Chapter 18


The Brady Pub

After Caroline leaves, Shane sits alone in the booth at the pub, deep in thought. After a while, he takes out his cell phone and sends a text message. After he sees the message go through, another text comes in. He texts back, “I’m on my way.”


JJ’s Bedroom
JJ: I need to tell you something. It’s about my father. And my Aunt Kayla.
Paige: Okay.
JJ: You know your grandfather.
Paige: Grampa Gary? Of course I know my own grandfather.
JJ: No. I’m talking about your maternal grandfather.
Paige: Oh. Grandpa Shane. What does he have to do with your father?
JJ: Nothing. This is about my Aunt Kayla.
Paige: Your Aunt Kayla and Grandpa Shane? What about them?
JJ: Yeah. Um. There’s some stuff that everyone wants to forget.
Paige: Pardon?
JJ: Nevermind. Let’s not go there. So … You know your Grandpa Shane was married to Kimberly Brady.
Paige: Of course. Grandma Kimmie.
JJ: Well, did you know that Grandma Kimmie is my Aunt Kayla’s sister?
Paige: Shut up!
JJ: Nnnno. It’s true.
Paige: Oh wow. You know what that means?
JJ: What?
Paige: It means we were destined to be together.
She leans over and kisses JJ.


Jennifer’s Bedroom

Maggie: Okay, that wasn’t the smartest thing my son could have done.
Julie: Is that true? Maggie’s son is chummy with Kristen Dimera? Why didn’t anyone tell me? I’ve got to stop taking these extended cruises. I’m missing all the good gossip.
Melanie: Don’t forget, Jennifer, my dad saved your life.
Jennifer: You said that already.
Melanie: That was my best argument. Um. I’m gonna go downstairs and get something to eat. Anybody want anything?
Maggie: I’ll have a sandwich.
Julie: Could you see if there’s any donuts?
Jennifer: I’m not hungry.

I like Paige's rationale about destiny. I like Julie hoping to find some donuts in the kitchen. I don't think the intervention is working.

Chapter 19


Somewhere in Salem

Teresa is sitting alone on a park bench when she gets a text. She looks at the display and sees it’s from the Salem Personnel Agency. “We’ve found the perfect job for you. Be at 25 Cathedral Lane at 3:00 today. Ask for Lou.”
Teresa: Seriously? On Christmas Day? Maybe I don’t want to go. Or maybe I’m busy. Stupid employment agency. … Then again, I do need a job. Let’s see, it’s noon now. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to find out what the job is about.


JJ’s Bedroom

JJ: . I still need to tell you about my father and Aunt Kayla.
Paige: Oh. Okay.
JJ: Did you know they were married?
Paige: Your father and your Aunt Kayla were married???
JJ: Yyyyes.
Paige: Is there anyone your father wasn’t married to?
JJ: Can I finish my story?
Paige: Sorry.


Downstairs at the Horton House
The doorbell rings. Bo goes to answer it at the same time as Melanie comes down the stairs and Hope enters from the back of the house.

Hope: Bo! What are you doing here?
Bo: Fancy Face!
Melanie: Philip, what are you doing here?
Philip: Oh. Hi Melanie.

The doorbell rings again.
Bo: Just a sec. I’m expecting someone. He opens the door. But you’re not who I was expecting.
Eve: Well well well. If it isn’t Bo Brummel.
Bo: Brady, not Brummel.
Eve: You look as handsome as ever.
Eve touches Bo’s shoulder. Hope rolls her eyes.
Bo: Yeah? Well you look different. Really different.
Surveying the room, she nods at Hope and Melanie.
Eve: Hello Hope. Hello little girl. Then her eyes fall on Philip. And who is this handsome creature?
Melanie rolls her eyes.

I like Eve checking out Philip and Bo.

Clearly Paige is new to Salem if she doesn't realize half the town's been married eleventy bajillion times!

Chapter 20

The Horton House

Eve: And who is this handsome creature?
Melanie rolls her eyes.
Bo: Oh, this is my brother Philip.
She holds her hand out to Philip. He takes her hand and she holds onto his hand.
Eve: Philip Brady? Charmed, I’m sure. Were we ever on the show together before?
Bo: Not Philip Brady. Kiriakis. He’s Victor’s son.
Eve jerks her hand away from Philip.
Eve: Ew. You poor thing.
Bo: I’m Victor’s son too, you know.
Eve: I know, but that’s not your fault. Where’s Jennifer? I need to see her. It’s important.
Melanie: She’s upstairs.
Eve heads for the stairs.
Melanie: Wait a minute. You can’t just go up there without being invited! Jennifer is very very very very very very busy.
Eve: Oh I’ll bet she is. Get out of my way, little girl.
Eve pushes her way past Melanie and heads upstairs.


Somewhere Else in Salem

Teresa stands outside the double doors at the entrance to 25 Cathedral Lane. She checks her cell phone.
Teresa: This can’t be right. It’s St. Luke’s Cathedral. They obviously gave me the wrong address. She looks at her cell phone again. Dammit to hell, they didn’t even tell me the name of the company, just to ask for Lou.
The doors to St. Luke’s open.
Man: Can I help you?
Teresa: Oh, I doubt it. I’m looking for a guy named Lou.
Man: That’s me. I’m Lou.
Teresa: You?
Man: Most people call me Father Louie. And what’s your name?
Teresa: Teresa Donovan.
Man: Teresa! Yes, we’ve been expecting you. Please, come inside.
