Chapter 1
FIFTEEN YEARS LATER Well, I said I'd come back to them, didn't I? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for me to return to the story that I started just over two years ago. As such, you will notice some major differences in the cast, such as the age of certain characters and so on. I hope that you will enjoy! LUCAS & SAMI'S HOUSE Sami and Lucas were sitting at the table in their kitchen one afternoon. Lucas was reading the paper, while Sami was flipping through a book of colleges. SAMI: I just can't believe it. LUCAS: I know, it's crazy. There is no way the Cubs finally won the series. SAMI: I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the fact that my baby is getting ready for college. Lucas smiled. LUCAS: I know. It seems like just yesterday you brought her into the world. SAMI: Tell me about it. There's just so much to do before she goes. LUCAS: Sami, it's a whole year away. There's plenty of time. SAMI: I know there is. It just feels like...every day, it just keeps getting closer. LUCAS: She'll be fine. Allie was at her age, and she's doing really well now. Out in Green Bay, practicing medicine. SAMI: But, Sydney's just so different than Allie, you know that. LUCAS: I know. But, I also know that she's been having a great last year or two. Lucas got up and hugged Sami. LUCAS: Like I said, it's a whole year away. Besides, she may just decide to go to Salem U like Ciara did after that trip she and Claire took a year ago. I'm concerned for her, too, but we have time to work things out. Everything will be fine. Lucas and Sami kissed. SYDNEY'S BEDROOM Sydney and Ceri were also flipping through books about colleges. Since we last saw them a year ago, their relationship has only grown stronger. CERI: Anything? SYDNEY: Nope. You? CERI: Well, I did read this one advert for CSU? SYDNEY: Chicago State, huh? That's a nice one. CERI: Not bad. Sydney's cell phone beeped. She looked at it, then shut it off. CERI: What was that? SYDNEY: Look at the time. Ceri looked at her watch. CERI: It's that time already? SYDNEY: Yep. The two put their books down and looked into each others eyes. SYDNEY: The exact minute that you and I first met two years ago. The two best years of my life. CERI: Mine too. Sydney and Ceri kiss. CERI: I love you. SYDNEY: I love you. Happy two years. Continuing weekdays...

Chapter 2 ALAMAIN MANSION Nicholas had spent the last year restoring his great aunt's old mansion to its former glory. Now, he and his two daughters were living in it. They were both in their room, getting ready for school. CERI: Any word on when he's coming back? RHIANNON: Nope. And, personally, I don't care. CERI: Really? Because, I kinda thought you would. RHIANNON: Why? CERI: Well, your relationship for a start. RHIANNON: Relationship? CERI: You and he are dating, aren't you? RHIANNON: Nope. We broke up last fall when he left for Washington. CERI: What? You and J.J. broke up? RHIANNON: Yeah. Did I not tell you about this? CERI: No! What happened? RHIANNON: We just kinda fell apart when he got ready to leave. I don't wanna talk about it. At least, not yet. CERI: Okay. The two grabbed their school bags and left. SALEM HIGH The girls had just gotten to school, when Ceri heard her phone go off. She picked it up and looked at it. CERI: It's from Sydney. She showed Rhiannon the text. RHIANNON (reading): "Meet me in the auditorium after school. ❤️ S." Rhiannon silently mouthed the word "yes". CERI: What's that all about? RHIANNON (feigning ignorance): No idea. No idea at all. CERI: Yes, you do. You're smiling. You always smile when you lie. The bell that signaled one minute until class rang. RHIANNON: Good luck. She walked away. WILL & SONNY'S HOUSE Since a year ago, Will and Sonny had moved back to Salem. They figured that, since they were making frequent trips out there anyway, they might as well move back. As Sonny was cooking breakfast, there was a knock at the door. He walked over, opened the door, and smiled. SONNY: Will, there's someone here to see you! Will walked out, adjusting his tie. WILL: Sonny, who...? Then, he saw who it was. WILL: What are you doing here?

Chapter 3 WILL & SONNY'S HOUSE WILL: What are you doing here...so soon? The person at the door is Will's daughter, Arianna. ARI: Hi, papa. WILL: Hey, baby girl! Will and Ari hugged. ARI: Hey, Sonny. SONNY: Come here, you! Sonny and Ari hugged. The three sat down on the couch in the living room. WILL: How are you? How was the flight? ARI: I'm fine. The flight was good. SONNY: Awesome. WILL: So, you're here earlier than we thought you'd be. ARI: Am I? WILL: Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I'm overjoyed that you're here. But, I thought boarding school didn't get out until next week. ARI: Oh yeah. About that... SALEM HIGH - PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE Max was going over the morning announcements. MAX: ...which should be posted within two weeks. Tomorrow is the last day to buy your yearbook. They are on sale in the bookstore, along with a black marker. Again, this is the last day they will be available. Finals begin next week, so please make sure you study hard. This is Principal Brady saying have a nice day. Max put down his microphone and sighed. Ever since the incident that forced Nick into an early retirement, Max had been promoted to principal. There was a knock on the door. MAX: Come in. It was Max's secretary. SECRETARY: There's a call for you on line one, MAX: Thank you. Max picked up the phone. MAX: Principal Brady. Pause. MAX: Excuse me? Pause. MAX: No, no, no. That's not how it works. Pause. MAX: Look, I understand that you're upset, but I think we could discuss this rationally. Why don't you come in this afternoon, say 3:30? Pause. MAX: No, I'm not blowing you off. Pause. At that moment, Max's vice principal, Rex, walked in. Rex had gotten a teaching degree in the interim period, rose to vice principal in Chicago, and then transferred to Salem High when Max was promoted. MAX: It's the earliest time I have. Pause. MAX: Okay. Thank you. Max hung up the phone and sighed. REX: Problem? MAX: Why are we principals, Rex?

Chapter 4 SALEM HIGH - PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE REX: Is that a rhetorical question? MAX: Yes. REX: Rough day so far? MAX: Yep. And it's only 8:45. REX: What's going on, man? MAX: Just another mother whose son is failing his classes. For some reason, she seems to think it's my fault. REX: Which kid is it? MAX: McMullin. REX: Isn't he the one that never shows up, and on the days he does show up, he's a distraction to everybody and no one can get any work done? MAX: That's the one. REX: Well, I'm not surprised that he's failing. MAX: His mother is, apparently. REX: Well, it's not like she can sue us or anything. The teachers give grades that are justified by the quality of work put in by the students. MAX: Try telling her that. REX: Would you mind at all if I sat in on this meeting you're having with the mother this afternoon? I might be able to talk some sense into her. MAX: Actually, I'd be thrilled if you did. Thanks, man. WILL & SONNY'S HOUSE ARI: They let us out a week early. SONNY: Really? WILL: Why would they do that? ARI: I don't know. They just told us that classes were cancelled for the last week and that it was time for us to go home. I took the train in and got a ride from Grandpa Lucas this morning. The school said they sent an e-mail to the parents. WILL: Did they? Hm. I'll have to take a look. Anyway, we're glad you're home. ARI: Thanks. Me too. SONNY: And you came home at the perfect time. I was just cooking up breakfast. ARI: Awesome! SALEM HIGH - CAFETERIA It was now around noon. Sydney and Ceri were getting their food. CERI: What was that text you sent me this morning about? Sydney smiled. SYDNEY: Wait and see. It's a surprise.
