Change of Season Notes:- This story takes place at the beginning of the 2nd semester of senior year.
- Ryan is a character I made up, based on the casting call they had a few months ago.
- Ryan will be new to Salem High. He's attending there because he was recruited to play football for the Salem Eagles in the new season.
- I changed Tad's name to Ted. Tad/Chad... it's just annoying. Bad enough to have Gabi and Abby.
- Abby's been in town since the beginning of senior year in this story.
- The character list above might change - some other characters may get in the story, some on the list may not.

Chapter 1: The New Kid on the Block
Ryan Ross stared out of the car window, barely listening to his father’s latest antics. This place is nice, he thought, as they approached the town of Salem. It wasn’t like Chicago that’s for sure, but there was something about it that felt homelike. He shook this thought out of his head – he and his father had only stayed six months at the last place he liked; getting attached wasn’t an option, it only made things complicated.
“For God sakes, Ryan! Have you been listening to a word I’ve been saying?” Harvey Ross asked angrily, looking at his son in between watching the road.
“What? Oh… I- yeah. The football.” He said startled, trying to look interested in what his father was saying.
“Now you’re gonna go in that school tomorrow and you’re gonna go talk to Coach Geiger and you’re gonna make a hell of an impression!” He went on aggressively.
“Yeah – I know, dad.” Ryan replied, looking a bit annoyed.
Harvey chuckled and turned to his son, “You know, this is it, champ… I can feel it in my bones. Geiger has two brothers in the scouting business, and you can be sure as hell that he will let them know if he’s got the talent. We’re almost there!”
Ryan forced a smile.
“I know this hasn’t been the easiest for you, but someday you’ll look at me and you’ll thank me. This will be the greatest gift, the greatest opportunity, Ry! Everything I didn’t get to have… you will have it all.” He said smiling, caught up in the glory of his vision.
Ryan couldn’t help but smile. He knew he had a father who cared about him more than anything else in the world, and that made him happy. Harvey had easily given up many things in his life – his marriage, his job, and a stable home – all to see his son succeed. He had made it a personal goal of his to see Ryan make it in the big league as a wide receiver. The problem was, this wasn’t Ryan’s dream, but Harvey’s. Growing up, he too had been a successful wide receiver in high school – many scouts had their eye on him in fact. But when it came down to making it in the big league, a knee injury had killed his dream. Seeing his son achieve that glory was the next best thing for him, and he was set on making it happen.
“Hey… hey!” Someone said.
Ryan felt himself be nudged, he opened his eyes confused – his father was looking at him. He had fallen asleep.
“We’re here.” His father smiled.
Ryan looked around; they were at a place called The Salem Inn.
He frowned, “Why are we here?”
“The movers are only coming with our stuff tomorrow, we won’t be settled in until then. You need a good night’s sleep for tomorrow, it’s going to be a big day!” He smiled to his son.
Ryan tried his best to smile sincerely. He sighed as they went inside.

I agree with sportsgirl. Great start NB! You have gotten me to care about what happens to characters who aren't even on the show, and that is the sign of a good writer. The pictures are helpful too.
I am interested to see how Ryan fits into the Salem community. Love the father-son dynamic! I am ready for more!

Wonderful start. Sounds like this is going to be a good story. Love that Lucas' picture is listed, even if he doesn't make to the story, we can look at him!!!

Thank you everyone! I'm nearly done with my second chapter. Sorry for being slow, I was inspired to write the ending the other day, so it has slowed down my posting, as that's not something I get to post now. Doesn't help that I'm a total perfectionist too, lol! A few touch ups and I'll be good to go, to add it here! Wonderful start. Sounds like this is going to be a good story. Love that Lucas' picture is listed, even if he doesn't make to the story, we can look at him!!! I can guarantee you Lucas will be in this story! He will have a big enough part too. He will be Will's main support system after his sexuality becomes questionable - something both Sami and Rafe will struggle to do (at least at first). Stay tuned!  |

Thanks for the update! I am anxious to read more. I am a bit of a fan fic addict. I have been known to read fan fics on line until 2am or even later. Last night it was 1:30am I think. I am thrilled when I get to read them here at MH!
