Chapter 16 KIRIAKIS MANSION - DINING ROOM It was the next morning. Philip and Brady were having breakfast. Well, really, Philip was having breakfast. Although Brady had food on the plate in front of him, he wasn't concentrating on that. He was looking straight at Philip. PHILIP: You know, the staring's kinda starting to get a little creepy. Brady said nothing, he just continued to stare. KIRIAKIS MANSION - FLASHBACK The previous night, Brady had opened the door to find Philip standing in front of him, very much alive. BRADY: What the hell? PHILIP: Well, that's a nice way to greet me after two and a half years. BRADY: But...I...what? PHILIP: Mind if I come in? Not waiting for an answer, Philip walked in. Brady closed the door behind him. PHILIP: Surprised to see me, Brady? BRADY: Um, surprised doesn't even begin to cover it. What are you doing here? PHILIP: I live here. Or, at least, I used to. BRADY: No, no, that's not what I meant. How are you even here? You died. PHILIP: No, I didn't. BRADY: We had a funeral, we saw the body. PHILIP: We? BRADY: Everybody. Chloe, Parker, everyone. You died. PHILIP: No, I think I'd remember dying. BRADY: Okay, I don't know what is going on here, but this is freaking me out. PHILIP: I didn't actually die. I almost died. André shot me, but he got me in the leg. The fake one, to be precise. I fell backwards and hit my head, knocking me out. Luckily, a very enthusiastic bird watcher had seen the whole thing and nursed me back to health. BRADY: Bird watcher? He didn't happen to say "Greetings!" a lot in a boisterous manner, did he? PHILIP: As a matter of fact, he does. Do you know him? BRADY: I've heard stories. Anyway, how is it then that I saw your dead body? We all did. PHILIP: No idea.KIRIKAIS MANSION - DINING ROOM Philip snapped his fingers in front of Brady's face. PHILIP: Hey, wake up. Brady snapped out of it. BRADY: Sorry, it's just hard adjusting to this again. It's been almost three years since I've seen you. PHILIP: Well, we have a lot of catching up to do. First thing's first, though. Where's my wife? SALEM HIGH - HALLWAY Rhiannon was taking some books out of her locker. She heard someone clear their throat, but was busy making sure she had all the right books. She jumped in surprise when she closed her locker and saw J.J. RHIANNON: J.J.? J.J.: Hey. RHIANNON: What are you doing here? J.J.: I came home from college last night. Got your text this morning. You said we needed to talk.

Chapter 17 KIRIAKIS MANSION Brady sighed. BRADY: I was wondering when we'd get to that. Kinda hoped we wouldn't, actually. PHILIP: What? What do you mean? BRADY: She's dead, Philip. PHILIP: No. No, that can't be. BRADY: I'm sorry. Truly, I am. The night you were shot by André, he shot Melanie, too. Except, with Melanie, he didn't miss. Philip looked down at his plate, confused. PIER - FLASHBACK André shot Philip, who slumped to the ground. He then turned and shot Melanie.KIRIAKIS MANSION PHILIP: That's why I went after him. BRADY: What? Philip looked up. PHILIP: Like I said last night, that hit on the head wiped out my memory. Mr. Greetings was able to help me get some of it back, but not all of it. That's why I didn't even realize... BRADY: I understand. PHILIP: Was the funeral nice? BRADY: Yes. PHILIP: Good. And André? What about him? BRADY: Swiss cheese the last time he was seen. The Salem P.D. and ISA took him out. PHILIP: Good to know. SALEM HIGH - HALLWAY J.J.: So, what's going on? Rhiannon tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. RHIANNON: Um...come with me. The bell rang. Rhiannon led J.J. to a room that wasn't being used. J.J: Don't you have class? RHIANNON: I have study hall right now. No one ever shows up, anyway. Besides, it's finals week, so the schedules are all mixed up. My next class isn't until 11. J.J: Gotcha. So, what's going on? RHIANNON: I've missed you. J.J: I've missed you, too. RHIANNON: I don't like the way we left things. I shouldn't have pushed you away. J.J.: I know, but it's understandable. You were worried about what might happen. RHIANNON: I know, but I feel bad. J.J: Don't. Rhiannon sniffled. J.J.: Hey, it's okay. RHIANNON: I'm sorry. I love you. J.J.: I love you, too. J.J. held out a hand. J.J.: Come here. Rhiannon took J.J.'s hand and walked over to him. J.J. wrapped his arms around her.

Sweet reunion between JJ and Rhiannon.
I want what Philip will do now that he's back. So cool that Mr. Greetings took care of him.

Chapter 18 KIRIAKIS MANSION Brady was fixing his tie. BRADY: You're sure you won't come with me? PHILIP: I will, just not today. Maybe tomorrow. BRADY: I think it might do you good. PHILIP: It will, I'm just not ready yet. BRADY: All right, then. I'll be back around 6. PHILIP: See ya. Brady walked out the door. Philip stood up. PHILIP: Well, it's good to be back in the mansion again. Brady hasn't changed the place too much since I've been gone. SALEM HIGH - CAFETERIA Later that day, Sydney and Ceri were sitting at a table eating lunch. SYDNEY: So, what's the story? CERI: How d'you mean? SYDNEY: This secret that you've been waiting all day to tell me. What is it? Ceri smiled. CERI: You'll see after finals this afternoon. Besides, if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret, would it? A few minutes later, Rhiannon walked in, a big grin on her face. CERI: Hey. RHIANNON: Hey. SYDNEY: What's up? RHIANNON: Not much. Just finished my chem final. CERI: And you're smiling? It must have gone really well. RHIANNON: I'm not smiling because of that. I saw J.J. in the hall this morning. SYDNEY: Really? How did it go? RHIANNON: Great! A lot better than I expected. CERI: So, come on, then. What happened? RHIANNON: We just talked. We realized we both made mistakes at the end of last summer, and we're gonna work on things. SYDNEY: So, are you guys back together? RHIANNON: Not officially. At least, not yet. But, we're talking about it. We're still working things out, but it looks promising! CERI: That's awesome! I'm glad you guys are at least working things out. SYDNEY: Good to hear. RHIANNON: Thanks! Sydney, Ceri, and Rhiannon hugged. KIRIAKIS MANSION Philip sat on a couch, reading the paper. Well, I say reading, he was looking at it with complete boredom etched all over his face. He put the paper down and looked at his watch. PHILIP: Only 1:30? It feels like the day's just dragging by. Philip let out a sigh. PHILIP: What to do? What to do? A half hour later, Philip sat up. PHILIP: Screw it. I'm going. He pushed a button on the table next to him. PHILIP: Henderson? Henderson walked in a moment later. HENDERSON: Yes, sir? PHILIP: Get the car, please. I need to make a trip. HENDERSON: Right away, sir. Philip quickly changed from his tank top and shorts into a sharp purple business suit. He put on his grey suit coat and walked to the door. When he opened it, he was met by none other than... PERCY: Greetings!

Chapter 19 KIRIAKIS MANSION PHILIP: Percy, what are you doing here? PERCY: I came to see how you were getting on. PHILIP: So far so good. Memory's not 100%, but it's getting there. PERCY: Ah, excellent. Glad to see that things are going so well for you. Of course, I am also here to offer my services should they be needed. PHILIP: Good to know. PERCY: So, if I may, where are you off to? PHILIP: My old job. PERCY: Ah, yes. The family business. I'm sure it'll be nice to be back in the old office again. PHILIP: Yeah. Actually, now that I think about it, I may need a new personal assistant. Why don't you come with? PERCY: As you wish, sir. Philip and Percy went out the door. SALEM HIGH - CAFETERIA Sydney looked at her watch. SYDNEY: Well, it's judgement time. CERI: Trig final? SYDNEY: Yep. The two stood up and hugged. CERI: You'll do fine. You've got this. SYDNEY: I hope so. CERI: I know so. Here. Ceri kissed Sydney. CERI: For good luck. SYDNEY: Think I could have another one of those? Ceri pulled Sydney into a more passionate kiss. CERI: I'll meet you in the auditorium after you're done. SYDNEY: Sounds good. Sydney walked away to take her last final exam of the semester. TITAN - BRADY'S OFFICE Brady was sitting at his desk, looking over some paperwork. There was a knock on the door. BRADY: Enter. Chrissy, Brady's secretary, walked in. CHRISSY: Mr. Black? BRADY: Yes, Chrissy? CHRISSY: You have an, um...well, you'll just have to come down to the lobby and see it. I can't believe it, myself. BRADY: Believe what? Chrissy led Brady down to the lobby, where Philip stood with a crowd of reporters, a pair of sunglasses on his face. REPORTER 1: Mr. Kiriakis, what is your comment on your extended absence? PHILIP: I've been away for a while. But, I'm back and better than ever. REPORTER 2: Is it true that you died and came back to life? PHILIP: What can I say? Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. REPORTER 3: Have you anything to say about your return? Philip took off his sunglasses. PHILIP: Philip Kiriakis is back at Titan, baby! He put his arms up in the Richard Nixon double peace sign pose.

Chapter 20 SALEM HIGH - PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE Max sat in his chair. He cleared his throat and then turned on the microphone. MAX: Well, everybody, this is it. The end of your last day of classes for the year. For some of you, your last day of classes at this school. It's been a good year. We've had some good times. We've also had some very trying times. But, no matter what happened, we stuck through it. Thank you for making this year the best it could possibly be. For the graduating class of 2029, I'll see you tomorrow. Everyone else, have a good summer. We'll see you back here in September. This is Principal Max Brady signing off. Rex walked in. REX: Nice speech. MAX: Thanks. How'd the meeting go? REX: Great. She's dropping the whole thing. MAX: You got McMullin's mother to drop it? Rex, you're a lifesaver! REX: Thanks. MAX: No, thank you. I owe you one. REX: Are you kidding? You got me this amazing job. Sorting out problems with parents is the least I can do to thank you. MAX: Well, it's been a good year. Crazy. But, good. Max stood up. The two shook hands. AUDITORIUM Sydney walked into the auditorium. Ceri was sitting on the stage, waiting for her. CERI: Hey. SYDNEY: Hey. CERI: How'd it go? Sydney shrugged. SYDNEY: I don't know. Sydney sat down next to Ceri, who put an arm around her. CERI: I'm sure you did great. Sydney smiled. SYDNEY: Thanks. Ceri kissed Sydney on the cheek. SYDNEY: So, what's going on? You said something about meeting me here after finals. CERI: Well, this is where we got engaged, so I figured I'd give it to you here. SYDNEY: Give me what? Ceri went into her pocket and pulled out a little box. CERI: You let me pick out my ring. But, while you were in the bathroom, I got you a little something. Sydney opened the box and smiled. SYDNEY: No way! Is this...? CERI: Yeah, it is. Inside the box was a silver ring with three purple stones in the middle. SYDNEY: I love it! CERI: I know. I've seen you admire it a million times. Plus, I know amethyst is your favorite gem. SYDNEY: It's beautiful. CERI: Well, you bought me my favorite ring, I just wanted you to have your favorite ring, too. A tear of joy rolled down Sydney's cheek. SYDNEY: I love you so much. CERI: I love you. The two kissed. TITAN Brady walked over to Philip. BRADY: Philip. PHILIP: Hey, Brady! What's up, man? BRADY: Just...working. Um, not that I'm not pleased to see you, I mean, I did invite you to come when you're ready; but what are you doing here? PHILIP: I'm taking back what's rightfully mine.

Chapter 21 PARK Rhiannon and J.J. were walking through the park. RHIANNON: So, after that, I took them to dinner for their two year anniversary. Then, we studied for finals, and well, you know the rest form there. J.J.: Sounds like an eventful two years. Rhiannon nodded. RHIANNON: I missed you a lot, though. J.J.: I missed you, too. I'm glad we're working things out. RHIANNON: Me too. The two stopped walking, and stared into each other's eyes. J.J.: Wow. RHIANNON: What? J.J.: It's just, I'd forgotten how pretty your eyes are. Rhiannon blushed. RHIANNON: Thanks. You have nice eyes, too. Slowly, J.J. lifted a hand and ran it through Rhiannon's hair. She always loved it when he did this. It was soothing. Then, slowly, J.J. leaned in and they kissed. BRADY: Rightfully yours?! What...do you mind if I just have a word with you for a moment? PHILIP: Sure thing. He turned to the press. PHILIP: That's all the statements I have for today. If you wish to know anymore, please contact my assistant, Mr. Percy Ruggles. Here's his card. Philip handed some business cards to the reporters, then turned away and walked with Brady. BRADY: What are you doing? PHILIP: I told you, I'm taking back what's mine. BRADY: But, this isn't yours. Not anymore. PHILIP: Yes, it is. Dad left the entire family business to me in his will. BRADY: And you left the entire business to me in your will. PHILIP: Which is null and void at the moment, as I am not dead. BRADY: Technically, it's still in effect. Though you aren't actually dead, you are still legally dead. There is still a death certificate out there with your name on it. PHILIP: Is that a threat? BRADY: No, it's a fact. PHILIP: Well, it's also a fact that my assistant is currently working on getting that death certificate voided. BRADY: Since when did Mr. Greetings become a lawyer. PHILIP: He's a man of many trades. BRADY: Look, it's good to have you back, but I don't think you're ready. Not to come back full time. PHILIP: Not ready? Brady, I was going crazy this morning. I have to come back. BRADY: You can, part time. PHILIP: Full time. BRADY: No, part time. Until the death certificate is voided, I'm still in charge of Titan. I'm your boss. Philip laughs. BRADY: Is something funny? PHILIP: It's just the thought of you being my boss. It's hilarious. BRADY: Look, we can make this easy. I'll have you be my assistant until everything's fixed up. I'll catch you up to speed on everything. PHILIP: As...assistant?! No! No, I am no one's assistant! I am in charge of Titan Industries, and believe me, I will regain control of my company, whether you like it or not!
