Griffith, who has extensive soap credits, including GH, ATWT, OLTL, SANTA BARBARA and HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS, last served as Y&R’s head scribe from 2012-13; Higley is no stranger to Salem, having served as the show’s head writer twice, in 2003, and from 2008-11.

You might want to talk to YR fans during Griffith's time. LOL But I have watched some of the soaps he has written for during his time there...an important one is left off that list... Sunset Beach...but anyway.
I loved Dena and her work on Days...anyone that knows me knows that. (She's the only person that has ever made me pay attention to Hope...EVER...loved Nighttime Hope.) I'm glad they brought her back. The show has needed a woman's touch for awhile now.
I hope this brings good things for Days. New writers at GH made miracles...the show got so good. Fingers crossed the same will happen here...because I thought when Dena came back in 2008 the show was really good...I was like diehard Days fan during her time...and I HAVE NEVER BEEN DIEHARD DAYS. LOL

I guess I am in the minority, but I think this is absolutely DREADFUL news. It makes absolutely no sense to me that they would have Higley return. Really?  IMO, she has a proven track record for disliking certain characters and writing nonsense for them. Not looking forward to this writer switch at all! |

I am worried how BAD the show gets in the next six months to lead DOOL to hiring Higley back?!

I get what you are saying @dukeblue and I have concerns too. I don't want the show to have stars. I want an ensemble. That's when the show has been best throughout the years. The only bright spots of late have been Kristen, Aiden and Paul. Everything else has been so bad that I cautiously hope there's only one way to go and that's up.

It takes away their chance to correct things that aren't working and stop the ship from sinking. I really just can't believe they are still doing this. |

Someone needs to do something worthwhile with Teresa. She's been on the show over a year and viewers still don't know her motivation.

There are several fan bases that are less than thrilled about this latest news. Didn't they fire DH twice already??? Are there no other writers available for daytime?
IMO, this is not good news for the show at all.

They needed to make a change. Many storylines aren't working. It remains to be seen if this will be the right change. If they take over next week their stories won't air until later this summer.
