Fun question for the authors.
When did the writing bug hit you? Was it a moment in time? About how old were you?
Do you remember the first thing you wrote? Was it for school? Just for fun on your own? Was it fanfic or something else?

(Granted it's been a while since I could be considered an author here, but anywho....)
The first thing I wrote was a 5 part horror/romance/sci-fi story in 7th grade that I based on my classmates. The guy I had a crush on was my boyfriend (natch) and his b*tch girlfriend died a horrible death in the first chapter (natch). It was very well received by my classmates (it got passed around), even my English teacher thought it was well written, and for a brief moment I was one of the cool kids. *sigh* Good times.
The next thing I wrote was AGES later when Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended. I couldn't accept that *spoiler* Spike was gone and he and Buffy never made it back to each other. So I wrote my own happy ending.
The last thing was my Rafe/Carrie fic for this site. It's the only time a soap couple really reached out and grabbed me and DEMANDED that I tell their story. I'm still ticked that Carrie left so suddenly and feel like she and Rafe had AMAZING chemistry and a POOP LOAD of story possibilities. Sometimes I still go back and re-read it just because I like that universe so much.
Mainly, I haven't written anything lately because nothing else has moved me like that. So instead I bow to the MUCH more talented writers that are able to really stay in character and make the story believable.

Love your backstory, DancingDays! You should keep writing that Carrafe saga. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As for when I started, I was thinking about this recently (hence the question) and I realized that I started at a very very very young age. Less than 5 years old. I used to draw pictures on a little notepad, picture after picture. It was usually a man and a woman and, while I was drawing, I would make up a story in my head with dialogue; the couple would be talking to each other. Then I’d flip the page and draw the next scene (which, by the way, looked exactly like the page before it. Hey, I’m no artist, but I am a storyteller.) So it became sort of a flip book and the story was in my head, not written down. Years later I worked at a really boring job and I wrote an irreverent story about my coworkers but I put them in a different setting; it was a twisted fairy tale of sorts. I shared the story with my coworkers in serial style, and they absolutely howled. They couldn’t wait for the next chapter and the next and the next. That’s how boring our jobs were! I used to frequent a different Days board and late December back in 2007, I wrote one chapter of a story. It just happened to feature Philip and Nick. I didn’t intend to write any more than that one chapter, but the members said I just had to continue it. I’ll never forget that André DiMera and djm were at the front of that line, and who can say no to Andre and Donna? I mean really. So I kept going with it. That first story ended up being An Accidental Murder. I quickly became addicted to writing fanfics. I’ve written about 60 by now and they're all posted here at MyHourglass. (Believe it or not, it wasn’t until 2011 that I started writing Philip-centric stories.) I’m about to e-publish Dream Boat under the pseudonym Natalie Brock, my second novel that began as a Days fanfic. The first one was In Love and War. I have an idea for a third one in mind as well. Looks like I just wrote my autobiography. LOL.

I'll never forget reading your first story, Kpatch! As for me, I have been writing fan-fiction for quite a while, though not always Days of Our Lives fan-fiction. When I was a child, I was a big fan of Thomas the Tank Engine and wrote several stories about that. I grew, and so did my interests and my style of writing. Then, in 2008, I joined the forum that kpatch mentioned. There, I began posting a story called "He's Back...". People seemed to like it, and so I kept posting. I have not posted said story here and probably won't, unless I heavily rewrite it. Though, there have been many homages to my first story within the stories I posted here. The first story I posted here was called " Dinner With the Family".

I have been writing since I maybe first or second grade. I used to take my vocabulary words and write ongoing stories that incorporated kids in my class. Each week the kids would ask if I could read it out loud so they could hear what happened to them next. LOL Writing is something I do, like breathing, sounds corny, but that's just how it is for me. I will write until I can't anymore.
As far as fanfiction...that's not something I wrote a lot of. My first was in the 8th grade. My friend and I collaborated on a Batman fanfic. After that I only wrote stuff using my original characters. Though I did a couple GH one shots, a couple Roswell stories, one long Dawson's Creek one, another Days one shot, and my current series. I am not sure I'll do much fanfic after this. I love to read it though.

I started writing my own stories in fourth grade, our teacher asked us to write about what was the one thing we would never expect to in in a forest,I said a woman giving birth,i got a 100 on the assignment. Soon in fifth grade, I couldn't end any story on a happy note; someone would always be either abused, or brutally murdered. My mom would always read them and she'd look heart broken. Her favorite characters would always end up dying.
The fanfic I'm writing now is my first one. It's not as detailed as I had envisioned it, but I'm trying to fix that.
