Is there any way for Nicole to save face at this point or does the deception go too deep? Presumably Eric's resignation is close to being finalized(if it hasn't been already) and she has lied to many people already-Eric, Daniel, Hope, Marlena, Roman and more importantly herself. She even seems to be taking Eric's falling out with his mother in stride, despite the fact that she knows Marlena is right.
Obviously when Eric arrived at Daniel's apartment, revealed that he was leaving the priesthood and wanted to be with her, Nicole's thinking shifted dramatically and her main goal has now become keeping Eric.
With this goal in mind, even anonymously providing the evidence or having Daniel act on her behalf would be counter-productive and she would still have to carry on knowing that she lied. If she comes forward herself, she will most definitely lose any ground she has made to restore her reputation, not to mention run the risk of driving Eric away for good.
Are there any other options left for Nicole? With so much time having passed, it seems like a lose-lose situation.

I don't think it's too late for Nicole, but the burden is on her to come clean. I hope that's the advice Daniel gives her. She needs to find a way to explain what she did and apologize and hope the town forgives her the way she has forgiven so many people for treating her poorly.

Maybe Eric and Daniel will end up forgiving her. I don't see Eric's family forgiving her.
She should have hidden the evidence somewhere rather than shredding it.

Either way secrets do have a way of coming out and if and when the truth comes out I can't see Eric forgiving Nicole either for lying to him

Unless she lies and said she fou nd these papers, I don't think there is any redemption for Nicole

Once she shredded those papers she created a big problem for herself. Up to that point, she had a chance to explain but shredding those documents was a very deliberate act to destroy evidence. She may be able to come out of this but it won't be unscathed at this point. She is going to have to fess up to what she did and hope that Eric will eventually understand.
I HATE that the writers took this story in this direction. There were so many other things they could have done for drama and obstacles besides having Nicole revert back to her same old destructive ways.

That's true, she destroyed evidence and that is illegal, so she could face jail time on top of everything else.
So the paper that Daniel found, was that something that Nicole was trying to put back together? I was thinking it was partially shredded but maybe it's the opposite.
