Just occurred to me that Nathan returning makes it less likely that Jay Johnson will return. I've been holding out hope but with Chloe going and Nathan coming, I can't see TPTB bringing Philip back at this point. Of course I may be thinking like TPTB of old, where love triangles are the order of the day. The new regime might have some actual creativity and come up with a story for a somewhat young, somewhat ruthless, somewhat charming businessman whose name is not Dimera.

My hope is gone on the Philip front as well. Any regime that thinks Nathan is a better character to write for than Philip, needs to be working for the Disney channel. I personally think EJ is the only thing the show has going for it now. And I am not a James Scott fan at all. But at least EJ has something to work with. You can create all kinds of scenarios...that are INTERESTING...with that character. You know I am thinking about to all the old Days storylines and I have watched on and off sense the 80s...and the only ones that stand out in my memory....Is Sami conniving to get Austin (and yes I wanted her to have him), Shane's bad girl daughter Eve, Jack and Jen (bits and pieces), Marlena possessed, the Salem Serial killer, Phloe,... Everything else before 2007 I think my mind is desperately trying to forget. But ask me about other soaps...and I have tons of favorite stories and characters. Days just had too many bland good guys and not enough gray. SO whenever I hear all this hoopla about returning to the Days of old...i get scared. Days of old had Stefano playing mad scientist in the basement, 2 dimensional characters, triangles where you always knew who would win. ..(I personally love triangles, Nothing is worse than watching a couple that you know will always get back together no matter what...especially when that couple is young. And yes I am pointing my finger at Shawn and Belle - yuck) There is no intrigue when you always know the outcome of the love triangle or when you just know Stefano is always the blame. I had always thought that Days was like the cartoon version of a soap...with the zany plots, good guys always winning, and never ending couples...just like Bugs Bunny you just knew he would never be caught by Elmer or Yosemite., Any time a producer says no more drug addiction stories...like it is a bad thing. It is time to turn the channel. Internal struggles that manifest themselves in violence, chemical abuse, or other means of self harm are the backbone of MODERN storytelling. I sometimes thing that Corday may have been paid to actually make the show FAIL, rather than succeed. I can think of no other reason that he would surmise that going back to the 80s version of a show would attract new viewers. ...with no decent eye candy to boot. Sigh...

If Nathan is Jack's son, wouldn't that make him and Stephanie cousins?

Yes. Steve and Jack are brothers. I hope that the character of Nathan is written much better this time around cause he was boooring! I still want to know how he came to use the last name of Horton. Melissa never switched her last name to Horton that I recall. She was always Melissa Anderson until she married Pete.
