Hope tells Ciara that Bo is going to be gone a lot longer than they thought. Hope is truthful and tells Ciara exactly what is happening with Bo and his work.

Ciara said "he should be here now." How hard this has to be on a child when even the adult, her mother, doesn't understand.

I think Hope handled it as best she could but I think the time has come for Ciara to get some counselling to deal with this. Hope is obviously struggling to cope with Bo's absence and does not seem equipped to deal with Ciara's sadness as well. Ice cream seems to be Hope's fix for everything.
