By the time Jack put the chessboard away Robbie was asleep on the couch. He covered him with a blanket and watched him sleep for a long time. They had a good talk Jack thought, they had bonded, both wanting a relationship, he felt that they were now on the way to it. Jack climbed back into bed and Sara rolled over , covering him with her arm and leg. Jack smiled and brought his arm around her shoulder. " Mmmm..I smell chicken. " She whispered making Jack laugh silently. "Shh..your dreaming. " Sara eyes closed , chuckled. " It's always a dream being in your arms." Jack sighed My thoughts exactly." kissing her on the head.

Jack answered the door at 9:00 am. It was Dean and Angela. " Hey Jack... what's for breakfast ? " Jack sighed, " Does it really matter Dean? You will eat whatever is put in front of you anyway. " Jack sat at the head with Robbie and Sara on either side and Dean and Angela at the other end. They all glanced as they watched Robbie barely come up for air. Sara's heart broke as she watched her son eat as though he might not get another meal. Jack placed his hand over hers and their eyes met..he told her everything would be fine with a single glance. Jack reached for a another piece of bacon and Sara slapped his hand " Oww..what the hell was that for? " Sara stared at him for a moment , " people who eat chicken and drink beer in the middle of the night do not get seconds on bacon. " Jack turned and watched as Robbie took a few more pieces. He and his son exchanged glances but Jack said nothing. " Fine." was all he would say and Robbie smiled. Dean laughed and reached over for more bacon and Sara slapped his hand as well. " Hey !..I wasn't eating chicken last night. " Sara turned and stared at him, this was for Jack she thought. " No..but people who take the last TWO pieces of cake don't get seconds either. " Angela laughed , " I told you not to take it. " Sara turned and winked at Jack and he smiled brightly. Robbie tapped him on the leg and Jack turned to look at him, he tilted his head slightly and when Jack looked down , his son was passing him more bacon. He had to hide his laugh with a cough. When breakfast was over Sara said to Robbie, "Ok you do the clean up . " Robbie looked at his mother with shock , " What did I do ? " Sara raised an eyebrow , " He did not drink six beers and eat all that chicken alone . Hop to it solider boy. " Robbie laughed out loud, " I should have known, " Then to Jack , " Thanks anyway" When Robbie went into the kitchen Jack said to Sara and the others, " I would like to have a traditional Thanksgiving, for Robbie. Obviously you two , I am going to ask Jennifer to allow us to have Jack and Abby is staying in NY anyway. I just thought he should have his family around him. Agent Todd as well..I guess " Sara smiled and touched his hand , " Is it any wonder why I love you so much..That's a wonderful idea." Jack leaned forward and they kissed, " Well I am off..I need to go to the office for a while then I am picking up Jack." He kissed Sara again , " I love you. I'll just say goodbye to Robert. " Sara turned to her friends , " You know..Jack has never had a real family Thanksgiving . I think maybe I can do something for both of them. Will you guys help me out ? " Angela smiled , " Yeah..sure. Whatever you need. " Dean stood up, " I can take shots of everything make a digital album for you. " Sara liked that idea, " That would be perfect. Angela you can help me make the phone calls . "



JJ ran into the house , as he always did, "Sara..Sara I'm here!"S Sara came out of the kitchen , " Hey there little man, I missed you." He ran into her arms and gave her a hug. " I missed you too." Then whispering into her ear he asked , " Is he here? Is my brother here? " Sara nodded and whispered back, " He 's right behind you. " JJ gave a small gasp and turned around quickly. Jack watched as he two sons met for the first time, he felt as though his heart stopped beating. " Hello..I'm Jack..your little brother, some people call me JJ but I like Jack better. Do you like to be call Robert or Robbie?" He stuck out his small hand and Robbie could not keep the smile from his face. " Hello Jack..You may call me whatever you wish..I will answer to either one. " He took the small hand in his and gave it a small shake. JJ smiled, " I think..I will call you Robbie." Sara and Jack exchanged glances. " Well then Robbie it is. " For the rest of the day JJ followed him all around asking him questions, " Daddy said you are a Marine.. What kind of ice cream do you like?...Daddy said you were really good at sports , which one is your favorite? ...Do you like to play video games ?....Have you met Abby yet?..." It went on like that all day and to his credit Robbie answered every question and took great joy in the fact that his little brother was so thrilled to meet him. Jack tried to entice JJ to leave Robbie alone for a bit but he would not leave him. " Am I bothering you? I could go inside if you want. " he asked realizing what his father was trying to do. " No..you aren't bothering me buddy. " JJ liked when he called him that. Robbie and Jack sat and watched a Giants football game. JJ sat next to Robbie and finally fell asleep , with his head on Robbie's shoulder. " I am sorry , he is a very enthusiastic child." Robbie smiled , " There is no need..I always wanted a little brother ..I think he is adorable." Later on Dean stopped by with some photos for Jack to approve. JJ heard Robbie call him Uncle Dean. " Hey..if he is Robbie's Uncle then he is mine too right? I mean I should call him Uncle Dean too right Daddy ? " Jack looked up from the photos." Well that would be up to Dean." JJ looked at Dean and waited. Dean gave him a large smile. " That's fine with me." JJ returned his smile , " Cool..Uncle Dean. What about Angela should I call her Aunt? " Dean told him he knew for a fact that she would love that. Sara who came into the living room asked Jack if he could come downstairs with her to help bring up some of her Thanksgiving items. " Right now? " She frowned , " Yes Jack..right now." He sighed " Fine ..right now it is." Once downstairs Sara had gotten together everything she had needed and Jack went to pick up the box. " Not so fast Jack." She pushed the box aside and pulled Jack by his shirt and pulled him down to her. " I have something else I need you to do first. " She whispered in his ear and then blew on it softly sending chills down Jack's body. " Oh..yes of course..I can help you with that. He kissed he passionately. " I have missed this..it's been a while hasn't it. " Sara giggled , knowing it hadn't even been a week, " Feels like forever. Make love to me Jack.." Jack smiled as he lifted Sara'a skirt up and found she had no panties on . " You didn't think I dragged you down her for that stupid box did you." She undid his belt and opened his pants.Both laughing as they kissed and then Jack laid he down on the couch , He removed her shirt and she his.Then he looked down at her , his expression serious. " You have made all my dreams come true Sara , and this is just the beginning..I can't wait to make you my wife." Sara's eyes welled up. " I feel like I am living a dream every time I look at you." Jack held her gaze as he entered her. " I love you so much, " he said as he lowered himself down to kiss her. " Oh..Jack , I love you more then you will ever know. " They moved together slowly. " I do know.." Clinging tightly..the pace picked up , their breathing labored , " Jack..Jack.." Jack moaned , then she rolled over and was on top of him. His hand on the side of her face , the other on her hip . Sara pushed herself and Jack to the brink..Jack rolled her back over and he drove them over the edge once more. They lay there breathing heavy and holding to each other. " Well..I guess I won't mention this tomorrow but..I want you to know..THAT is one of the things I am very thankful for." Jack chuckled , " Yes..I would have to agree with you..completely."



Jack and Sara were in the kitchen and the house was filled with the smell of turkey. Jack asked Sara if Ben was coming and she said he was. " I want it on record..this is for Robert only and if he starts calling you Baby , he is out on his.." The doorbell rang " Get the door will you Jack. " Jack stood looking at her , " No Baby..got it..now get the door...Please." Jack walked to the door muttering to himself, He opened the door , " Sure took you long enough , Happy Turkey day Billy Jack. "







" Well you inviting us in or what? " Steve said with smile. Jack moved aside and then he saw Kayla was there as well. " Happy thanksgiving Jack. " Jack swallowed " Happy Thanksgiving..what..what are you doing here? " Sara came in from the kitchen. " Hey short stuff..Happy Turkey Day. " Steve said as he gave her a hug. " Hi Steve..I am so glad you could make it. " Steve pulled back , " This is my wife Kayla..Kayla this is Sara. " Sara froze for a second only then shook her hand out , " Kayla..it's a pleasure to meet you. " Jack cleared his throat. " Will somebody please tell me what is going on ." Sara walked over to him and placed a hand on his arm. " I thought we should have a Johnson family thanksgiving. Your Mom and sister will be here soon too. " Jack stood and stared at her. " Sara.." he rubbed her shoulders and whispered, "Thank you. " and then he kissed her softly. Robbie came into the living room with JJ. " Uncle Steve ! " the little boy said as he ran into his uncle's arms. " Hey little dude ! I have missed you. " Then all eyes were on Lance Corporal Robert Jamison, standing tall and handsome in his dress uniform. Sara's breath caught and Jack felt a surge of pride. Steve walked over to him and stuck out his hand. " Robert..I am your Uncle Steve. " Robert shook his hand , " It's a pleasure to meet you sir. " Then he turned to Kayla and stuck out his hand , " And you are Aunt Kayla..it's a pleasure to meet you." Sara looked at him with tears in her eyes. " Honey you look wonderful. " Robbie smiled and kissed his mother on the cheek. " It was a special request." he said winking at JJ. " I asked him to wear it." JJ said. Jo and Vern , Adrienne and Justin arrived together, Steve and Jack had already warned Robbie, " They cry..it's what they do. " Vern told him it was an honor to meet him. Jo and Adrienne sobbed , both telling him how handsome he was and that he looked so much like his father. Dean and Angela were there before everyone else and were mingling , Ben had arrived and after speaking with him for a while Robbie left to answer the door. Ben stood and watched them all interacting..the outsider he thought as he drank too much. Robbie opened the door with a smile and found a lovely young blonde at the door. " You must be Abigail. " She stood and looked at her handsome brother , she could see her father in him instantly. " Hello..you I am sure are Robert. " Robbie stepped aside , " I am..please come in. I am glad you are here. " Abby turned and stared at him " You are? " Robbie nodded , " Yes..I am starving. " he said with a big smile. " Abby is here..let's eat! "



Sara insisted that Steve sit at the other head of the table and she sat next to Jack. Sara looked at Jack and then Jack nodded and cleared his throat. Ben watched them as he poured himself another drink . Jack said , " This was a wonderful surprise having all of us together like this.." Then taking Sara's hand , " We want to thank you all for being here and helping us welcome home our son Robert. I am thankful for all of you..and for the chance to have him in our lives again. To second chances. " Everyone raised their glasses and Robbie and Jack smiled at each other , having made the same toast only days before . Ben felt angry, he should be sitting there, holding her hand and toasting to Robbie's return. " I would like to make a toast too." Sara squeezed Jack's hand. All eyes were on Ben now, " A toast to Jack and Sara and their up coming marriage." Sara gave a small gasp and all heads turned and looked at them. Jack lifted Sara's hand and kissed it , raising his glass he looked at Ben , " I'll drink to that. "

Great chapter! I really liked the Johnson family Thanksgiving. JJ was so cute following Robert around all day.

Abigail looked at her father and he leaned over to her and whispered something in her ear. She was angry but gave him a slight nod. " Well this is quite a surprise," Jo said. Sara looked upset and Jack winked at her. " We were not going to say anything just yet..we wanted to concentrate on Robert's homecoming, but since Agent Todd let the proverbial cat out of the bag.." Adrienne looked from Abigail to Jack, " When did all this happen? " Jack turned from Sara to his sister, " The night before we found out about Robert. " Then to Sara , " You might as well put it on..the ring I mean. " Sara reached into her pocket and Jack gave her a questioning look. she whispered to him, " I like to always have it with me. " He smiled at her took the ring and placed it on her finger. Kayla and Adrienne's eyes opened wide. " Wow that's some ring Jack. " his sister said. Kayla agreed, " Yes it's beautiful. " Sara squirmed in her seat , " Isn't it?...I am mean thank you." Steve took it all in , his eyes drawn to Ben and the way he was drinking. Then looking down the table he locked eyes with his brother. He knew from the look Jack gave him that Ben was trying to cause trouble. " Welcome to the family short stuff. " and he raised his glass to Sara. The Johnson's all followed his lead, Sara sighed and smiled at Steve. " Thank you. " she mouthed to him.



Jack was helping Sara in the kitchen and Jo shooed him out."You go on out there and enjoy yourself son, I will help Sara and Adrienne and Kayla will be in any minute to help." Sara looked up at Jack..fear in her eyes. He chuckled , " Ok..if you insist. " He bent down and kissed her and she frowned at him, smacking his behind with the dishtowel as he left. " Jo..really ..you should go inside and enjoy you family..Angela and I can do it..right Angie. " She turned from putting the leftovers away, " Oh yes..absolutely. Sara's right Jo..go inside and enjoy yourself. " Jo shook her head, " Nonsense..it gives me some time to spend with my future daughter in-law," Sara and Angela exchanged glances. Angela left to see if the table was fully cleared. " Look Jo , I don't do beating around the bush well..I know you must be thinking that this is all too soon. But not for me..I love your son. I have never stopped loving him..I just want you to know that I will do everything in my power to make him happy. " Jo smiled and took Sara into a hug. " Well judging by what I have seen these few times that I have seen you two together..I don't think you have to do much. "

Jack sat on his bed as Abby paced the room. " I can't believe you weren't going to tell me ! " Jack sighed, " Abigail , we wanted to wait a bit..actually Sara wanted everyone to get accustomed to us before we announced it. The others all found out by accident. " Abby spun around on her father, " And Mom..what about her? Where you going to just let her read about it? Jack shook his head..he would have to tell her. " She knows..I told her already. Don't ask me..she took it as you think . I am sorry sweetheart really I am..if you could just let go of your anger and disappointment you would see how happy I am. " Abby shook her head , " What about us ? Our happiness ..well mine and mom's..they seem to have JJ wrapped around their little fingers. He hasn't left Robert's side all night. Don't you have any concern for what mom is going through? " How to word this, Jack thought he could not say that her mother had no concern for him those many times she moved on. " Your mother has always done what she thought was best for her and you kids and now I am doing the same." JJ stuck his head in the bedroom, " There you two are..I was looking all over. C'mon Abby come and talk to Robbie. He's our brother and you haven't.. " Abby snapped at him, " Half brother..he is our half brother. " JJ looked upset, " Daddy what does that mean? Does that mean he isn't really my big brother? " Jack gave Abby a stern look and she turned away,"No little man..it just means ..well you and Abigail have the same Daddy and Mommy and you and Robbie only have the same Daddy. " JJ smiled, " Oh..I get it ..half. As long as he is my brother. " Then he frowned at his sister, " Don't be such a brat Abby." Then he walked out to join the others.

Robert was standing with Ben and Dean , " Why..why did you do that ? " Dean asked. " I don't know..it just came out. " Robbie looked at him, " You tried to cause trouble..They asked you here because they knew I would want you here and that's what you do? You have had way too much to drink. " he walked away and his grandmother stopped to talk with him.



Abby went to the kitchen for a drink and found Sara there. " Hello Abby..look I am so sorry for what happened. Your father and I did not want this to come out like that. " Abby took a breath , " Look Sara, It's not that I don't like you..I do, but I will never stop believing that my parents belong together. I am sorry. " Sara sighed as she watched Abby leave the kitchen.



Jo approached her son as he poured himself another drink. "Jack.." He sighed..here comes the lecture he thought. " Look Jo..I know what you are going to say alright. No I don't believe this is sudden. I am sure that I love her. Would I like it if you..my family excepts this..her..yes absolutely. But the truth is..It will not sway me one way or the other. I want HER." Jo brushed the stray hair from Jack's forehead. " Well you don't know everything. I was only going to ask you one question. Are you happy son? " Jack smiled and placed his hand on her shoulder. " Happier then I have ever been." She hugged him tightly, " That's all I need to know..it's all that matters." Jack sighed, she was remarkable , this mother of his. It was her encouragement that lead him back to Sara in the first place. " Thank you....Mom."

Abby stood looking out the balcony door. Robbie approached her. " Are you alright? " he asked. Abby looked at him through the reflection in the glass. " You look a lot like my..like Dad." Robbie smiled. " So everyone keeps saying. I have enjoyed getting to know everyone..however YOU have been avoiding me like the plague. " Despite herself Abby smiled, after all this was not his fault , he didn't ask to be born and he had lived through a horrible experience. " Well you seem to have won over JJ." Robbie turned his head and his gaze landed on the little boy as he giggled while Dean held him upside down and Vern tickled him. " Well I do believe that little boy has me tightly entrenched around his little finger. " Abby turned and looked at him too, " He does have that effect on everyone." Robbie turned to her, " I would like to get to know you as well..." She looked up into his bright blue eyes, while she may not like the recent turn of events in her life , he was going to be apart of theirs lives regardless..that might not be such a bad thing. " I would like that. " she said with a small smile.



Jack was at the bar handing Dean a drink when Steve and Kayla came over. " Jack , your son is a fine young man. " Kayla said. Jack swallowed , " No thanks to me..it's all Sara. She did a wonderful job raising him. " Steve put his hand on Jack's shoulder , " You should be very proud of him." Jack smiled and looked at his brother, " I am. He is a lot like you in a great many ways, and for that I am thankful. " Kayla watched them both with a hidden smile. Adrienne came over asking Kayla if she wanted to go downstairs with her and Jo. Angela offered to show them around the apartment so they can put their things in the bedrooms. The three women walked away and Steve turned to Jack. " What's the deal with this Agent Todd ? " Jack sighed , " He is in love with Sara..wants my son ..he believes I stole his life. " Steve shook his head , " You worried ? " Jack gave him a lopsided smile. " I am never worried with Sara . " Steve cocked his head, " I was only around for the beginning of you and Jennifer, so I don't know first hand about your life with her. But you seem to me anyway to be sure about you and Sara. You happy little brother? " Jack took a deep breath , " I love her with all my heart and soul. She makes me a better man, without even trying. She gives me strength and confidence I have not felt since I knew her in college. I only have to look at her and I can feel her unconditional love flow through me. " Sara smiled as she heard what Jack had said. She walked away wiping a tear from her eye , he did the same for her..something she must be sure to tell him. Jack looked his brother in the eye , " She loves me for who I am not despite it . She never judges me , she may argue or disagree with me but I am never afraid she is going to leave me . I never stop thinking about her , I want to be with her every moment of the day and night. I have never known this kind of happiness. " Steve chuckled , " You know , a simple yes would have answered the question just fine Billy Jack."



Sara was out on the balcony turning on the heaters, not they really needed them because it was a beautiful night. Ben saw his moment and took it. He approached her and when she saw him coming she started to shake her head. " No..no..I am not doing this with you. You had no right to announce that. I told you we didn't want to . You know Ben you are very spiteful when you are drunk. " She turned to walk away and he grabbed her by the arm , which she yanked from his grasp. " Sara..this isn't right. You know that. We should be getting married..we should be celebrating Robbie's return..together." Sara blew out a breath and looked down. " Ben ..you are only hurting yourself more by doing this. Please you have to let it go. Robbie loves you and he wants to maintain a relationship with you..but it is over between us..it has been for a long time. I wish I could do something to help you see. " These were not the words he wanted from her. He was drunk..his head was pounding as was his heart. He grabbed her by the arms , " Kiss me..kiss me and tell me you don't feel anything" Even as she shook her head and tried to pull away he crashed down on her wrapping his arms around her in a bear hold. His mouth pressing hard on hers and she struggled to push him off of her . She got an arm free and when he came up for air she slapped him. " Stop it Ben! ..let go of ME !.. You are drunk! " He knew he was wrong..but he could not help himself , " I love you Sara.." and he came down on her again crushing himself into her.



Jack watched them outside. Then his eyes grew wide and wild as he saw him grab her and kiss her , Steve followed his line of vision in time to see Sara slap Ben. " Jack.." The glass slid from Jack's hand and he charged for the door. Across the room both Dean and Robbie saw the scene on the balcony and the three men chased after Jack. He threw the door open and pulled Ben from Sara punching him in the face. "Get your hands off of her .." Jack lifted him by his shirt and punched him again. Steve pulled Jack off. Ben stood up and wiped his mouth. Then he screamed and charged at Jack grabbing locking his arms around Jack's waist and tackling him to the ground. He pinned Jack down and punched him twice in the face. Sara tried to get him off but Robbie pulled her " Get out of the way Mom ! " Jack yelled out and rolled Ben over . They were rolling around the ground as the men tried to separate them. They got to their feet and Ben charged at Jack again both men falling onto and smashing the glass patio table. Finally Dean and Steve grabbed Jack and Robbie punched Ben hard in the stomach stopping him from advancing again. They he grabbed Ben by the shirt " ENOUGH ! " he shouted. Sara stood hand over her mouth crying. Robbie told Dean to take Ben to the elevator and he would go with him to bring Ben home. Even as Dean pushed Ben towards the door he was shouting , " Sara! ..Sara ..I have to talk to you .." Robbie walked over to his father , " You ok? " Jack nodded blood coming from his lip and forehead. Then with a small smile he leaned down. " You did alright. I will be back in a little while." Now he would deal with Ben himself.

" Robbie looked at him, " You tried to cause trouble..They asked you here because they knew I would want you here and that's what you do? You have had way too much to drink. " he walked away and his grandmother stopped to talk with him.



Abby went to the kitchen for a drink and found Sara there. " Hello Abby..look I am so sorry for what happened. Your father and I did not want this to come out like that. " Abby took a breath , " Look Sara, It's not that I don't like you..I do, but I will never stop believing that my parents belong together. I am sorry. " Sara sighed as she watched Abby leave the kitchen.



Jo approached her son as he poured himself another drink. "Jack.." He sighed..here comes the lecture he thought. " Look Jo..I know what you are going to say alright. No I don't believe this is sudden. I am sure that I love her. Would I like it if you..my family excepts this..her..yes absolutely. But the truth is..It will not sway me one way or the other. I want HER." Jo brushed the stray hair from Jack's forehead. " Well you don't know everything. I was only going to ask you one question. Are you happy son? " Jack smiled and placed his hand on her shoulder. " Happier then I have ever been." She hugged him tightly, " That's all I need to know..it's all that matters." Jack sighed, she was remarkable , this mother of his. It was her encouragement that lead him back to Sara in the first place. " Thank you....Mom."

Abby stood looking out the balcony door. Robbie approached her. " Are you alright? " he asked. Abby looked at him through the reflection in the glass. " You look a lot like my..like Dad." Robbie smiled. " So everyone keeps saying. I have enjoyed getting to know everyone..however YOU have been avoiding me like the plague. " Despite herself Abby smiled, after all this was not his fault , he didn't ask to be born and he had lived through a horrible experience. " Well you seem to have won over JJ." Robbie turned his head and his gaze landed on the little boy as he giggled while Dean held him upside down and Vern tickled him. " Well I do believe that little boy has me tightly entrenched around his little finger. " Abby turned and looked at him too, " He does have that effect on everyone." Robbie turned to her, " I would like to get to know you as well..." She looked up into his bright blue eyes, while she may not like the recent turn of events in her life , he was going to be apart of theirs lives regardless..that might not be such a bad thing. " I would like that. " she said with a small smile.



Jack was at the bar handing Dean a drink when Steve and Kayla came over. " Jack , your son is a fine young man. " Kayla said. Jack swallowed , " No thanks to me..it's all Sara. She did a wonderful job raising him. " Steve put his hand on Jack's shoulder , " You should be very proud of him." Jack smiled and looked at his brother, " I am. He is a lot like you in a great many ways, and for that I am thankful. " Kayla watched them both with a hidden smile. Adrienne came over asking Kayla if she wanted to go downstairs with her and Jo. Angela offered to show them around the apartment so they can put their things in the bedrooms. The three women walked away and Steve turned to Jack. " What's the deal with this Agent Todd ? " Jack sighed , " He is in love with Sara..wants my son ..he believes I stole his life. " Steve shook his head , " You worried ? " Jack gave him a lopsided smile. " I am never worried with Sara . " Steve cocked his head, " I was only around for the beginning of you and Jennifer, so I don't know first hand about your life with her. But you seem to me anyway to be sure about you and Sara. You happy little brother? " Jack took a deep breath , " I love her with all my heart and soul. She makes me a better man, without even trying. She gives me strength and confidence I have not felt since I knew her in college. I only have to look at her and I can feel her unconditional love flow through me. " Sara smiled as she heard what Jack had said. She walked away wiping a tear from her eye , he did the same for her..something she must be sure to tell him. Jack looked his brother in the eye , " She loves me for who I am not despite it . She never judges me , she may argue or disagree with me but I am never afraid she is going to leave me . I never stop thinking about her , I want to be with her every moment of the day and night. I have never known this kind of happiness. " Steve chuckled , " You know , a simple yes would have answered the question just fine Billy Jack."



Sara was out on the balcony turning on the heaters, not they really needed them because it was a beautiful night. Ben saw his moment and took it. He approached her and when she saw him coming she started to shake her head. " No..no..I am not doing this with you. You had no right to announce that. I told you we didn't want to . You know Ben you are very spiteful when you are drunk. " She turned to walk away and he grabbed her by the arm , which she yanked from his grasp. " Sara..this isn't right. You know that. We should be getting married..we should be celebrating Robbie's return..together." Sara blew out a breath and looked down. " Ben ..you are only hurting yourself more by doing this. Please you have to let it go. Robbie loves you and he wants to maintain a relationship with you..but it is over between us..it has been for a long time. I wish I could do something to help you see. " These were not the words he wanted from her. He was drunk..his head was pounding as was his heart. He grabbed her by the arms , " Kiss me..kiss me and tell me you don't feel anything" Even as she shook her head and tried to pull away he crashed down on her wrapping his arms around her in a bear hold. His mouth pressing hard on hers and she struggled to push him off of her . She got an arm free and when he came up for air she slapped him. " Stop it Ben! ..let go of ME !.. You are drunk! " He knew he was wrong..but he could not help himself , " I love you Sara.." and he came down on her again crushing himself into her.



Jack watched them outside. Then his eyes grew wide and wild as he saw him grab her and kiss her , Steve followed his line of vision in time to see Sara slap Ben. " Jack.." The glass slid from Jack's hand and he charged for the door. Across the room both Dean and Robbie saw the scene on the balcony and the three men chased after Jack. He threw the door open and pulled Ben from Sara punching him in the face. "Get your hands off of her .." Jack lifted him by his shirt and punched him again. Steve pulled Jack off. Ben stood up and wiped his mouth. Then he screamed and charged at Jack grabbing locking his arms around Jack's waist and tackling him to the ground. He pinned Jack down and punched him twice in the face. Sara tried to get him off but Robbie pulled her " Get out of the way Mom ! " Jack yelled out and rolled Ben over . They were rolling around the ground as the men tried to separate them. They got to their feet and Ben charged at Jack again both men falling onto and smashing the glass patio table. Finally Dean and Steve grabbed Jack and Robbie punched Ben hard in the stomach stopping him from advancing again. They he grabbed Ben by the shirt " ENOUGH ! " he shouted. Sara stood hand over her mouth crying. Robbie told Dean to take Ben to the elevator and he would go with him to bring Ben home. Even as Dean pushed Ben towards the door he was shouting , " Sara! ..Sara ..I have to talk to you .." Robbie walked over to his father , " You ok? " Jack nodded blood coming from his lip and forehead. Then with a small smile he leaned down. " You did alright. I will be back in a little while." Now he would deal with Ben himself.

Robbie came up to Ben grabbing him by his shirt, " What the hell was that ..huh? Have you ever done that before? , " he asked shoving Ben back against the wall. " Have you ever gotten violent with my mom ? " Ben was shaking his " I have never ..would never get violent with Sara. I was just trying to make a point. " Robbie let him go , " Stay away from her Ben..for your own good and hers. You have to let her go. " Ben shook his head .Dean placed his hand on Ben's shoulder. "You know..she never really belonged to you..you've said it yourself..she never stopped loving Jack. Go back inside Robbie..I can get him in a cab myself."



Steve called Kayla and told her what happened , asking her to stay downstairs with Adrienne and Jo. Vern and Justin had went down with them before the fight to bring the bags down. Kayla asked if Jack or anyone else needed medical help. " Nah..everyone is alright here. I am gonna hang around for a little while then I will be downstairs." Jack sat in a chair on the balcony with ice on his face. " Daddy ! what happened?" Abby shouted. " Wow ! you ok Daddy? " Jack nodded.." I am fine , just a little accident that's all. Abby can you put your brother to bed for me please. " Abby stood and she looked at her Uncle then to Angela sweeping up the glass.Steve touched her shoulder , " Baby just do what you the old man asked ok? " She nodded. Abby brought JJ back to his room. " Wait..I want to say goodnight to Sara. " he ran down the hallway to the closed door. " Wait JJ,," As Abby came closer she could her crying. JJ knocked on the door , 'Sara..it's me ..Jack..I want to say goodnight to you." Sara opened the door , tissue in hand. " Good night honey. " she said as she hugged him. " Sara why are you crying..is because Daddy got hurt ? " she only nodded. The little boy patted her back, " Don't cry he is fine." Then he went off to bed. Abby looked at Sara her lip was a little swollen and bleeding. " Are you ok Sara? " Sara gave her a sad smile. " Yes..no..I wanted to give your Dad a perfect Thanksgiving..and it was ruined. " Abby looked down then back to Sara , " I am sure everything will be just fine. "

Abby went downstairs, she was going to stay there with everyone else , sleeping on the couch. Jack and the other men were in the living room. Sara peeked outside and saw the four men sitting and talking. Angela came to her , " Go talk to him Sara.." Sara shook her head , " I can't..is he alright? Was he hurt badly? " Angela frowned , " He is upset..he thinks you are mad at him now. " Sara looked confused. " Why do you think that? " Angela huffed , " It's what he said when I was cleaning up his cuts , he thinks that's why you were hiding in..what happened to your lip ? "



Angela went to bed in the spare room and Sara crept out into the living room and everyone looked at her. " I was just going to go to bed..I am so sorry. " Robbie kissed her , "Go talk to him..he's in the kitchen." She nodded. " I love you." Sara found Jack sitting at the table holding ice on his face. She knelt in front of him. " Oh Jack..are you ok? Let me see. " She pulled his hand away, his eye was getting black and blue and his lip and forehead had cuts on them. She began to cry. " Oh Jack..I am so sorry..all I wanted to do was give you a real family Thanksgiving and I got you beat up instead. " She knew of course what he had been thinking but she didn't want him to know that Angela had told her. She placed her hand on his face , he looked into her eyes and his mouth opened. He ran his finger over her lip. " How did that happen? Did I ..." Sara put her finger over his lips , " Shh..No ..it was him. When he ..you know..my lip got cut on his tooth. Thank you..Jack. For protecting me..you were my hero..again." Jack shook his head , " I lost it when I saw him grab you like he did. I thought you were angry. .. with me." Sara reached up and kissed him passionately. " What do you think I would have done if I saw Jennifer trying to seduce you? " He smiled at her , " I shudder to think." Sara took his face in her hands, " You were protecting your own , don't ever apologize for that. Now I am going to bed and you damn well better wake me up when you come in. You were incredibly hot while you were defending my honor. " Then she kissed him again and went to bed, leaving Jack with a big smile on his face.



The four men were laughing when Dean said "Hey want to see the photos I took tonight." They all sat around as Dean showed his photos on the tv screen. The picture of all Jack's kids together was his favorite. No the one of he and Robert. No he loved them all. A photo of Jack and Steve laughing made them both smile. Jack sighed at the one of him and Sara. " Ok this disk is even better" Dean said as he loaded the disk. Then images appeared on screen of Jack punching Ben. " Ohh nice shot Dad ! " Robbie said . Jack looked at him and smiled , knowing if he would never tire of hearing that. " I like this one. " Dean said . It was Ben tackling Jack, " Oh that had to hurt Billy jack. " Jack laughed. " Not as much as it would have if he were not drunk." The four men laughed and drank beer . Jack thought,he was spending time laughing with his son , brother and best friend and inside his future wife was lying in bed waiting for him. Yes, this was a pretty good Thanksgiving after all.



Jack and the guys stayed up for another couple of hours. Each took turns getting picked on by the others. They finally broke for bed at about 2:30 am. Jack opened his bedroom door and his breath caught. She was on the bed wearing a lovely deep purple silk nightgown that was sheer lace on top, fanned out around her. There was just enough of her legs showing to be sexy. Her hair was loose and was surrounding her face. He had two thoughts in his mind, one being how very beautiful she was. The other was that she was his. She was smart and sexy, independent and strong and she loved him...exactly as he was. She didn't want or need him to be anything other than what he was. He stood at the foot of the bed just watching her sleep. He loved her more then he had ever imagined possible. Just the site of her made his pulse race. " Tell me, " her voice barely a whisper as she propped herself up on her elbows. " Are you going to come over here and make love to me or just stand there and stare at me? " Jack took a deep breath , " What do you think?" As he came around to her side of the bed she sat up on her knees and wrapped her arms around his neck. " Oh Jackie.. " she spoke as the kissed each other softly. " I have loved you all of my life it seems and no matter how long I live , you will always be the only man I will ever , could ever love. " Jack rubbed his finger over the dent in her chin. " Oh Sara..what you do you do to me.." She shook her head slowly. " No Jack..it's what I am going to do to you. " she pulled his shirt off him and undid his pants dropping them to the floor. Then without warning she took him by his shoulder and threw him down on the bed . Jack laughed loudly , " Shhhh..." Sara placed her finger on his lips, " We have to be very quiet..you think you can do that ? " Her finger traced a path from his lips down his throat down to his boxers. " I can do anything as long as I have you . " She took off his boxers and made him roll onto his back. Jack complied with out question. Sara straddled him and began to rub his neck and shoulders. " Mmmm..that feels so good. " Sara massaged his arms , shoulders neck and back. Finally Jack rolled over , he began running his hand all over her then he pulled her nightgown over her head. She leaned down and they kissed with longing. She kissed him everywhere she could slowly at first then with urgency . He pulled her up to his face desperate to kiss her again. The he grasped her hips firmly and positioned her over him. " Now.." He gasped , " Yes..yes Jack..now." her own breath ragged. He slid inside of her and both just held the position , reveling in the feel of it all. Sara began moving slowly on top of him . He held her hips firmly keeping her pace slow. Then with each movement she made he countered it with one of his own. Jack pulled her down to him kissing her all over , then he held her close and sat up with her in his lap. They moved together in that position for a while then he laid her down until each were in the throes of fulfillment . They both started to release soft moans. Jack collapsed onto her. He buried his face in her neck and breathed her in. " Oh Jack...I love you...I love who and what we are together. " Jack lifted his head " My thoughts exactly."



Sara had breakfast catered as she and Jack slept in longer then they had expected . They all sat around the table talking and laughing. " Hey Mama..you should make that noodle casserole for lunch. You know how much we all love it. " Steve said as he watched Jack freeze , fork in air. " Don't be ridiculous.." he said quickly. " I mean..ahh..she is not to do any cooking..she is a guest in our home. Right sweetheart? " Sara looked at him through squinted eyes. " But Jackson..Robert has been introduced to the Johnson family tradition.." Steve said with a raised eyebrow and evil smile. Jo agreed with Steve. " I think that's wonderful idea. Sara and I will go out get the ingredients I need after breakfast. Would you like that Robbie? " Jo asked excitedly. Robbie watched his Uncle who ha big smile on his face then he looked at his father who was shaking his head quickly. " Sure that would be great. " Jo went into the kitchen to make another pot of coffee. " Ok ..I got fifty bucks says you don't finish the plate." Steve said as he sat back arms folded. " Oh that's real nice Steve. " Kayla said to him. " Well now hold on a minute..I will take a piece of that ..and I have an extra fifty If you can eat seconds. " Jack said. " You two are awful. " Adrienne added with a smile. Robbie looked from one to the other then he felt a tug on his sleeve. He looked down to see a look of horror on JJ's face. " Don't do it Robbie. " " It's ok buddy." Then to his Uncle and Father, " You two seem to forget where I have been for the last seven years. I can eat ANYTHING. I will feel almost bad when I take your money." JJ was shaking his head , " Big mistake. " Steve looked at JJ , " Hey little dude..I will give you ten dollars if you eat some." JJ looked at his Uncle and his little hands waved in the air. " No way !..I will give you all the money in my piggy bank if I DON'T have to eat it." Everyone started laughing , " Oh yea.. Jackson.what you got there is a chip off the old block.."



The women were in the kitchen doing the breakfast clean up when Jack came in looking for more coffee. " So have you two set a date ? " Jo asked . Sara told them that they haven't really had time to talk about anything. " Well I was thinking you had better start planning. I mean January 8th is right around the corner. " He said as he poured the last of the coffee. Sara stopped and her eyes filled with tears. " Jack..You remembered the date? " He didn't care that they all were watching them. " As if I could ever forget it. " he said with his hand on her face. Then he gave her a small sweet kiss. Of course that was the day they had first made love. Abby stood watching them if she felt glad for her father's happiness wouldn't that be an act of betrayal toward her mother? She had gotten her parents back together once before..why not again. She had a little more then a month to do it and her little surprise might be a step in the right direction.



It was mid afternoon and Robbie had just won a hundred dollars. " Hey I say let's take the kid's money away. Anybody up for a bit of poker? Everyone but Jo and Vern agreed on playing. They would try and keep JJ occupied. They were setting up to play when the doorbell rang . Jack and Sara jokingly raced to it. Jack caught her and wrapped his arms around her from behind. He was kissing her neck very enthusiastically as she opened the door. " Perfect..Just perfect" Sara said. Jack barely looked up . Then he picked his head up slowly, never taking his arms from Sara. " Jennifer...what are you doing here? " Jennifer bit back her tears. " Abby wanted me to go Black Friday shopping with her. Didn't she tell you? " Jack clenched his jaw. " No..no she didn't." Abby came over , " Hey Mom. " Jennifer looked at her daughter, " You didn't tell your Father I was coming. " Abby looked at Jack, " Oh didn't I ?..Sorry..Mom come on in the whole family is here. " Sara turned and looked at Jack and he said to her with a raised eyebrow , " So..that's how they want to play this..ok..we can play that game too."

Jennifer sat at the dining room table trying to make conversation with Kayla and Adrienne. Both were feeling a bit hesitant. Jack and Steve were on the balcony , Sara and Jo in the kitchen. " So..this is a bit awkward huh? " Jack looked at Steve , " That's an understatement. This was done on purpose, to be sure. Not sure though if it was all Abigail or if Jennifer was in on it , I would like to think not. But she will try and use it , of that i am certain." Steve smirked , " What do you want me to do? "



Jo watched Sara making another pot of coffee. She knew that her future daughter in law was upset, she wanted to do something to help. " You know Sara..I want to thank you. I have never seen my son this happy. " Sara smiled , " Thank you for that Jo. I know I shouldn't get so rattled but..after last night ..now Jennifer. " Jo gave her a sly smile, " That really is a lovely ring ." Sara raised her eyebrows. " Why thank you."



Abby was inside getting ready to go..when her father knocked on the door. " I thought you could use some money to shop with. " Abby smiled , " Thank you Daddy." Jack turned and faced her as he got to the door , " Oh..and Abigail? Don't ever pull a stunt like this again. " She opened her mouth then closed it again. " Do you understand me ? I will not put up with. Abigail? " She sighed and looked at the floor, " Yes Daddy..I understand." Jack nodded and left the room. Sara using her left hand handed Jennifer her cup. Jennifer's eyes grew wide but she said nothing. " How do you even hold that hand up with that rock on it. ? " Steve asked. Sara laughed, " Don't you worry ..I manage just fine." Jennifer's eyes landed on Jack as he came into the room carrying their son who was laughing , then she saw him. Jack's son. He truly was a young Jack Deveraux. She saw the Jack she had met and married there. " Jennifer..this is our son Robert. Robert this is my ex-wife Jennifer Horton. " Robbie shook her hand , " It's a pleasure to meet you." Jennifer didn't know what to say, she suddenly felt very uncomfortable. " Oh my..you look so much.." Robbie finished it , " Like my father.." Jennifer wanted to cry . He was there in front of her proof positive of the love Jack and Sara had shared. Jack had put JJ down and went over to Sara standing behind her arms wrapped around her. " JJ want don't you come shopping with Abby and me? " JJ shook his head, " Do I have to he said looking at Sara? " She looked from Jack to Jennifer, then to JJ , " Well Jack..I think that is up to your Mom and Dad. " JJ frowned , " But your going to be my Mom too. " Jennifer didn't know whether to scream or cry. She had lost Jack..now her son ? " I am your mother JJ..IF Daddy and Sara get married. .." Jack spoke up now, " When..Jennifer..you said IF and that is wrong. It isn't IF it's WHEN. " Jennifer looked at jack, " That's what I meant. " Jack took a deep breath , " Well..the child doesn't to go..and beside that this is my weekend. " Jennifer nodded. " Yes of course. Jo maybe you and Adrienne and Kayla would like to come along with us? " Jo shook her head and Adrienne told her, " Oh gee , Jennifer We would love to but we did come here to spend time with Jack and Sara. " Jennifer smiled , " Yes of course. " When they ready to go Jo followed, Jennifer told Abby to wait by the elevator. " Jo..what do you think about all this? This is crazy..why is he rushing to get married? Is she pushing him into this? " Jo took a deep breath, " Jennifer , I will admit i thought it was soon at first. But , Jack is happier then I have seen him in a very long time. I know that this is hard for you to hear but..Sara is good for Jack. She gives him confidence , like I have never seen in him. not even when he was young. Don't think that he is trying to prove something, He is very much in love her and she with him. " Jennifer had tears in her eyes. " I am not saying this to hurt you, really I am not. But unlike the two of you, they more the outside world pulls at them the tighter the hold to each other...that's the way it should be. " Then she went back inside hoping Jennifer understood what she tried to tell her.






" You mean to tell me that none of you have never been to Rockefeller Center ? I say let's go..come on it will be fun ! " Robbie looked at his mother with a small smile, " Maybe we can ice skate." Sara , Dean and Angela all got huge smiles. " Oh honey ..that would be perfect. " Jack saw the looks on their faces and asked Sara, " Ice skating? " Sara explained that they would go at least two times a year, once when it first opens for the season and then again after the tree is lit. " Robbie was watching his mother as her face lit up. " It's where Mom taught me to skate. " Jack watched the emotion play on both their faces . " Alright then..let's do this. Everyone get their coats..we are going on a field trip."



" WOW ! That's one big tree. " JJ Said as he held Jo's hand. While everyone was taking pictures in front of the beautifully lit tree Jack went to see about getting them set up for ice skating. He walked over and asked " Who is skating? " Everyone got their skates on and was getting ready to go out on the ice. Jack and Steve stood back. " We will be out in a few minutes. " Steve assured his wife. " Oh I wish Justin and Vern had come with us. " Adrienne said sadly. " yes I would have enjoyed watching Vern "hit" the ice. " Jack said , Jo smacked him in the arm . " Honestly Jack ! " Then everyone on the ice came in and Sara looked around confused.She turned to see Jack wearing a sweet smile. " I bought forty minutes of ice time..for just us. Also I had texted Abby earlier , I hope she makes it here. " Robbie looked at Jack with his mouth open, " Wow! Let's go , " He stuck his hand out to his Mother. " Come on..you and me Mom ? " Sara nodded and blew out a breath. " Absolutely. " Jack watched as Sara and their son held hands and skated around the rink. Dean wiped a tear from his wife's cheek. Then they hit the ice and the four held hands and skated around. "Come on everybody get out here." Sara came over and took JJ's hand " You ready Jack? " He smiled and stuck out his hands. She explain to him how to move his feet and then she skated backwards as she held onto his hands and pulled him across the ice. " Daddy ! look I am skating ! " Jack waved to his little boy. " Great job little man!" Jo wiped her eyes. " Isn't this wonderful..oh Jack thank you for this son. This is a memory I will cherish always. " Robbie took over for Sara and Jack beamed with pride at his two sons. Jack and Steve watched their loved ones glide across the ice , all with big smiles. " Steve get out here ! " Kayla shouted. " Come on you too Jack !" Their sister yelled. Steve spoke softly to Jack, " In your wildest dreams ..did you ever image this..for us? Being all together ...this happy." Jack kept his eyes on his family as they went around and around. Sara and Robert each holding JJ's hands pulling the small boy around and waiving to him. " I never dared to image something this wonderful. I only wished for it. " he said , voice cracking. Steve barely found his voice , " Yeah..me too Billy Jack..me too. "



" No baby don't be silly, you go and have fun . I have a plane to catch. " Abby hugged her mother , " Why can't you just come for a little while? " Jennifer shook her head, " It's not a good idea Abby. " Abby walked away toward her father and his family and after she turned and waived , Jennifer waited a few minutes then approached the rail that looked down over the ice rink. She watched as Sara skated backwards holding JJ's hands , then Dean and Angela took him. Robbie was skating backwards talking to Adrienne and Kayla and he bumped into Sara , knocking her back onto her rear. She could hear Jack and Steve yell " Oh !!" then they laughed. Jack and Steve went out on the ice and Steve took Kayla's hand , Adrienne took JJ, and Robbie approached Abby as she was getting ready to step out on the ice. But it was Jack that her eyes were drawn to. He reached Sara and held his hands out to her. As he tried to help her up they both fell back down , laughing. She got up holding onto him and he to her. Jennifer began to cry. Jo had been right. He looked so happy , so strong and confident. He was like the Jack she had first met but without the sadness about him. There was no pain in his eyes, the smile bright and the laugh genuine. She wiped the tears from her eyes and walked away.



Robbie approached Abby and held out his hand to her. " I am glad you made it . " She gave him a small smile. She looked at her father laughing and everyone so happy, " Me too. " Abby took Robbie's hand and glided out onto the ice. "Not too bad.." he said to her. " You are good, how long have you been doing this? "she asked. Robbie looked at his watch, "Oh..about 25 minutes. " Abby shook her head, " Wow..you have have Dad's lame sense of humor. " Steve and Kayla came up behind them, " Whoa!...coming through..." Kayla dropped Steve's hand and went around them laughing as Steve bumped into them and he and Abby hit the ice. Robbie started laughing. He stuck his hand out to Abby and she tried to pull herself up and Robbie dropped her on her bottom. Abby laughed then looked up to him, " That's not funny. " Robbie pulled her to her feet. " Yeah..it was." Then leaning in, he told her, " Especially when Uncle Steve fell . " Abby laughed as she turned to watch Steve struggling to get up. " Hey..Dude how but some help for your Uncle? " It was time for them to get off the ice and everyone took one last turn. Jack and Sara held hands and watched as Robbie and Abby held JJ, " Hi grandma ! " he shouted to Jo who was waiving to him.



Everyone had sat having coffee and hot chocolate . Then they all started walking around looking in shop windows. Sara was looking at a pocketbook , " Do you like that ? Come on let's get it. " Sara pulled him back. " No Jack..I am just looking. " Jack took her in his arms , " and they kissed long and lovingly. "If you desire it I want you to have it." he said sweetly." I already have everything I have ever I have desired. What about you ? See anything you want? " she asked. He smiled and raised his eyebrow. " Seriously Jack ..is there anything you want? " Jack thought about it and looked around , touching on the faces of his family. " I can say with complete honesty..that for the first time in my life..I want for nothing. I have everything I desire and need and when we are married it will be complete. " Sara sighed and kissed him , " Well then..we better get planning. "

Jack and Sara ignored the stares when they got back to work, their faces bruised.Jack with a black eye and cuts and Sara with a cut on her lip.The looks also for the rather large diamond ring Sara wore proudly on her left hand. The day went by fairly quickly , Jack came out to see about lunch. Sara was on the phone , her feet up on the desk , pencil wobbling between index and thumb. " I am not asking you for the codes to launch the nukes here, all I want is an MIA list....Yea I get that..but I want to find out who I buried as my son....Yes..I could give some family closure....ok..I will call you back , but understand me...I am not going to drop this. " Jack was sitting with his hip on her desk. " What was that about ? " Sara told him that the Marines won't release a list to her. " Something is up..why else would they be making a big deal about this? " Jack thought a moment. " After lunch I will make a few calls..see what I can get. Ready for lunch? " Sara was still staring at the phone. " Huh ?..Oh yeah lunch..sure. "



Robbie had called Jack and told him that he would meet them for lunch . " Well I have a few job offers..I thought you might want to know about. " That's great honey..what are they ? " Yeah..well I was a Marine and I can speak and understand the language, I have heard and seen things they didn't realize I could understand. I guess both agencies feel that I can be useful. " Yes..I was thinking more Homeland Security.I think my experience and knowledge is better suited to wards that." Jack gave him a nod , " I agree..that does seem to better suit you. Suddenly all the phones in the newsroom went wild. Everyone was yelling and people raced around. Henderson came over to Jack.."There has been a bomb threat..subways..it's almost rush hour..this city about to go nuts..well more then usual. " Sara jumped up and Jack started barking orders. Sara confirmed with her sources that a bomb has been found an disarmed at a station near Wall Street. But there was still another out there. All her contacts had agreed that the second bomb most probably was in the vicinity of the U.N. She called Robbie telling him to stay away from all subway stations. Dean came out of nowhere it seemed and Jack sent him to the site of the first bomb. Sara grabbed her coat and was heading out. " Where are you going? " Jack asked. " Where do you think ?...Down to the U.N. " Jack stood in front of her. " I already sent Henderson down there. " Sara shook her head , " Call him back..It was my source ..my story..you had no right to send another reporter on it ! " Jack's heart raced..he knew she was right but his protective nature had kicked in. " I have every right..as your editor . " Sara threw her coat down. " No Jack..that decision was not made by my editor..that decision was made by my fiancee and I will not allow you to do that. My EDITOR knows I am right. " They stood looking at one another " Sara.."he said softly. She shook her head and grabbed her coat and left the newsroom. Jack blew out a breath , what was he to do ? If he went after her she would be furious. His heart screamed for him to race after her..but his head stopped him. He had to let her do her job..he knew that. So he swallowed his fear and went back to work.



Ben paced as he waited , she should be heading out any minute now..any minute..there she was. " Sara! " She turned and saw him and then frowned at him , " I don't wish to speak to you..just leave me alone. " She continued to walk past him, " It's not at the U.N. " Sara stopped and turned to face him. " I am sure it isn't ..I have a squad going somewhere else. " Sara frowned , " Where ? " Ben hesitated , " Penn Station. " Sara thought about that for a moment. " Between the tourists and rush hour..Penn is going to be mobbed.." She glared at him , " No..I am not lying to you.." Ben said , then added , " You can ride down there with me..give me a chance to apologize. " Sara looked up at the Times building. it would show Jack..she would be at the right scene after all." She nodded and left with Ben.



Sara's phone rang about ten minutes after she had gotten into Ben's car. " What ? " she asked. Jack took a deep breath.." Your editor wants you to forget the U.N. it appears they are now looking at Penn Station. " Sara smirked, " Well tell my editor I am already on the way there." Jack shook his head , " Well your fiancee requests you be careful..please." Sara knew how hard it must have been for him to call her with the update. He could have left her to go to the wrong location. " Tell him that I always am. " she disconnected the call. Ben stole glances at her. " Sara I am very sorry for my behavior the other night. I had no right to do what I did. I was hurt and drunk ...a very bad combination . " Sara was looking out her window , refusing eye contact. " And angry don't forget that. " Ben frowned , " Yeah..that too.." At the light he looked at her seeing the cut on her lip , " What the hell happened to your lip ?..Did he .." Sara turned her head quickly to face him , fire in her eyes. " Don't be an ass Ben. You did this..I cut my lip on YOUR tooth. " The light changed and his eyes went forward , " Oh Sara ..I ..I..am sorry" Ben thought it best to drop the conversation ...for now.



The FBI and bomb squad were evacuating the station when Ben and Sara arrived. They reported to Ben that nothing has been found yet. Then as Ben looked around it occurred to him , that the street was packed with people , police , reporters and onlookers. " Oh no ! " Ben looked at the bomb squad leader , " What if it's out here ? They would know we would evacuate..Start a search on the street ! " Then he turned and Sara looked at him , " Sara !..Sara get in the command truck..hurry !" But as Ben took her by the elbow there was a flash from fifty feet away , a garbage can exploded with enough force to send Sara and Ben into the air and slamming Sara against a truck and Ben to the ground. Ben's ears were ringing , his head pounding. Pandemonium breaking out on the street. He shook his head and jumped up to his feet, " Sara!...Sara!! " He called out , then he saw her. " Oh god ! " He ran through the crowd of people running in all directions. She was on the floor , unconscious , bleeding badly from her head. He lifted her cradling her , " Oh god ..no..Sara come on Baby ..open your eyes. " But there was no movement from her.
