this was it. She knew what it was now. That annoying noise in the background was the noise of a tornado siren.
